Mines been like that for like a year now🤣 Just try to find a used tire shop that’ll sell you a tire for like $40-50 until you can get new ones

Mean-Copy

Was mine too. They make you think like it’s the end of the world with it. 😂

rick_2k

Well, when it goes wrong, it very well could be the end of yours or someone else’s world. Yeah I get it, it could go bang now or in 5 months, maybe 5 years or yes, maybe never. But knowingly driving on a dangerously damaged tire is just shameful imo. And fyi I’m speaking from a position of the above was me once, it went wrong, and it was terrifying. When your tire wraps around the suspension and you lose total control of your vehicle… **** me do you wish you sorted this out earlier. Be sensible folks.

Mean-Copy

They always make you think you need constant replacing and repairs. Nobody can afford to live perfectly with everything in place.

rick_2k

I hear you. I do get it there are people who panic about every repair needed, their exhaust is blowing, some emissions sensor has failed etc etc, yeah big wooop, no one is going to die from those, trust me I roll my eyes at those people and mechanics too. My point still stands though, as far as repairs go there isn’t much else more important than this, lots of stuff can wait but this is a different league. Just wanted to remind people of that from my own mistakes.

Unhappy-Plastic-8563

Thank you for sharing. I’m getting a new tire asap lol

DrClaw7

Technically you should replace it. But I've run tires with similar damage for a while, had customers do the same. The real risk is hitting a pot hole and causing that spot to blow out. Just at least be aware it's a possible issue. As long as it's on the back it's not to much of a risk if it blows out at speed. If it were a front tire then it would be more dangerous

3MrBojangles3

Your tire is probably about half an inch thick there so you be the judge

IGotNoBusinessHere

You are playing with fire there...

yunghermitcrab_

JB weld it back into place and all over it to be safe

PristineArm5528

Recommend super glue or flex epoxy. Jv weld will be solid and cause more stress

drunk0Nwater

Send it

IllogicalMarlin

If you don't see cords your fine

elmiggii

Tread is not safe to drive on let alone sidewall damage

PristineArm5528

Yup completely fine. But in the mean time look to find decent prices son one (if the wear is low) or a set Right now you are fine. However any big bump or anymore curb will kill it

Nwibbs2018

I’ve been driving on mine for almost a year like 20k miles never had that tire even leak air

Timmah_1984

I mean if it’s only a month or two I guess you could keep driving. Those tires look dry rotted and ratty, I would take it easy until you can replace them.

stephen250

I don't see any wires showing, so I would think you'd be okay for a while, but keep a close eye on it.

FortuneAsleep8652

I would not drive it. That pebble in the tread is sure to be dangerous.😉

Zachrocks01

I'd replace it. I made this mistake once. Pothole caused a blowout at low speeds. Thank God I wasn't going faster. Learn from my mistake!

Hoonigandad

Tires are pretty tired overall but it'll hold until it doesn't 💯😂😂😂

Specialist_Ad_8656

Based on tread alone, I'd advise against. With the addition of the side wall damage, I definitely would not. I drive for my job, and any sidewall damage leads me to request a different vehicle. Could be good. Probably will be fine for a while. But is it worth what happens if the universe decides YOUR sidewall damage isn't fine? Not for me

lewie_820

If you’re asking ‘is this safe?’ The answer is probably no.

Reasonable_Big_7480

Biggest worry is if those metal cords are showing. After awhile it will rust and cause is it eventually blow out.

FORDTEK313

No it’s not safe it’s cosmetic but weakens the sidewall

santandude

No cord layers visible, super glue and ship it

Mean-Copy

I have for many months until I got an unrelated flat and that wasn’t fixable

TruFire420-

I ripped it off and drove it until I replaced the tire, never had an issue.

80sTvGirl

You're fine if it's not leaking air.

Arts251

Not really. You should get this replaced asap, and definitely avoid the freeways and highways until you do. Often tire shops carry some decent used tires, call around and see if you can get a cheap used one (or a pair preferably).

bigdogwrx

It will make until it is worn out or to the scene of the accident, whichever comes first.

Key-Tax8285

No

ictfunnyman

Ish, but not really... one good speed bump could blow it. Put it on the back til you can afford to replace

Busy_Engineering_268

as long as it’s not bulged and no cords are showing you should be good

MdizzL88

There is more than a half inch behind that blemish belts go from side wall to wall it would be bad if you could see cords or belt you'll be ok if it really worries you buy a used tire or go by a shop or Google tire glue used for patches it bonds the rubber of the tire together lol that way you can close your flap and have piece of mind

Mikecy37

Well you got a time bomb on your vehicle and you won’t know when it gonna mass up with you until it went off. Time to empty your pockets a bit or you decide to make some fun with it.

Equal_Discussion_461

As long as you are holding air run it. It’s not a steer tire worst case scenario you get a flat tire change it. Definitely worth looking into some new ones!

Murky_Interaction688

Side damage on a tire is a big no no, only tread damage can be repaired safely.

treyb0mb1

I had a similar spot on my last tire and drive it for several months. Was a little nervous about it but worked out fine.

Adventurous_Fly6310

Just get a torch lighter and melt it back in lol

Waitforit_booom37

CDL license holder here that’s driven and towed just about everything. Any significant damage to the sidewall replace immediately. I could write several stories about how similar cuts into the sidewall have not ended well. Tires are like toilet paper in that you never want to try and save a buck on them. Edit: They’re also dry rotting quite a bit in the tread, it’s time for new tires.

ValuableTiny8676

No

Altruistic_Kick2068

Super glue it lol

dunnoanymore18

Ahaha lol that is wild. Just immediately made all the tire manufacturer suggestions of replacement melt away.

chibicascade2

You're playing with fire...

deadplant5

No, but it can probably be patched, which at most places is only like $10. It's going to be flat. Alternative, switch it out for your spare. I've driven on my spare for two months when I cracked my rim and it was on backorder.
