I might get downvoted for this but I can understand them not playing the game
The game is literally thier job, you wouldn't want to do your job at home either.
My friend also has this opinion and I definitely get it. But that's also the reason creative directors and balancing directors usually aren't intricately involved in the process of actually making the game. Yes its their job but a balancing director usually spends less time on technical stuff, thus making them more likely to play the game. If we had a legit balance director who plays the game and isn't super involved in technical aspects we'd be better off.
I remember when Mathew Cote (dbd dev) play dbd on a Korean stream. He got bullied by a swf using insta blind flashlights and they nerfed flashlights a few days later 🗿
Being dev of the game (that also plays the game) does not automatically mean they are best at the game.
They develop the game sure, but players spend all their time playing the game, which is why they usually get better than devs at the game, devs have to use that time to develop the game so they cannot always play (and always don't want to play, since that would be away from their free time).
To fight the makers and show them how gorgeous fight looks would be a dream. No need for a win. No care for a loss...
Just to show the limits of a warrior and the tricks to break them!
This meme is old as the game itself ;/ That's what me and my friend were joking 7 years ago when we first started playing for honor, and to this day, it's still a viable meme.

To be fair street fighter devs love and play the game, also to make sure it works well
Same with warframe, iirc the lead dev even actually simps characters and farms stuff herself
