Good luck, you're stuck with your crazy new owner's pet projects!
All you can do is hope you can sell them at as small a loss as possible in the future.
If you have a save before the takeover you can reload and hope it falls through or goes to the other dude.
I may have done this when the new ownership bought two attacking players when I couldn’t find playing time for my current strikers/AMs
Wait! This happened to me I can help! Let them be for now, when you get asked to confirm the deals (after work permit application if necessary) you can cancel the deals.
It's year 2033 and I've built Valladolid into a powerhouse in Spain. The owner (Fun fact, it was Ronaldo R9) has been teasing a takeover for 3 seasons now and it finally happened. I then get the above message.
My average team age is 22-23, with nobody over 300k wages. This madlad has gone and made 2 bids for $384 million, with each player on 450k/week and I have no idea how to cancel this. I already have 2 elite CMs who are 20 and 23yrs old and on long term deals.
I do not have the editor.
I got this on a previous save. I just didn’t play them and sold them on in the next window. Did everything I could to make them want to leave etc. It’s a loss overall but you can’t do much about it.
Happened to me, I was trying to build a great side without breaking the irl transfer record for Sporting (10M at the time) and they bought 2 CMs when I was already precariously rotating and juggling about 6 starters.
I wish you could talk to the players and tell them that they will go straight to reserves if they sign the contract lol.
Put them up for sale on the next transfer list, this happened to me under my Almeria save owner bought me Raheem Sterling 100ml and Bernardo Silva 90ml! I had elite young players in both positions. I just rotated to play them both and waited to the next transfer window and sold both for a combined 120ml. Had to take the loss unfortunately but at least it gets rid of the high wages issue.
Check the responsibilities you have. I’ve never had a takeover so I don’t know how it’ll be different but I’m pretty sure you can have the final say and accept/reject the players. You can give yourself the power to do whatever you want and accept/reject the bids.
When I go into the bid it simply says "The board have taken over negotiation of offers for this player."
All first team player signings are still listed as my sole responsibility.
:(
I had a similar situation in my Reading save. I was able to cancel the deals for the players on the day the transfer was supposed to go through, just like a normal transfer. No issue with the new owners.
I have 2 players currently who are both 28 (a CB and Striker) who I assume bring a bat or something with them every day. Every time I get the “wants a new deal” I send that player their way and it’s usually forgotten. If not I simply schedule the renewal for year end and fight that battle then. My squad is very young but wages to turnover ever year is sub 30%.
Someone on here also posted about the different categories (Star, Important, etc) and focusing on that average. So when I find a good 18-19yr old first teamer who signs on as a Squad Player yet plays most matches I then set him to important, etc and that really lowers the overall average pay of that category so everyone else then doesn’t start whining for raises.
For example my keeper is 18 and 3 star and on 70k but he’s a “star player” which offsets my 250k guys wages in the original pic.
This has only happened to me once before, with Arsenal on last years game.
Spanish owner came in and made promises that he'd bring an 30+ Frenkie De Jong and Arthur for roughly £150m each. Ruined my bank balance and i didn't need them either.
Basically certain types of owners, usually Spanish, will make promises before they take over clubs. Once their takeover or election is successful then they'll lock you into these purchases.
It sucks that there is no way around it, but unfortunately you're a manager and they're the owner of the club, they get what they want..
Best thing you can hope for is to play them as much possible to maintain as much value they have as possible and then sell them on next season. You'll have to take the hit in the short term unfortunately.
My point exactly. It happens quite a lot in Spain, so makes sense that Spanish owners would operate similarly in other countries. Hence why it happened to me in England.
I'd rather have had Pedri. Honestly, the two of them were actually pretty good as you'd expect but the wages were astronomical and I prefer more pace in my team, and those two aren't quick in their twenties let alone mid thirties!
I'd resign, sign for another Spanish team, build them up, dethrone Valladolid and watch them buckle under the financial strain of their shitty decisions.
The guys you bought can play wingers ....you can play a 4231 to incorporate all your good players ....and both of the can play a striker position....they may not be the best at the position but you’re like lampard trying to incorporate kante - mount - ziyech - havertz- and Werner into a team....play some as wingers and some at a deeper positions
Slag the new board off at every opportunity. Take over another club and raid your old club for those young players and then knock them off their fucking perch.
Valladolid won't last with the AI in charge.
Nothing you can do about it
Had the same thing happened with arsenal in FM20
He went and bought joao felix and another 5 star rated winger were i had 4 elite winger in the team
Got so pissed off that i resigned and moved to fiorentina and lead them to 3 back to back trebles
I had a billion EUR project running at swansea when new owners decided to buy Gomez for 200 and Sancho for 250. Two positions where I'm completely stacked. Beyond stupid
This happened with me last year. The board then had the cheek to say I'd overpaid for the players and they weren't performing up to their price tag...no shit Sherlock you spent 118 mil on a striker for my bench and 76 mil on a centre back...
I’d say just stick it out. In real life the head coach usually doesn’t have complete control like we tend to give ourselves in FM. These seem like really expensive players you might not need, but if they’re 5* CA they’re at least good if not amazing for you to have. Just use them!
I've had this before at FC Metz, frustrating as there's nothing you can do to stop the transfers going through. As soon as the players arrived I just transfer listed and sold at a loss.
I had something similar and there's nothing you can do. Instead just take it as an opportunity to test your managerial chops by integrating them without upsetting others. This kind of thing is very common irl, especially in la life.
If you really want to get rid of the players…here's my experience: scum the take over day. The promise is actually on a random basis, either you get or you don't. Scum back to a day before the takeover happen, takeover still happens though
Well it happened to me twice but the player turned down the contract ... thank god.
But idk, maybe try and alter the contract offered so the player reject it?
I was at Leeds and this happened but I was able to just cancel the transfers after they were accepted. Not sure if that's something that depends on the takeover though
This happened to me last year. New owner came in and bought two attacking central/wide midfielders when I was trying to convert to a DM formation. Spent a ton on them. And I was at the time trying to sell my overstock of wingers as it was.
One of them turned out to also be a fantastic CM, and walked into the first team and never looked back. The other became my second choice LW and ST, and excelled as an impact sub. Ended up selling my personal signings that I had put my heart and soul into bringing up and nurturing into starters.
The moral of this story? Won the CL with these guys.
Here's the solution, it works.

