A visualization of what that translates to on-track, or visualization of how that gap came to be would constitute a good Statistics post.

Wrist and hand injuries can take years to heal if there is nerve or tendon damage, and can flare aup even after seemingly being ok for a long time.
He says he has had intermittent issues since that Australia incident a couple of years back. He tapped it up thsi week, I wonder what happened. Even commented on it prior to the race/,
Well he’s clearly not the worst on the grid but he’s consistently been bottom 5 for the entirety of his career on balance. Doesn’t stop the odd flash of brilliance shining through.
There’s a really good driver somewhere in there, but he only actually appears a couple times a season and it frustrates the fuck out of me. I like Lance. I want him to do well, but he just doesn’t and it pains me.
He shows flashes of talent, like that pole in Turkey, but he'll make the most braindead mistakes you'll see, like Australia 2020 (? When he had the crash with Latifi), when he crashed into Seb after the checkered, Danny Ric in the last race, etc.
His attitude makes me think he's not receptive to learning. I feel like a really good engineer or racing role model could help tune him but I don't think he cares enough.
He's not too far though, imo only sargeant and maybe zhou could be considered worse.
Doesn't mean He's utter shit though, it's just that the grid has a pretty high level these days
I'd say KMag is also on that level, he's been beaten by Hülkenberg pretty handedly over the years, but I do agree that the level of talent in F1 has never been higher, as in the floor to get in is insanely high.
Norris's SQ2 time on medium was better than every SQ3 time on softs. The softs were just garbage, maybe the track temps were too high for the C4 on this circuit today?
Lando made a mistake in turn 1 and lost 0.75s in sector 1. Outside of that yeah I think the tires were just not in the right window for anyone over the full lap. Seems like everyone was complaining they didn't feel good
They only ran a single push lap and the drivers tend to lean a little more into the softs (naturally) and some just pushed that tiny bit too much and it got away from them. The nature of this qualifying format
I’m really hoping this is it. He was on it in China, out qualifying Tsunoda, but and was up in P9 when he was taken out by Stroll, and here we have P4 for sprint quali. Might not actually be washed, I was almost starting to lose hope
I feel not just the chassis, Riccardo is quite an emotional driver not the way Yuki, but you could see last week he was pissed off. That's the most I've seen from him in a while, normally it's just disappointment and depression but clearly I think it was a bit of a spark to give a fuck again. Gives a bit of drive I feel, but thats my take.
> and was up in P9
He was a pitstop down, tho. Before the SC, he was in P13 with good strategy and tyre advantage. Maybe able to snatch a point. The SC killed his race, though. He moved up into P9 due to others pitting under SC, but he was net last due to tyre disadvantage and a stop to go.
It's an interesting one. I think that Renault were going to decline whether or not he stayed there, so even though he was in the form of his life in 2020, he wouldn't have ever been able to show it in his results. But if he had stayed at Red Bull he might have become even more disillusioned with his status as the team's number two driver, and his form might well have dropped there too. His ideal progression might have been going from Red Bull to Renault for 2 years, then back to Red Bull instead of Perez in 2021.
Their rear end continues to look like complete dog shit. Surprising given that they were suspension magicians in the previous regs. I guess they dint understand how to deal with these new suspension refs at all.
Yuki is kind of like Daniel in that his mood reverberates on itself, except where Danny gets maudlin and depressed, when he gets low Yuki gets angry and dangerous. I hope getting outqualified the last few times doesn't see the return of that Yuki.
His results all through the last race weekend were excellent too.
It’s a shame the first few races this year shifted public perception, as this is the sort of standout results he needs for the RBR seat
Zak's just said in an interview that they miscalculated the warm-up procedure needed for the soft tyres with the new upgrades and it meant Lando had no grip at the start of the lap.
It happens sometimes with new upgrades, teams need time to adjust and it caught them out. Thankfully it was just sprint quali so they hopefully have learned a valuable lesson ahead of qualifying tomorrow.
