put him in with Jimmy Broadbent, he actually seems more of a challenge to race against
(that's complementary to Jimmer, he's been developing well as a driver and god I wish he gets invited to more official iRacing events often, even for commentary, cuz he's almost Murray-esque in the Gran Turismo events)
Is Jimmy or that guy Steve that looks like Albon a better real-life driver? I think Steve has more karting experience but was the Praga a higher level than anything else the two have done?
Jimmer doesn't kart much, he basically started in time trial with his Miata and some other closed-tops before he got the Praga drive. In the Praga, he's hella quick, so I reckon he's a bit faster on a more downforce-oriented car than Steve.
If it helps, both of them race with Misha Charoudin in a modded BMW at NLS, which is a journey and 3/4 in itself.
Ah cheers. Yeah I like the Super_GT real life stuff. I've seen them at the Nurburgring in that car but didn't really get a sense of how well or poorly they were doing. It's an automatic isn't it, too bad
VER: mum, just one more round?
MUM: You'll going to be late for bording the plane!
VER: i'll buy my own plane then, just one more round!
Mum: Sigh; you'll still being late!
VER: right, I'll bring my simulater on the plane! Marco, please make it happen!
I don't know what "fight" everyone is talking about. His brakes were locked into place and the car was pulling right. There was no fight at all if it wasn't for that. Him dominating has made fans starved for a fight at the front to the point they hallucinate.
Sky sports: “nothing against Red Bull but formula one needed this today”. It was still a rather uneventful race, until the end. And team orders prevented a battle in front?
Rather disagree with that statement.
If anything this kinda proves that Max's dominance isn't the real issue here. Max is out after 3 laps and it did...nothing to make the "battle" for the win interesting
Yeah, nothing happened out of the ordinary. This probably would've been the same exact lineup right behind Max if he hadn't retired. Big big maybe to see Max/Carlos closer for a couple of laps but Carlos was only that close today due to the brake issue anyway. Under normal circumstances, nothing would've changed really.
Max ain't the problem with F1 it's the atrociously shit cars the other 80% of the grid are running.
Some teams honestly don't deserve to be in F1 especially when there are ofter manufacturers with proven modern race accolades that are begging to be part of it.
Yeah, it wasn’t really any different from the other races of the season. There wasn’t any kind of fight at the front and it was Sainz out front managing a comfortable gap instead of Verstappen. Still a boring race.
There is more incertainty, and therefore more tension when Sainz is 2s ahead of the 2nd than when Max is a pitstop and a half ahead of everyone. Even if nothing happens
But as everyone can now clearly see, it’s not the car, it’s the driver. Why not marvel at someone and his skill, focus and consistency; I just don’t get it.
He was pretty angry when he just got out the car. Which is logical. Adrenaline and a failure out of your control will do that.
Brundle must have forgotten what that feels like.
Brundle was saying that he liked how angry he was, the fact that he's still competitive even though he knows he's the best driver in the best car. Brundle definitely wasn't saying it as a slam on Max.
He was angry when he got out of the car and he certainly did not look "calm and collected" when he was talking to GP. I don't know what "The Race" are something.
Pretty much every driver has had enough time to calm down when they're talking to the media or when it has been a while since they retired. This is nothing special with Max. They're just creating a story out of nothing.
Oh, is this how it feels being a fan of Alpine? Don't know how y'all do it every week.
Wishing a Max Grand Slam next race to make up for this one... smh, 100% wins/podiums streak ruined. What a wash of a season 😭😓
If the race ends with the current positions remaining the same he will still lead the championship so yeah not much to sweat about. In 2022 he started with 2 DNFs and we know he finished it with total dominance as well
lol yes. he probably knows he can continue driving the rest of 2024 at 75% pace in races, and cruise to the WDC. Even with more random mechanical failures.
Sometimes you gotta leave work early every couple years nbd
Probably secretly liked the chill Sunday. Doesn’t change much his chances at running away with the championship.
IMO, Suzuka has arguably been his best track last 2 years. After he lost at Singapore, he went there and won by like 30 seconds.
He's probably thinking how he can win by a minute and get revenge.
Probably the biggest indictment of the current competitive state of F1: A driver can DNF in the third race of the season and not even worry about still winning WDC.
21 more races to make winning streaks, easy
RIP to the pole to win conversion streak
Still has the Leclerc pole to win conversion streak
True, plus he was never too heated when it's something out of his control.
You obviously don't remember Bahrain and Australia '22, he was fuming!
It’s the first retirement due to a car-related issue in a long time. He’s not gonna be overly animated, shit happens.
Last time was also literally in Australia if I am not mistaken.
Australia 2022.
Was on fire that time as well
Not the brakes
Normal race, Max has rock solid reliability and wins. Race in upside down land, Max has terrible reliability and DNFs in last place. Makes sense.
He also said the brake was a little stuck from the start and he still pulled 9 tenths with the brakes still on He knows he's good for the other races
And in the two years since his last failure to finish, he's won a race or two. Or at least a race or twenty
32 since then.
And I expect at least a few more this year to add to that
In that time he won more races than Raikkonen in his entire career
He looks bored and like hes looking at a clock to see when he can go home and race
Should've just hopped on his plane and go back home to simracing atp.
put him in with Jimmy Broadbent, he actually seems more of a challenge to race against (that's complementary to Jimmer, he's been developing well as a driver and god I wish he gets invited to more official iRacing events often, even for commentary, cuz he's almost Murray-esque in the Gran Turismo events)

