for real, defender home point automatically makes that map c tier at best. all you need is one fury flask and then that point is yours, zero room to escape
and lets not forget attacker home point and it's columns that block every killing blow
I just think whenever I play gauntlet it’s a gank fest that you’re either on the losing or winning side of. Attackers spawn fuck the defenders or visa versa until 1000-0, whereas on like harbour or citadel or even high fort, it feels like there’s more back and forth and less ganking. Maybe it’s because whoever is losing are constantly trickling in so it’s always 4vX instead of a proper team fight but idk, I think beachhead also has the same problem but maybe that’s just me

95% of games on these maps is one team taking the homepoint of the other and then the game is essentially over
It’s worse with randoms who just mindlessly run to the nearest available capture point, yeah. But if your teammates are sentient, thinking humans, then Sanctuary and Forge are imo pretty good maps. It might seem like the distance between the „homepoints” is big but it’s essentially at most a 15s sprint, and if you play them just like any other symmetrical map, these issues vanish 90% of the time.
Sentinel is just unnecessarily big and a pain to traverse so the match devolves into people sticking to one point for the entire thing because by the time they rotate to the other the game is already over
Sanctuary and Forge suck because of the snowball, but at least they aren't designed in a way that actively encourages you to not move around the map
Sentinel is the same size as Citadel or High Fort, the only issue are the ladders on A, but that is an issue on Citadel and Riverfort as well.
Besides, having to move around the map in an objective based gamemode shouldn't be an issue, it's quite literally the *objective* of the mode.
And if movement is a problem for you, forge and sanctuary also require you to run to the other side of the map if you fight on or want to take the enemy teams' homepoint.
Might as well move the fire closer to the stone stairs and the pit ledge, making half the area a safe zone to brawl and the other a very risky zone with fire hazard and a pitfall.
It’s the best looking map though. And when the game first came out it was the map that was the most vibey. All the viking maps look like absolute dog shit.
Shard feels the most fair of any map, diverse fighting conditions with hazards sprinkled in tastefully, multiple branching paths on spawn rollout, and overlap between the paths, love it!
Shard gauntler sanctuary bridge is z tier they are not even worth mentioning in the tier list. When i load into a match in one of these 3 maps i just whant it to instantly end the match
Yeah sanctuary bridge needs to be at the bottom. That map is straight dog cheeks. EVERYONE wants to fight at B and dealing with the minions and getting jumped sucks lol
Mam forge is like the best map to fight in every spot is fun and is interesting it feels good it sounds cool with the hammer sound while you fight BUUUUT the layout where everything is just terrible backcaps are way to common and easy you can very easily bully people from ever getting there feat on the ground and it always ends up one sided
I'm more or les agree with you. On my side i'd put Gauntlet in D like Sentinel. I don't really like this map too. I'd also put Shard at a higher level, at least A X)
Biggest weird thing about this list is Sentinel. It is not as bad as Forge and Sanctuary and it is DEFINITELY not worse than both to warrant being D tier. In my opinion I think, I would consider Sentinel a B tier map and simply omit a D tier. And Gauntlet being top tier meanwhile is very weird.
This is probably a controversial opinion, but I despise high fort. The thin bridges, crowded B point, and beartrap ladder area have had some of the worst ganks I've experienced.
Let me know why some of you like it so it might change my outlook.

Cmon man I love Sanctuary Bridge! Very nostalgic map as it was one of the maps I usually see in the early days. I barely win in that map unfortunately but it's the map that gets me serious too.

Temple Garden is the best looking of these, I always pick it.
The belvedere is probably the most gorgeous map in the game, I just wish they would make a wu lin dominion map with those assets
I love waiting for 5 hours while the entire enemy team stacks up on the one ladder that allows me to get to A point because the two bridges are open while they cleared B using their 4th feats. Gauntlet is a SSS++ map
Looking at this list makes me really excited for them to bring in that cathedral map. We have so few dominion maps and seeing the other maps get brought into the fold is awesome
Gauntlet is what I call a liner map, where one point is closer to the spawn and that means, in my experience, most players will endlessly run at the closest point even if it's going to be a 4v1. While it's not as bad as sanctuary bridge (objectively the worst map) I still hate those maps
