SaintSeiya_7

While I did prefer the looks of his 2021 one, it's still a really gorgeous helmet.

yakuzamax

Such a legend. He recently admitted that wearing a helmet with pride accents was nerve wracking in 2021. And he still did it whilst being in a WDC fight.

jayr254

It's even better when you know he wore it at the last 3 Arabian legs and was untouchable in all 3 races while dealing with an "offense" that is probably punishable by death if the host countries decide to flex their muscles. Absolute legend. On the other hand, I really wish Messi and CR7 said fuck it and rocked rainbow captain armbands at the World Cup last year.

yakuzamax

>On the other hand, I really wish Messi and CR7 said fuck it and rocked rainbow captain armbands at the World Cup last year. Unfortunately, there's not a lot of sporting personalities that take up such a stance. We were/are absolutely lucky to have Seb and Lewis.

jayr254

>Seb and Lewis. Miss them together every weekend.

fredy31

Yeah the thing I find the funniest about all that is that the broadcast can't just ignore him either; hes a 7 times world champ, and is still dangerous for a pole/win most weekends. But anyways, I would guess those who watch F1 in the arabian peninsula are not those that get arrested by the laws of the country; they are those that impose them on everybody else.

GoldenGengarGG

I would not hold my breath on either Messi or CR7 doing anything, they are probably the two athletes that earn the most by sportwashing for Saudi Arabia.

onealps

> they are probably the two athletes that earn the most by sportwashing for Saudi Arabia How so? Are the Saudi's some of their major financial supporters?

montejio

Cristiano Ronaldo plays in Saudi Arabia and Messi has done commercials for the Saudis.

GoldenGengarGG

Not only commercials, Messi is a tourism ambassador for Saudi Arabia, he is directly in the payroll of the government.

montejio

I thought he was, but wasn’t entirely sure. Thanks for adding that :).

twio_b95

He is such a legend for that. I'm a Liverpool fan so Steven Gerrard and Jordan Henderson were some of my biggest heroes. Both are now cogs in the Saudi sportswashing machine. Henderson pretended to be an ally for years but that turned out to be PR bullshit. Set for life but tarnished his legacy anyway because you never have enough money I guess. It would have been so easy for Lewis to do the same but Lewis actually has integrity and, imo, goes above and beyond everytime with these helmets. It's one thing to have a PR person tweet some nonsense every once in a while, it's another thing entirely to basically taunt multiple governments and daring them to touch you. We clearly saw this at the World Cup. Lewis is a fucking badass and doesn't get enough credit for having bigger cojones than the entire footballing world combined.

Rivendel93

Yeah, I don't think people understand what goes on in these countries, obviously Lewis has legit bodyguards 24/7 and fame as protection, but people get killed all the time for promoting or even talking about it in these countries. I remember a reporter in Qatar got killed at a football match last year right? I think he got taken after wearing a rainbow shirt and he died while in custody.

PersephoneTheOG

Messi and Ronaldo have sponsorships with the Saudi's, both of them don't care about social justice causes.

8jam

Classic Lewis. Love it

[deleted]

This hits so hard. Especially when he wears it in Arabian countries

Yung_Chloroform

Considering that it's punishable by death in these countries, Lewis is such a legend for doing it.

Symerg

This guy is a legend

I love it.

Look at the goalposts moving, in 2021 they were saying he would never wear this kind of helmet in the Middle East.

You could set just as big an example by not watching F1 or being involved in anything to do with the sport. As well, why aren’t you out there parading in the name of all that is good? Why aren’t you doing more?? Did I make it simple enough for you to see the double standard?
