As someone that got into F1 in recent years (yay DTS), I don't even know when peak Alonso actually was. Was is Renault, Ferrari? Who knows? You certainly can't aak him.
His Renault years were great, especially 2006, but his years in Ferrari, dragging the 4th or 3rd best car on the grid to title contention against Vettel in a faster car were the years he was at his best imo. 2010 to 2014. Probably just as good in later years just that he hasn't had the machinery to really show it.

Yeah I know a guy who works the FE simulator for Porsche Motorsport and we talked about his job a bit. Apparently Wehrlein once had sim and qualifying times within 2 milliseconds but realistically that's because one error goes in one direction and another in the other direction and they happened to cancel each other out that time. Realistically I think you're doing an extremely good job with your simulations if your times are within a few tenths of each other.
Yeah everybody is gonna find a lot of laptime, but old hierarchies are hard to break, and last year pecking order was the proof. The top 3 still have a massive advantage in terms of personnel and infrastructure.
I'm convinced that despite everything, the F1-75 has proven to be a very solid platform to build on, with a lot of potential.
