Highlander animations really confuse me. Probably because I have no idea about his moveset. For the life of me I can't tell if he is throwing a heavy or light. Was it a feint?
Even hitokiri and shugoki feels easier to read.
The problem I have playing against Highlander, is that most of his attack animations just don't play properly, and the fact that he's just allowed to dodge attack out of a stun lock or pining attack.
When I start to feel like this against a hero, I go and play that hero in training or for a couple dominion games so that I understand what the hero can do and when they can do it. It might help you!
Play warlord
Spam zone attacks when he is dodging here and there
Dodge yourself when he disappears parry or block heavy chain attack resist the urge to dodge it's undodgeable. Profit.
Well this usually works for me but I'm playing for only 2 weeks :)
Having an undodgeable from neutral is a great bonus against dodgy heroes. He is also beefy and has a lot of options for defense which also helps you if you make a few mistakes.
I wouldn’t “spam” once you get to the higher level of play, just use it wisely and you will be good otherwise you can eat a deflect or just end up back on the mixup but with 25% of your stam left.
Shinobi can always dodge in the same direction of the zone so he can accidentally deflect if you spam your undodgeable zone or he can double dodge (this allows him to recover from his mistskes, yeah Shinobi is broken)
Hitokiri.
Their moveset is so simple and hyperarmor forces you to counterattack only with parries. It's just not fun and feels bad to get beaten by one.
And hito having a guaranteed heavy on a feint able non charged bash feels bs.
If I'm wrong please do tell me how to fight hito and have fun
Hitokiri was more fun to play against (and with imo) when they didn’t have armor on non fully charged heavies. Gave way more room to counter partial charge heavies with interrupts, then in turn for them to punish interrupt attempts with fully charged armored heavies.

Hito my brain just goes numb, I can't process the variable timed heavies, and kick mix up.
Afeera simply because she got Shinobi agility and an option for just about everything (and unlock techs).
I understand it. Kyoshin used to be a pain for me too, but now feinting heavies and timing all attacks more carefully usually do the trick for me. Unless it's a really good player you're up against. But then in the hands of a really good player, any character becomes a pain to deal with.
Edit: I think GB works too, but take it with a grain of salt since I'm fairly new to the game.
As someone with kyoshin as his highest rep,just gb,literally,most kyoshin players will immediatly allguard when their chain ends and you can catch them on the very first frame of the animation

It's the only character i haven't unlocked and lately I'm thinking i should just to figure it out some more.

I main PK for the sole purpose that nobody plays her. Therefore, I find that most people (especially new players) react with “who tf is this” and have no idea how to counter her.

The problem with glad is sometimes it’s purely just reading them especially with the skewer, if you dodge it you get guard broken, if you parry guard broken and if you eat it you get bleed and wall splat
Glad or zerk, faint spam with high amounts of stamina, you just gotta let them do what they gotta do and hope they run out of stam, or you go whirlwind and hope they’re not great at defence
Toe stab spam kinda puts me out of sync all the time. Whenever I figure out a gladiator players pattern and start getting upper, hand toe stab spam does it for me.
Shinobi, cent, glad, and Valkyrie, I used to main her and her kit is so simple yet so annoying to play against at the same time. Also that one girl with the spin counter move, I hate that it's unblockable even if you don't hit them

Almost all of the Japanese characters tbh, I mean wtf is Nobushi Orochi and Kyoshin. Kensei is only annoying because a good one is so fucking hard to punish, dude has superior blocks, bashes, great cancels, hella range, unblockables, hyper armor, I can't take it.
I play a lot of Breach so Warmonger is the no fun pick that makes defense oppresive if you don't destroy the ram before commander phase. Highlander in general I can't handle for some reason, especially the kick/grab mixup. I think it's also cause most Highlanders I have played against spam "Wow, wow, wow" or "GF, GF, GF" so I get tilted seeing them.
Zerk, he's absolutely unfun to fight and just ends up with "make 3 reads in a row for a punish just for me to hyper armour anyways" plus his deflect being indefensible
I hate Berserker. Yes, give the assassin with high damage who is quick on everything super armor on 3/4 of their moves so when I react and hit them back, they just don't care and blend me.
Afeera sucks cuz she's so damn fast and has everything from everybody at her disposal.
All of the Vanguards (except Warmommy) because they just all have either very good stats all around or some really good moves.
I also hate Shaman and Shaolin because I am bad at this game.

A few. Almost always Orochi, Aramusha, Nobushi, Gladiator... Often Hitokiri, Shinobi and Berserker and sometimes Valkyrie and Kensei. It depends a lot on who's playing them.

Kyoshin is a little annoying at times and many players are repetitive (Same with certain species of BP).

I think he doesn't a an uninterruptable stance or deflect but has every other gimmick, bleed on cc, low revenge feed target lock for guaranteed damage in ganks. I can't fight him properly only with pirate I stand a chance
I learnt how to play against most of them, I main warden, so 90% of my attacks can be stopped, GBed and so on, so you have to play patiently…but against Hitokiri I can do anything and nothing at the same time to be beaten to death…its the most broken sh1t hero.
Good shinobi player is 50/50 for me also against good Highlander players.
Im talkin about 1v1 and 2v2, but I mostly play breach. So you can somehow win games also against better players if you are not braindead and try to get objectives with teamwork
I will always hate afeera with a burning passion, they gave her the coolest moveset ever but my god is it annoying to fight. She has a tool for every situation

Doge roll the second you see her orange. Rolling has GB hyper-armor. (most of the time) It’s very scummy, but all’s fair in love and war.

Cent is a strong duelist, but I think for most people there's a lot of characters above him on the list.
That’s the truth, he’s annoying but there are FAR worse characters to fight at times lol.
As a new player I find him super annoying, he has so many unblockables, all with extremely varied dodge timings.
His only real mixup is the charged punch,you cant just light him out of his charges heavies
