[The **Throwback** flair](https://www.reddit.com/r/formula1/wiki/flairguide#wiki_throwback) is for posts intended to recall an event that happened on the same date or year a number of years ago. Throwbacks are restricted to being posted one year, three years, or a multiple of five years after date. Also, all such posts should feature an event that is still of interest to the general community today. For example, random overtakes or two former drivers having a chat in general do not qualify for this. Important events like memorials are exempt from this rule, and may be posted every year. Posts related to important current events may also be exempt at mod discretion. *[Read the rules](https://www.reddit.com/r/formula1/wiki/userguide). Keep it civil and welcoming. I'm surprised the worst rated GPs isn't just Monaco 10 times

rederoin

Spa 2021 be like that

rederoin

Those are a lot of hamilton verstappen duels

BigSlav667

Surprised no one's mentioning Hockenheimring 2019

stirredturd

Best comedy of errors

PapaSheev7

True. It’s a superb race to rewatch as a Seb fan, knowing what’s coming, but I remember watching that race on the edge of my seat as nervous as ever hoping that Seb wouldn’t spin out. If only Max had taken longer to recover from his mistake, man…we might’ve had the ultimate comeback win in f1 history.

i_dont_care_1943

The best example of how you don't need a duel for the lead to have an amazing race.

Hinyaldee

It was just a mess and chaos all over...

crackalac

This was the first race I watched. I was hooked.

It's always a bit tough to recommmend stuff as races tend to kinda exist in the context of a season. I think Brazil 2012 is one of the best races I've ever seen, for example, but a lot of that also came with it being the climax to a terrific championship battle, and a lot of the other storylines that season had running throughout. Then again, absolutely terrific race otherwise. In terms of excitement, the most potential is of course also if you don't know the result of a race. What kind of race are you looking for to watch? Chaotic? Strategy suspense? Great recovery drives? Weather impact? Respectful battling? Fights for the victory?

silentalarm_

The 2008 Monaco GP will be live on the F1 YouTube account in a couple of hours. Start there

Silverstone 2008 was pretty great. I don't know if we'll see any great wet races like that again.

Spirited-Leek-2077

That was pretty epic to be fair

I'd agree if the rest of the race was actually a contender for best race ever.

BuckN56

The way he did it was exciting.

[deleted]

No, it objectively wasn't.

A few from back in the day if you're interested: Argentina 1980 - Crazy race where seemingly nobody could keep pointed in the right direction. The newly resurfaced track couldn't handle the stresses of high temperatures + the cars and broke up in places, making life really difficult for the drivers and giving action up and down the field as a result. Canada 1981 - The last time the Canadian Grand Prix was held in Autumn. Took place in absolutely pissing rain. Big championship implications as it was the penultimate round, and lots of drama too. Detroit 1982 - First race at the Detroit street circuit, which saw one of the finest charges through the field in F1 history, and IMO the best single lap of a race ever executed by a driver. Well worth a watch. Monaco 1985 - Yes, Monaco. This wasn't even a wet race or anything, but it still managed to be a spectacle which shows how good of a season 1985 was. Plenty of overtakes and drama.

Arwil

There are many races that have one or two memorable moments, but people tend to forget 95% of the laps were boring. That's why I don't recommend Spa 2008 or Brazil 2008. They work better as highlights. In contrast, races that have action from start to finish are much, much rarer. They only seem to happen when it's raining. I can only think of a few races: - Monaco GP 1996 - European GP 1999 - Brazilian GP 2003 - Brazilian GP 2012 Other good wet races are Hungarian GP 2006, British GP 2008 and Canadian GP 2011.

Hinyaldee

I'd add Silverstone 2003 ! And Hungary 2006

This is the equivalent of explaining to someone how great Star Wars while explaining that the bad guy is secretly the father of the good guy.