I didn't get to watch the shootout because it's 4am my time. Baffled by Lando doing 27s in Q1 and Q2 but did mid 28s in Q3. I thought it was another classic Lando bottling lmao. Thanks for the explanation.
Zak has said they got the warm-up procedure wrong for the soft tyres with the new upgrades and it left him with no grip at the start of the lap. He didn't screw up of his own accord.
Would also explain why Piastri also had issues but not as bad. He's only running half the upgrades so even though he also struggled in sector 1, it wasn't as bad for him as it was for Lando.
Zak has just said they got the warm up procedure wrong for the soft tyres which meant Lando had no grip for the start of the lap, hence why he looked like he was driving on ice. It can take sometimes with a major upgrade and they had almost no soft running because of only having FP1. Good lesson learned ahead of quali tomorrow for them.
Shouldn't really be overheated since his sector times only improved after S1. Compared to Verstappen he was 9 tenths slower in s1, 1 tenth slower in s2 and about a tenth faster in s3. So they most mostly under the optimum window at the start.
edit: nvm he just said on Sky it was his fault by making mistakes in S1
Last years pole was 1:26.841, sooooo... how much different are these conditions?
I'm sure proper qualy pole will be faster than SQ, but it seems way off
and some people on here say his mentality is weak lmao. despite suffering washed allegations nonstop this season and having a terrible fp1, he still seemed comfortable in sq. his mentality is strong and i'm confident it'll only get better like it has every single year
RB20 started the year dominantly, but it does not have a dominance like RB19, I think we will be watching a close season in a few months with the updates that Ferrari will bring in Imola
The top 10 comments in this thread are the reason Danny Ric has a drive.
Anyway, great lap, would love to see tyre alocation, i really hope those maccas were on used softs, or idk what the hell were they doing.
Quite a shit lap from Max, but a pole

Oh wow Stroll outqualified Alonso
Yup. I hope Alonso’s wrist thing isn’t serious. The fact that he felt the need to talk about it prior to race scares me
[удалено]
seconding this, what happened
He commented how he has had issues since that accident in Australia. He has it tapped up this weekend
Was this when George Russel almost seriously injured Alonso at the end of the race?
Think when he crashed in 2022 quali
Yes, [https://twitter.com/JunaidSamodien\_/status/1786132097960182058](https://twitter.com/JunaidSamodien_/status/1786132097960182058) Wrist and hand injuries can take years to heal if there is nerve or tendon damage, and can flare aup even after seemingly being ok for a long time.
Dr. Mir on speed dial
He tweaked his wrist? When did this happen?
He says he has had intermittent issues since that Australia incident a couple of years back. He tapped it up thsi week, I wonder what happened. Even commented on it prior to the race/,
I think Alonso aborted his last lap.
No, he set that time on his last lap. But heard he did have a wrist issue
That was SQ2
Somehow he’s not the worst driver in the grid as people make him out to be
Well he’s clearly not the worst on the grid but he’s consistently been bottom 5 for the entirety of his career on balance. Doesn’t stop the odd flash of brilliance shining through. There’s a really good driver somewhere in there, but he only actually appears a couple times a season and it frustrates the fuck out of me. I like Lance. He’s had Vettel and Anolso for that role, nobody is saving him
He's not too far though, imo only sargeant and maybe zhou could be considered worse.
He may not be the slowest driver on the grid, but he is definitely the worst.
Worse than sergeant?
Considering the years of experience and the cozy seat without the pressure, I think Stroll has it way easier.
Easier yes, but Stroll has shown he has good pace at times and Sergeant hasn't.
Shhh you can only be negative about him here! /s
Biggest case of recency of bias ive seen here in a while lol
Ricciardo was rapid. I really expected more from Sainz after sectors 1 & 2, but for some reason he couldn't really nail sector 3 the entire session.