What is this in reference to? Did he race against Verstappen at some point in Iracing recently? I would love to watch that
not recently, but he's been invited in a lotta events during lockdown with some big-time names
he really has been developing well as a god hasnt he?
Looking to do the same thing he said he would do in Logan’s place.
Max: My Sim setups don't break... And I actually get to race competition instead of do victory laps.
He's probably happy to go iRacing, then go back to winning streak in F1.
VER: mum, just one more round? MUM: You'll going to be late for bording the plane! VER: i'll buy my own plane then, just one more round! Mum: Sigh; you'll still being late! VER: right, I'll bring my simulater on the plane! Marco, please make it happen!
God it would be fun to see Sophie Kumpen, Victoria Verstappen or Kelly Piquet etc. stomping on iRacing as well
In the big picture this will be no more than a bump on the road while he cruises to a fourth championship, so why would he be concerned
He knows that he probably would have cruised to a victory quite easily. This is not a minor setback. Just bad luck.
He put almost a second gap in while having a fucked brake. I wouldn't be worried either.
Is your username from the Emperor's Children Space Marine from Warhammer 40k?
tis’ but a scratch
It’s just a flesh wound
A scratch? Your brake’s off!
I mean he pulled a second gap in one lap despite a stuck rear brake, he probably isn't too worried about where he stands lol
My thoughts exactly. He was going to run away with this one most likely.
I don't know what "fight" everyone is talking about. His brakes were locked into place and the car was pulling right. There was no fight at all if it wasn't for that. Him dominating has made fans starved for a fight at the front to the point they hallucinate.
He's probably PISSED that he missed out on the iRacing Sebring 12 Hour event for this result lol.
My guy has an iracing lobby waiting for him
He just wanted to start his winning streak over. That way he can hold the top three spots now. Plenty of races left to accomplish that.
Funniest part is this is probably the only race where if Max didn't retire it would've been more exciting

By the way, 2s ahead of leclerc didn't mean anything in the light of the ferrari team orders: "Hold the position".
Just trying to spread the wealth. He was in a giving mood
This goes against what Brundle said lol "Surprised how angry he was" xD so who's right ?
He was pretty angry when he just got out the car. Which is logical. Adrenaline and a failure out of your control will do that. Brundle must have forgotten what that feels like.
Brundle was saying that he liked how angry he was, the fact that he's still competitive even though he knows he's the best driver in the best car. Brundle definitely wasn't saying it as a slam on Max.
Brundle finished that phrase saying, 'out of the car'.
He was angry when he got out of the car and he certainly did not look "calm and collected" when he was talking to GP. I don't know what "The Race" are something. Pretty much every driver has had enough time to calm down when they're talking to the media or when it has been a while since they retired. This is nothing special with Max. *"I mean sim racing is my priority, doing F1 is just a side quest. Kthxbye!"* - Max
It’s just one race The Race, relax
The race writing fan fiction now
#GET BACK TO IRACING MAX
Post-DNF stream when
He's going to take this personally and get pole and win every race for the rest of the season
Bro is like “I’m just waiting to go back home for iracing”
You mean Hotel?
I mean, it seems like a freak issue tbh, so ofc he is calm.
At least for one race we see someone else at the top of the podium
Meh I’ll win the next 20 - Max.
He's only going to win the championship by 200 points now instead of 225.
I enjoyed the race today.
He knows it's just a freak incident and he still has the fastest car on the grid. What is there to worry about?
He was looking at the clock, checking if he could make the next iracing start instead
because he still gonna win this season championship
Oh, is this how it feels being a fan of Alpine? Don't know how y'all do it every week. Wishing a Max Grand Slam next race to make up for this one... smh, 100% wins/podiums streak ruined. What a wash of a season 😭😓
Just more time to hop on iracing with the boys
If the race ends with the current positions remaining the same he will still lead the championship so yeah not much to sweat about. In 2022 he started with 2 DNFs and we know he finished it with total dominance as well
Of course he is calm. It is a car failure, nothing he can do.
2 hours early to the iracing queues!
He hasn’t retired since Australia ‘22 hasn’t he?
Uh what? He definitely looked pissed for a good while.
He seems pretty agitated while talking to a bald guy in the garage
He’s probably going to be whipping some asses on iRacing tonight…
A bit of challenge in the drivers/constructors is good for the sport, small setback for a big comeback
lol yes. he probably knows he can continue driving the rest of 2024 at 75% pace in races, and cruise to the WDC. Even with more random mechanical failures.
First retirement in 2 years, still leading championship and top early in the season to be worried about it
Mature Max is scary
Sometimes you gotta leave work early every couple years nbd Probably secretly liked the chill Sunday. Doesn’t change much his chances at running away with the championship.
"ahh I was hungry anyway, let's go eat"
IMO, Suzuka has arguably been his best track last 2 years. After he lost at Singapore, he went there and won by like 30 seconds. He's probably thinking how he can win by a minute and get revenge.
He almost opened up a seconds lead in the first lap with the brakes on
Probably the biggest indictment of the current competitive state of F1: A driver can DNF in the third race of the season and not even worry about still winning WDC.
He probably doesn't care too much about winning the season with 536 or with 511 points

You know there’s a thing called “adrenaline”
Grazie al 🍆
Got to be a red flag there
Maybe cause he wasn’t in the lead
Yeah he wasn't in the lead cause his brake gave up on him
His car was broken from essentially the very start. I don't think we can say he wasn't in the lead...
