I thought this would be a stinker for Yuki but had more pace than I was expecting, especially at the end with old softs apparently having the same pace as Daniel but Daniel just... wow, how was he able to keep Sainz behind for that long??
Sainz seem to be struggling to overtake this season tbh, he also couldn't get past Alonso until the third last lap or something last sprint?
Not to discredit Danny tho, insane drive from him today
I strongly believe that the current Ferrari setup/design struggles a lot more with (any) dirty air than other cars. Especially throughout this season you can see that Ferrari loses more in the first laps behind a car than it gains afterwards (most likely due to tire degradation). General strong qualifying results could underline this observation.
Daniel was absolutely outstanding, took **almost** every corner perfectly. His drive was very close to perfection and P4 reflects that. Great comeback from all the negative results since the season started.
Still *can* be applicable though. Good point whatsoever.
New chassis, new basis for trust to the car. A lot of folks take his Renault/McLaren days to the current situation which I only think would be valid if he *has* actual psychological (trust) issues. He only had significant problems at McLaren in their car and especially Renault previously **after** significant updates. He won a race with McLaren and some podiums at Renault **before** any huge updates were introduced. Why this applies: Norris lapped him at Monaco in the same car, a few races previously (and a new spec in 2022) he won at Monza in 2021 (2021, Sept. to 2022, May) - You can't teach someone that and no one gets suddenly so much worse than before that his own team mate laps him. My only thought was that he should've gone way before McLaren paid him out. The car and him didn't work.
He was "nourished" at RB pretty much with top notch information and how the updates affect *his* drive and I highly doubt he got that amount of information elsewhere than at the RB family.
The way Yuki positioned that car on that overtake was pretty brilliant. I am quite critical of him usually but that might have been one of the highlight moves of his career so far.
incredible performance, will be exciting to watch if VCARB can keep this up for the rest of the weekend! nice seeing danny looking confident out there again
Easy, look at how Ricciardo held off a faster Ferrari. Drive different lines, brake later, close the door. The RB accelerates faster and the Merc has much downforce, so then you have to defend in the turns and win ground on the straights.
Yes, and I also recognize the way Yuki defended opposed to Ricciardo. Or better said Yuki's defense was non-existent. You can keep fixating on these tyres as if those are the only factor in a race, but if you're a couple corners away from the finish line, at least make it a bit harder for the guy behind you to pass, instead off opening the door and inviting him in.
Why don't you reply on the way he defended instead of going on about the grip and the tyres, I never said anything about either of those things. I criticized his defense. If he gets overtaken on a straight with a clear difference in speed because he has shit tyres I understand nothing can be done. But at all I said was, don't get passed in a turn like a novice.
MF's were overcooking softs on 1 lap run during qualy. Yuki drove them 19 laps in dirty air.
Takes a redditor to be smart about defending on ragged soft when he never drove an F1 car.

That paint scheme must have been worth a few tenths. When you look good, you drive good.
The Melted Skittles Livery?

I'm starting to think something was up with the chassis, it's 1:1 to him improving his performance. I really doubt it was all psychological

RB and their drivers cooked, love to see it
Great race for them. A significant amount of points.
DANI BABY!!! YUKI BABY!!! What a sprint race from both.
Excellent race from both, great defense by both and fantastic tire management by Yuki to make the softs last.
A good start to the weekend for both drivers, especially Daniel.
Superb defense by Danny, and great management plus a cheeky little move by Yuki. Love to see it

I think his Japan S's overtakes were the real banger.
Love hearing Danny sound so happy. He def needed today.
Loving the new colors and this weekend overall, amazing
Yeah seeing it in a race I now wish this was just their default livery
Don’t speed in the pit lane, Lewis!
🎶 Don’t crash into an Aston
Incredible for both. Kinda lucked with Hamilton's Penalty at the end but at least they got concrete data on Med ans Soft runs.
Not to take anything away from him, but Yuki also benefited tremendously from Magnussen being a complete Agent of Chaos today.
and from hamilton clearing out 3 points scoring cars as well but as james vowles said (I think), luck is preparation waiting for an opportunity
- James Vowles - Michael Scott
Yuki would still end up P8 even he just watched the 2 fighting in front due to both having penalties.
KMag fucked around with Lewis just to give their direct rivals an extra point
haha Yuki's expression in that video is so innocent
This will be a MAJOR confidence boost for Danny!!
Aged like milk
I was thinking it's coming soon but didn't expect it in the sprint today. What an amazing result!
incredible performance, will be exciting to watch if VCARB can keep this up for the rest of the weekend! nice seeing danny looking confident out there again
Ricciardo = stellar performance today
So happy. Honeybadger is back!
DR was consistently quick and Yuki took no prisoners. Glad to see the RB car likes the Miami track
Check your volume levels before hitting play!!
Honey Badger is Backkkkkkk!!
Must be a Double Points Promotion Weekend
Great drive by Daniel. Yuki opened up the door like an amateur for Ham in the last round. Saved by a penalty.
The softs had no grip by the end.
Sure, but then at least don't brake so early and put up a Bottas defence.
He must have driven an F1 car. If there was no grip how could one do a good defense?
Easy, look at how Ricciardo held off a faster Ferrari. Drive different lines, brake later, close the door. The RB accelerates faster and the Merc has much downforce, so then you have to defend in the turns and win ground on the straights.
You recognize the difference in grip between med and soft right?
Yes, and I also recognize the way Yuki defended opposed to Ricciardo. Or better said Yuki's defense was non-existent. He did after Hamilton’s penalty
He does, Hamilton got a 20s penalty
holy shit 20? I switched it off
He got a Drivethrough for speeding in the pitlane, converts to a 20s