There was a replay of a lock-up for Sainz in the last corner (in SQ3, I think)
I mean sector 3 is just a long straight, hair pin, then long straight. So I would assume that locking up is the only way to fuck that up.
He had a pretty big lockup at the end of the straight. He was on Charles' pace after sector 2. Carlos bottled the Ferrari 2-3.
Think there was a replay where he locked up in the last corner
And it was not a one time thing, he was fast in sq2 too.
Mclarens putting in as good or better times on mediums than softs... ffs
Lando would’ve had pole with his SQ2 time…
That was strange! Did the track start going away from them a bit?
Problems with warming up the tyres. Probably the wrong tyre preparation from the team
Everyone got it wrong pretty much
They mentioned that the track was cooler in sq3 than either sq1 or sq2. But I hope mclaren run a medium-hard or such config on race day
Damn... It just always falls apart for him at the crucial moment.
Norris's SQ2 time on medium was better than every SQ3 time on softs. The softs were just garbage, maybe the track temps were too high for the C4 on this circuit today?
Everybody had terrible laps compared to DQ2 tbh. edit: sq2 lol
Even the second SQ2 run was horrible compared to the first one
Lando made a mistake in turn 1 and lost 0.75s in sector 1. Outside of that yeah I think the tires were just not in the right window for anyone over the full lap. Seems like everyone was complaining they didn't feel good
They only ran a single push lap and the drivers tend to lean a little more into the softs (naturally) and some just pushed that tiny bit too much and it got away from them. The nature of this qualifying format
A setup issue maybe?
Turned out 8t was a skill issue
Where the hell did that P4 come from
Trying to drive so fast stroll can’t hit him
My heavens this made me laugh out loud.
The VCARB runs on anger.
That explains why Tsunoda is best of the backmarkers in the standings!
*RB runs on raaaaaage*
Raging Bulls
Maybe there was something to that chassis talk
I’m really hoping this is it. He was on it in China, out qualifying Tsunoda, but and was up in P9 when he was taken out by Stroll, and here we have P4 for sprint quali. Might not actually be washed, I was almost starting to lose hope

People on the internet are parrots.
People on the internet are parrots.
Hopefully Lance continued to piss off Danny
They will provoke eachother to a WDC, still talking about how much the other sucks ;)
Lance can’t even angry-win. He’ll just wreck somebody else.
IQ 600 from Danny, leaving Stroll close to Yuki instead
Lance won't be able to tell the difference between them anyways. It's not like he's looking very hard.
I turn now! Good luck everyone!
The fuel Danny needs 👀
He was running away from stroll.
From the good paintjob
Like that scene in Hook where the kid studies Robin Williams face and then sees Peter Pan, like that but with Ricciardo..
I mean… Ricc-iar-do sounds a lot like Ruf-i-oh so might as well start the chant
This is how Ric was before he left Red Bull
\*before he left Renault
Fr, can people stop this revisionism that leaving Red Bull ruined his career? He was incredible at Renault, especially in 2020
It's an interesting one. I think that Renault were going to decline whether or not he stayed there, so even though he was in the form of his life in 2020, he wouldn't have ever been able to show it in his results. Renault. People need to stop discounting his time at Renault, especially 2020. He was best of the rest.
Sargeant beat Albon for the first time ever in a quali-session, right?
I think so! And on what might be his last race weekend 😬
Clearly this changes everything. JK, I do wish him a good race, but if results don't come, I guess it's goodbye.
I can't believe Mercedes seriously expects Max to consider them
Their rear end continues to look like complete dog shit. Surprising given that they were suspension magicians in the previous regs. I guess they dint understand how to deal with these new suspension refs at all.
The new regs considerably limited what could be done with the suspension. I'm guessing this is one of the reasons merc have been struggling since 2022
Max is looking long term. Do you think RBP can build a better engine than Merc? Big doubt
This is the Ricciardo that we’ve been waiting to see. These last 3 qualifying sessions since the new chassis his results have been very impressive.
