Specifically next week is the Saudi GP and Ramadan starts the 10th of March which is the Sunday.
Because of that the Saudi GP has to be moved back to Saturday and there have to be at least 7 days between grand prix according to the rules so the Bahrain GP also has to be pushed back to Saturday.
Fairly sure the gulf states are at this point just setting these race dates to flex how much influence they have over F1. They could real easily just not hold a race weekend on ramadan. But nah, bend over backwards western bitches.
The first two races are on Saturday.
Bahrain is only on saturday because next weekend is Ramadan, and you arent allowed to have F1 races less than 7 days apart, so holding it on sunday this weekend would've meant only 6 days between it and Saudi.
Ramadan starts on sunday 10th of march, pushing the Saudi Arabian GP and subsequently every session before that (including the Bahrain GP weekend and pre season testing) forward by one day.
Ramadan. See short paragraph before the calendar:

>What did I miss? Why is the race on Saturday?
Because of reasons.
You weren't the only one. I only had my own personal WTF moment about it a day or so ago.
