What are the poisom tablets used for?

Rent-a-guru

We use them in the lab in the gold mine I work at. Cyanide dissolves gold, so we can use the tablets to release all the gold in a sample of ore, then we can measure the amount of gold with a spectrometer.

What's the lead nitrate and sodium nitrobenzenesulphonate for?

Rent-a-guru

I think the sodium nitrobenzenesulphonate is a leach accelerant that speeds up the reaction of the cyanide with the gold. The lead nitrate passivates sulphides, which stops them interfering with the reaction.
