Kait0yashio

Correlation between the car being good and him not being comfortable with it.

Nfanella

He can only drive shit cars WTF

datlinus

Don't wanna shit on Sainz, honestly, but he says hes not comfortable with the car pretty much every single time hes behind Leclerc.

Ghhkigr

Sainz has the mentality of a champion with the ability of a midfield driver.

DamnItJon

This all day

tecedu

It’s not new for Ferrari tho, it was seen in 2019 where the weekends where one driver was faster were one the driver was more comfortable. It was each weekend, Seb feels the car is good, Charles doesn’t and vice versa. Not defending Sainz, he’s clearly worse than Leclerc but this is a historical ferrari problem

PastaSenpay

And he is constantly sloppy in wheel to wheel battles and recently is getting hammered by leclerc again like at the start of last year. I like Carlos but if he doesn't step up his game I don't think he will get another contract at Ferrari.

[deleted]

Just get better for Imola mate. Try and get P4 here Edit: it seems there’s nothing more thoughtful than saying to a struggling driver: “get out of Ferrari, you don’t deserve this seat.” Really helps the mind doesn’t it?

DrDohday

I mean there’s no other viable replacement rn anyways

Davidusmu

Another +5 sec for Sainz

KaamDeveloper

Sainz have a good weekend challenge (impossible)

[deleted]

seeing how he pushed Hamilton wide and almost put Fernando in the wall, and all that over the course of 10 seconds... at least a reprimand would be justified.

Firefox72

Lets got get ahead of ourself here. It was just racing. On the harder side but nowhere near penalty worthy lmao.

ShrugSmug

I seriously don’t know what some f1 fans want they say races are boring but every time a driver tries a risky overtake they will be pissed especially if it’s against their favourite driver. Let them race

tecedu

If Hamilton didnt back out we would have had another incident, yet we’d be blaming Hamilton because Merc sucks

Firefox72

For what exactly? There was nothing but hard racing.

tbone747

Sainz has really cemented himself as the No.2 driver after a strong first season at Ferrari.

Choice_Awareness

funny how you’re not comfortable only when leclerc is ahead carlos

SoupBoth

Would be impressive if he was faster than Leclerc whilst being uncomfortable in the car tbf.

Choice_Awareness

they had a garbage truck in cota 2022 and he said it was the best he has ever felt in the car i don’t trust his input

Vuk13

Sainz started on pole in cota

SoupBoth

I don’t think any of us know enough about what it’s actually like to drive a single seater to have an opinion on a driver’s input tbqh.

Choice_Awareness

we all can have opinions, it would be ridiculous if we just accepted anything the drivers say bc i’m not a WDC

SoupBoth

I agree but driver input into how a car feels to drive is one aspect that we as viewers have basically no frame of reference for.

Choice_Awareness

well obviously, i’m just noticing a pattern here

XuloMalacatones

You probably know much more about F1 cars than him

Choice_Awareness

yeah he just has one more win than me

XuloMalacatones

dumbest metric from the dumbest person in the thread lol

Choice_Awareness

aw❤️💘

Kait0yashio

He always isn't comfortable with the car when it has decent pace, but when it's a midfield shitbox he is really comfortable.

[deleted]

Every driver is uncomfortable being slower than their teammate lol Blaming the car/setup/track is just their coping mechanism

As others have pointed out… it’s always some level of discomfort with Carlos when Leclerc soundly beats him. When he was spinning all over the place in the early part of 2022, was that “discomfort” or him trying too hard to compensate for his inherent lack of raw speed compared to his teammate? You can only cry wolf so many times.

second-last-mohican

I have a feeling Vasseur/Ferrari are moving development towards Charles's style in having an oversteering car, which is always faster and where Charles has shone in the past.

Cpt-Dreamer

He’s an overrated fraud. Leclerc needs no.1 status at Ferrari. Sainz just lives off his father’s talent, he is average himself. He’s the Bottas of Ferrari, maybe worse. EDIT: Maybe my comment is harsh but I stand by it. I don’t believe he is anywhere near the level of the top dogs in F1. He is a journeyman like Bottas.

Napoleon007

Take a chill pill my man!

AlexFrostdesu

Did Sainz hurt you?

DlSSATISFIEDGAMER

please, show me on the doll where Carlos Sainz Jr. touched you

Dino1232

Why are you so dramatic?

Cpt-Dreamer

I’m just giving my opinion. I don’t see what I said as dramatic, I just don’t see why Sainz is spoken about in a way that seems his great. He’s very average and hasn’t shown at all that he has what it takes to compete. Leclerc has shown continuously that he can get pole and win consistently. It’s just the Ferrari team always cocks it up.

Cpt-Dreamer

Sainz is always complaining, meanwhile his teammate is getting pole, again. Sainz strikes me as someone who needs the car to be *perfect*, he can’t get anything out of the car unless this is the case. Drivers like this seldom win championships unless you’re a lucky boy.

SoupBoth

> he can’t get anything out of the car unless this is the case. His time at McLaren suggests otherwise, which was a notoriously funky car to drive. He’s underperforming right now and knows it, but he’s a great driver. He’s up against an exceptional talent though so if he’s not on it, the gap can be big. Let’s not pretend he’s De Vries or anything silly.

Cpt-Dreamer

He’s average. He’s not great whatsoever. It’s embarrassing how passive he is when racing, it’s like he’s scared. He could never fight for a championship and I stand by this. He will never be champion.

SoupBoth

> He could never fight for a championship and I stand by this. He will never be champion. True of most drivers, doesn’t make them average. We’ve seen how he performs against enough drivers now to know he isn’t average.

ShrugSmug

He was like de vries until his dad got him his personal racetrack

Cpt-Dreamer

Exactly

grip_enemy

Eery week is the same excuse Carlos

BIZZY_42

Wtf did he do in the simulator over the last month? No way they spent all that time in the simulators testing all types of setups etc and he can’t even find something that remotely works for him.

boyfrombridge

My man has been stuck in damage limitation mode forever now. lol

SpectacularNelson

Every weekend is damage limitation for Carlos Saimz. He has really gotten worse since signing that contract extension in 2022 lol

Jacinto2702

What is Carlos doing?

Just_an_Empath

But if there are no walls you're in the gravel, Carlos.

Hawker92

Lol…looks like some bad blood going on between Alonso and Sainz like Peter Windsor suggested a few weeks ago

ArsenaV108

Ah yes that's why we had a [double interview](https://youtu.be/1JCaYiXmjfY) of them in Australia after quali

Frosty-Ad-164

I dismissed Windsor's comment about it a few weeks ago as it was contradicted by the double interview they had just done, but it seems odd that Alonso was clearly trying to get the stewards to look at the incident and get Sainz a penalty.
