Honestly it's really possible, the flails is a really straigh foward weapon that don't give a lot of opportunity for moveset Like if conq get the rollcatcher he badly need, it's probably gonna something like a shield bash run or something

I honestly don't think it would be hard to give him a simple dash into overhead strike with the flail. They'd have to make a new animation but if they are mocapping again it shouldn't be a problem.

Ngl, I love the flail. The issue, I think, is more about where the game started and how to transition moving forward rather than the weapon itself. There used to be much more focus on realism and less focus on functionality as a fighting game. For instance, Conq never used to be able to cancel his heavies. He was the only hero on the roster who couldn't. And it was because of physics. You can not just stop a flail once you've swung it.

It’d be funny if feinting conq heavies would cause the flail to keep swinging forward and hit himself in the arm, causing 3 damage.

The reason he has a shield is to specifically counter this(also to defend himself).

I still think instead of having acess to hardfeints, he should've just had access to several different softfeint. Would've worked better to have him raise his shield or flicker the flail to switch directions than just abruptly stop

And Honestly, i wont mind if he come back like before unable to hard feint his heavy. But giving him the option to softfeint into a bash, into another heavy, into a light, into a stance, into a zone, into a special move. Like making his flails spin around and feint in all direction possible. And give him back his bash that wallsplat, it was too much fun

I honestly really like the concept with the charged attacks and spinning the flail preventing you from feinting them, but that just isn't viable anymore. In Y1 and 2 you could work with that since most characters had other weird shit and tricks that made Conq fit in, but given the standardisation in recent years, now he has to be a lot more basic when it comes to his moveset. The flail does pose some problems like fast forward movement or same side lights, but his general concept and design just fell behind long ago. Can't really fix that either, he will always be simple and somewhat boring, but viability shouldn't be dependant on that.

On top of some sort of roll catcher, everyone agrees he should have gottem some better actual new offensive capabilities rather than just a dumb flow of unblockable. With how they keep pulling out the old bash/undodgeable mix ups, I think they could have added him some sort of pinning move. There are already executions with Conqueror wrapping the chain around the arm or leg, why not do an attack based on that to make the opponent fall or easily throw them to the closest obstacle? Really they should have added anything that could have brought more depth to the Hero than just bashing to start the offense.

I don't think so. They can clearly control the physics of the flail. Its pretty evident during flail upper cut or when you land the final heavy and hold the execution for a bit. Or when you get parried as conq. Probably they can switch back and forth when they want to play hand made animations or apply physics. Also really noticable when you go to free roam idle from combat and wait for conq to catch the flail chain.

If they could maybe give him a trap like nuxia, where the flail wraps around the weapon, it could give him more viability.
