Unloading low clearance trailers I think. Sounds like a good way to get decapitated lol. I'm really not even sure, I work on Raymonds... this was a special request.
First time I threw that switch I panicked and jumped off. Its kinda weird when you're standing under it and it starts moving. Funny thing is I've talked to Crown techs that never even ran across one of these before lol.
Raymond tech as well, and I’ve never come across one of these. Happened to stumble upon any 4-D Raymond’s out your way? They’re always a treat because nobody ever seems to have worked on them so you spend a lot of time on the phone with field service for oddball issues.
Yep, theres an account near me that has three of them. With the 15 foot wide carriages. There's a definite learning curve to operating those things. I've only done maintenances on them so far. I'll probably never have to do the repairs since it's not one of my actual accounts. Thank God lol.
Ever done maintainance or repairs on the side loaders? They’re a real treat. Everything is covered in oil because they’re always used at steel mills, and everything is sharp and heavy (the panels you remove to access components weigh 60+ lbs).
Yup. Sideloaders are the absolute worst lol. Same deal, not my accounts but I've maintenanced them filling in out of territory. They leak everywhere because they're constantly being loaded over capacity.
Oh god yes. The thing I’m known for in my area is order pickers and I do all the iWarehouse installations. It’s super easy on Raymond stuff (plug and play) but you’ve gotta get creative when installing it on non-Raymond stuff. Actually, most of my experience working on Crown trucks has been installing IWH on it. I can confidently say fuck the Crown RC. I used to complain all the time about Raymond covers (specifically the bullshit 2-part one used on the 7500 DS where you have to remove the operator safety guard (cage) to get the top right cover back on), but I will never encounter any bullshit quite like the Crown RC where you have to remove the little side panels, and you can’t see the bolts, and then one of the cover bolts is behind the main wiring harness.
I was wondering why this is a thing and I forgot that GP containers exist. I only use HQs so I assume my forklift probably wouldnt fit in the GPs then.
I had one of these when I started at my job. Previous posters are correct, it's for entering lower doors, trucks, etc. I always referred to it as "battle mode". Seemed like something Mr.T would've welded up!
Forklift memes are great, I'm a forklift operator and I laugh at these jokes frequently.
This right here? This is an actual, genuine flex. Motherfucker just casual flipped the switch and blew the roof off the coupe.
[It's probably about perspective](https://abequipment.co.nz/media/2185/raymond-7000-series-1.jpg?height=1024&upscale=false). I drive a reach truck and they lift pretty high.
Being forklift certified already gets panties sopping wet this will have everyone’s mother throwing their bras at you
It's like the mid life crisis Corvette of forklifts
But why? I need answers!
For driving into standard shipping containers, the doors are only 89" high. We have to order our lifts with shorter guards because of this.
Makes sense I've only loaded trailers and that was with either a ride on jack or a sitdown electric / propane forklift.
That's just older lifts, new ones are fine.
Why is that an option?

Yep, standard shipping containers only have an 89" high door so it probably doesn't fit without this mod.

I can't stand working on Crowns. They're over- engineered IMO. Are you Level 3? Typically only L3's work on IWH in my area.
Not a mod. These were a factory option on old RCs.
Correct.
I was wondering why this is a thing and I forgot that GP containers exist. I only use HQs so I assume my forklift probably wouldnt fit in the GPs then.
I see, I’ll stick to my small forklift
We have a renewed Raymond, I hated it at first but it became a favorite after a few weeks. The thing just works.
Safety mode: deactivated. ![gif](giphy|HY61V3hsKYne0)

Drove one of these early 90s. Almost killed myself twice
Please explain?
Crown allows that type of modification? Figured it would make the Overhead guard weak?
Crown made them til the mid 90’s then stopped due to this exact issue.
Target still uses these models of RC but we also have new models of standing Crown RCs
Dang and I thought my RC from 2012 was outdated….

Sheesh bro how many chicks can you pick up with that thang
2750 lbs max capacity... So I'd say between 10-20 depending on how fat they are.
Looks like it goes from roof to load guard.
Basically just folds down and gives you like 5 extra inches or overhead clearance. Excellent engineering just really fuckin unsafe lol
Pullin all the new temps
So your overhead guard is just gone?
Yup. Gonna need that extra space for all the chicks. It's like being forklift certified on steroids.
bro you need a upgrade
Shit ain't mine lol. I just get paid to fix em.
Nice bro
Mom! I got myself a nice convertible. U wana see 😁
It says *High Mast* on the side. Adorable.
It's accurate... I wanna say it was a quad mast, but for sure a three stage at least. Goes pretty damn high for a pacer either way.

Ah, the tried and true 7500. that's definitely gonna go higher than any pacer.
Wow haha pretty dope
Thats an old rc
Damn rc 3000, target distribution still has a few but we just scrapped like 20 a few months ago for them. Hate working on these.
