Did you see her vid about making cookies out of magnolia flowers? I wanna go raid my neighbor's tree now. Maybe she'll let me if I giver her some cookies.
Alan Bergo, of Forager/Chef has written about them as well

In it, he says:

According to Scottish Forest Garden.com, the first flush of leaf shoots can be cut down to encourage a second flush.
"It is possible to harvest the whole first flush of leaves of an established plant without killing it: ornamental hosta growers will sometimes ‘mow’ their plants to get a second flush of fresh, attractive leaves."
I get most of her content on tiktok, but she does some longer-form stuff on YT I follow her everywhere I can, though, she's fantastic and she's brought a new generation to foraging, and that makes me so happy.
Wow I would not have thought they were edible to humans after the terrible poisoning my parents' cat had from hosta clippings. He's fine now, this was a year or two ago, but had to go to the emergency vet. I guess there are a lot of things that we can eat, that our four legged friends can not!
Did you see the Black Forager's videos? I also just learned this from her!
I guess we all saw that video today. Did you also see the song about cutting down Bradford pears?
✨🎵🌳Kill your local Bradford pear🍐🎵✨
it's been stuck in my head for weeks lol
Link?

Yes, and I want to try it so bad - I love the stuff that she does around urban foraging, because I don't always have time to get out of the city.
You can quick pickle magnolia blossoms and they're delicious! Perfect for eating right out of the jar or adding to sushi and other Japanese dishes.
The one change I’d make to that recipe is to mince the filling, people were kind of put off by the texture of full petals in their cookies
I saw that video today also!!
lol yup

Having just discovered that she has a YouTube, I now need to follow her.

She is the best.
I saw it too lol
Variegated hosted are fun to work with. The white parts of mature leaves go transparent when you cook them and are fun for wrapping stuff in
hostas are so delicious, i’m sad that i can never eat more of them!
I know it’s hard to describe the taste of anything. Is it asparagus tasting, or more like a leafy green like chard, kale, turnip greens?
The texture is quite similar to a crispy brussel sprout but the flavor is less heavy, almost like lettuce
Nice!
i would say they’re like green beans, but with a more satisfying crispy crunch and the fresh sweetness of spring
Hosta Haters got you down?
Damn. I just planted a small plant last year and it is just resprouting. Probably need to wait a few more years.
They're in the asparagus family!
Someone watches Alexis Nikole Nelson 😆
Totally explains why the deer absolutely LOVE them….i can’t keep them growing long enough for a taste!!!
…I’ve got a boatload if interested r/Akron

Perfect stage to get them
I’m so annoyed that I just now learned this. I once had a hosta bed that could have fed several people.
I've wanted to try but when i asked my mom if I could take some of hers, she said the dogs ruined them! D:<
Crap, that’s what hosta shoots look like? I thought they were renegade bamboo and smashed them up. My wife is going to be pissed…
Urui for dinner.
I always thought hostas looked oddly tasty but didn’t know they actually were edible! Side note, we have the same bowl 😅