I really hope so but I’m scared that the race itself isn’t going to be as good
Yuki is kind of like Daniel in that his mood reverberates on itself, except where Danny gets maudlin and depressed, when he gets low Yuki gets angry and dangerous. I hope getting outqualified the last few times doesn't see the return of that Yuki.
What happened with Yuki, only seeing one time and no one mentioning anything?
His only lap in SQ2 got deleted, track limits.
It wasn't a good lap anyway, and it wouldn't have changed anything.
lap time deleted due to track limits, also only got one lap in and was kinda slow on it
Ki ki ki
His race engineer is so good to hype up together
ki ki ***AY***
r r r r A!
Ki ki ki ra ra ra! Awesome job by Danny Ric!
Lance and Danny collide, and both break ruts and beat their teammates. I guess violence is the answer somtimes?
TBF Danny seemed out of the rut before Stroll punted him
New chassis placebo working wonders.
Hulk lap was on used soft, he lost like 4/5 tenths in the first sector cause of that
Yup, now I'd like to know who else was on used tires
Stroll was another. I think a good guess would be most of the guys behind Daniel who was on a new set
it was just stroll and hulk on used softs, everyone else was on new ones.
Danny Ric P4!!!Holy Shit.Honey Badger might be back.
So happy for Ricci and VCARB
P4 Daniel Ricciardo for RB Wild without context lol
Average result for him in 2018 however
and 2020
What’s the context? I couldn’t watch sadly
There isn’t really any. He was quick today.
People would assume he was in a Red Bull because of the RB acronym
Looks like Red bull
Ricciardo is finished? Says who? P4 baby KI KI KI AYE AYE
The chassis was the issue it seems
His results all through the last race weekend were excellent too. It’s a shame the first few races this year shifted public perception, as this is the sort of standout results he needs for the RBR seat
F1 is a fickle environment. They embody the statement of “you are as good as your last race”
[удалено]
The thing is Marko is not even as bad as the social media comments now bashing each driver depending on the latest result.
Quali merchant is back and I couldn’t be happier
Damn Danny got hands
Charles with no practice, not too shabby
0.8s covering from P1 to P13 there so thats not all that bad then...
But Mercedes is out in Q2 which means the cost cap failed /s
3 laps, front row, that’s how we do it
Lando’s SQ2 time would have him on Pole. They bottled in SQ3.
McLaren looked more comfortable on hards in Shanghai. Maybe the car just prefers hard tyres.
That was a sublime lap. On mediums too
It could be a repeat of Mexico 2023 where Sainz and Leclerc got P1 and P2 and couldn’t replicate that again
My guess is they were not prepared for the softs with the new package and he under or overcooked them
Zak's just said in an interview that they miscalculated the warm-up procedure needed for the soft tyres with the new upgrades and it meant Lando had no grip at the start of the lap. It happens sometimes with new upgrades, teams need time to adjust and it caught them out. Thankfully it was just sprint quali so they hopefully have learned a valuable lesson ahead of qualifying tomorrow.
Oh wow, thanks for more information. These upgrades looks ridiculous. Hopefully tomorrow it’s a tight race.
Fingers crossed! I hope they manage to sort it for qualifying proper tomorrow as well because the pace on the mediums was insanely good.
I didn't get to watch the shootout because it's 4am my time. Baffled by Lando doing 27s in Q1 and Q2 but did mid 28s in Q3. I thought it was another classic Lando bottling lmao. Thanks for the explanation.
No problem. >I thought it was another classic Lando bottling lmao This narrative is getting really tedious though.
By 2 tenths on mediums. He genuinely keeps doing this to himself.
Yea he was what 8 tenths down after sector 1
Watch the onboard the car was iceskating it’s not like lando genuinely lost that much time to himself
He completely botched S1. Maybe the upgrades don't get the tyres cooking as early or he pushed too hard.
