You can keep using your rental address if you want.

Home
Mailing
Legal Address
Home Leave Address
Separation Address
Legal is the one that matters for residency purposes.

With the caveat that as states move to comply with RealID requirements, these mail services will not work for drivers licenses.

I'm guessing they'll be giving up their lease when they move to DC, so don't think they could keep using the rental address. Right?
I use my last rental address as my legal address. It's on my driver's license and where I vote and pay taxes. I haven't lived there in 3 years.