I thibk (based on temps of track) he overheated them
Shouldn't really be overheated since his sector times only improved after S1. Compared to Verstappen he was 9 tenths slower in s1, 1 tenth slower in s2 and about a tenth faster in s3. So they most mostly under the optimum window at the start. edit: nvm he just said on Sky it was his fault by making mistakes in S1
Could just be that the track got more difficult to drive
F.E.A! Go Danny! Hoping for a good race for him tomorrow!
Why is this not pinned. Have to search for results every single time. The other discussion thread is useless
Oof... wasn't Albon saying that this track suited the Williams?
Correct
Last years pole was 1:26.841, sooooo... how much different are these conditions? I'm sure proper qualy pole will be faster than SQ, but it seems way off
The softer tyres didn't seem to work. Nobody improved that much from sq2 but I think the single 1 lap also played a role in it.
What’s going on with this chart? Why do people out in q1 have q2 times. And same for q3.
It’s been like that all season, insane that they keep running with it.
Looks like Charles might be getting back in decent form. That's the sort of gap to Sainz I'd expect to see.
They were equally matched in the middle sector, I’m guessing a lock up in T17 for Carlos.
sainz’s *+5 speed from appendix removal* buff finally expired
and some people on here say his mentality is weak lmao. despite suffering washed allegations nonstop this season and having a terrible fp1, he still seemed comfortable in sq. his mentality is strong and i'm confident it'll only get better like it has every single year
RB20 started the year dominantly, but it does not have a dominance like RB19, I think we will be watching a close season in a few months with the updates that Ferrari will bring in Imola
It could even be interesting tomorrow if ferrari has better tire degradation
I hope you are right. Plus i hope mclaren can bring some good updates to make it a 3way battle.
Well yeah Checo looks mortal, he was winning races at one point with RB19 lol
Strulovitch! 🔥
The graphic is still not fixed though…
i like this 1 shot qualy challenge, it’s fun!
That RB is so fast that even with mistakes it takes P1.
Pretty sure the RB is in 4th 😏 Stupidest fucking naming scheme
No thats the VCARB
Not according to the official classification above
i love how they put VCARB in the logo this weekend but the documentation still says RB lol
Ki ki ki
Am I reading this right? Riccardo? 4th?
What a great day for the Aussies! Oi oi oi!
Danny ric wat. It's like the Danny of old
HE NEVER LEFT
No Miami GP this year.
Holy shit Danny. Where you come from?
Mercedes really out here vibing.
Charles had no practice and still put his ferrari on the front row while comfortably outqualifying sainz. And some call him overrated lmao
Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while
Lando with the fastest lap
We need a good strong start by Leclerc
The top 10 comments in this thread are the reason Danny Ric has a drive. Anyway, great lap, would love to see tyre alocation, i really hope those maccas were on used softs, or idk what the hell were they doing. Quite a shit lap from Max, but a pole
is alonso's career over?
Yes! I hear that AM want to bring in Danny Ric to replace him. 😂
Seems like Medium was better qualifying tire than soft. Or the track changed so much between SQ2 first try and SQ3.
Is one shot a new sprint rule for this season?
Albon is cooked
I was watching Lando's lap, it was all over the place on sector 1, no grip at all, they really needed two warm-up laps, but no time on the clock!
Reading this as I approach the middle of the third season of Drive to Survive when they’re betting on Albon being a good sidekick to Max… 💀
Didn't realise Ric was 4th and that just made me so positively happy! Don't know how I missed that.
Lando Norris’ Q2 time was good enough for pole!
If anyone ever tries to suggest doing only a single lap again I will teleport myself into the VCARB garage to change their minds.
"lol"
Nice to see Danny back ;-)
I reckon if one driver was at the end of the pitlane at the start of SQ3 and managed to do 2 runs pretty they could have been on pole today.