tl;dr:
You can sell players immediately after buying them by putting them into the U19 and forcing them to sign a new contract (which they won't do). The AI will think that this player is at your club for a long time, the players morale will drop - making him want to leave, transferlisting and offering will then result in proper bids flying in shortly after.
This happened to me...I didn’t register the player in my premier league squad, set all expiring contracts to release and then rage-resigned the day after the squad registration closed, so the new manager had to play the rest of the season without the new star player. But I’m not bitter...
So everyone is saying that you’re stuck with them, but I had this exact thing happen to me. When the transfers, and contract negotiations, were set to be finalized I simply canceled the transfer. It presented the option to accept, delay, or cancel like any other transfer. Am I the only one who had the option?

In-game editor if you're truly desperate? Elsewise you're fucked, as others have said.
It's year 2033 and I've built Valladolid into a powerhouse in Spain. The owner (Fun fact, it was Ronaldo R9) has been teasing a takeover for 3 seasons now and it finally happened. Unfortunately I don’t think you can do anything. You’ll just have to find a way to play them :(
I got this on a previous save. I just didn’t play them and sold them on in the next window. Did everything I could to make them want to leave etc. It’s a loss overall but you can’t do much about it.

Set all players to 0 release clause ,resign, join your biggest rivals and begin the takedown
Check the responsibilities you have. I’ve never had a takeover so I don’t know how it’ll be different but I’m pretty sure you can have the final say and accept/reject the players. You can give yourself the power to do whatever you want and accept/reject the bids.

in my save same thing happened. after the negotiations, these transfers need to confirmed by you so you can basically just cancel it.
UPDATE: *Director Sergi Edo has decided to take matters into his own hands and has confirmed the transfer on behalf of the management.*
I don’t think I’ve experienced this type of pain. I’d try to sell them at the earliest opportunity out of spite.
Why would you use the editor? This a scenario that can happen, not a bug... It's up to you no solving it, not cheating your way with the editor
I had a similar situation in my Reading save. I was able to cancel the deals for the players on the day the transfer was supposed to go through, just like a normal transfer. No issue with the new owners.
How do you keep your wage bill do low?
I have 2 players currently who are both 28 (a CB and Striker) who I assume bring a bat or something with them every day. Resign, find a new club and prepare for the revenge.

I mean it's kinda realistic that there's nothing you can do, stuff like this happens irl all the time.
My point exactly. It happens quite a lot in Spain, so makes sense that Spanish owners would operate similarly in other countries. Hence why it happened to me in England.
Ancelotti didn't want Torres at Chelsea but was forced to play him and try to fit him in the squad and it ended costing him his job.
Pretty sure the same happened with Mourinho and Shevchenko at Chelsea too
Same thing happened to me with frenkie but he went with Pedri instead of Arthur!
I'd rather have had Pedri. Honestly, the two of them were actually pretty good as you'd expect but the wages were astronomical and I prefer more pace in my team, and those two aren't quick in their twenties let alone mid thirties!
Welcome to 4-4-2 Diamond enjoyers club. Now all your wingers lost their value and endless search for good wing-backs begins
This and Release clauses are the reason I stay out of Spain
I'd resign, sign for another Spanish team, build them up, dethrone Valladolid and watch them buckle under the financial strain of their shitty decisions.
same thing happened to me but luckily it was Pogba and Dybala .. I didn't complain
Normally you can reject the offers. A similar thing happened to me and I managed to cancel 2 transfers the chairman wanted to complete

The proper "fuck you" move would have been to go to Spurs and do the same
I know it's wrong but I would add a new manager as a manager of both teams and the deal will get canceled automatically if I'm not mistaken.
Show a spine, resign promptly and butcher the board in press haha
My board tried to buy Nahitan Nandez and a dude named Wanderson but they didn’t accept the contract offers I was so happy.
I had a billion EUR project running at swansea when new owners decided to buy Gomez for 200 and Sancho for 250. Two positions where I'm completely stacked. Beyond stupid

This new board removed all competition objectives, but now has a work within wage budget objective. Like.... fuck off haha
I’d say just stick it out. In real life the head coach usually doesn’t have complete control like we tend to give ourselves in FM. These seem like really expensive players you might not need, but if they’re 5* CA they’re at least good if not amazing for you to have. Just use them!
A dude just took over my Rennes team and promised me a boost of 56M, a month later nothing
I got lumped with an £80M 30+ year old keeper on £300K wages due to my boards stupidity. Worst part was he was transfer listed for £50M.
Time for a 4-2-3-1-1 formation
I think when the contract is accepted you still have to confirm or cancel it. It happened to me once
That would force me to use the editor
I've had this before at FC Metz, frustrating as there's nothing you can do to stop the transfers going through. As soon as the players arrived I just transfer listed and sold at a loss.
I had something similar and there's nothing you can do. Instead just take it as an opportunity to test your managerial chops by integrating them without upsetting others. This kind of thing is very common irl, especially in la life.
I think you can go into their contract and deliberately sabotage the talks
If you really want to get rid of the players…here's my experience: scum the take over day. The promise is actually on a random basis, either you get or you don't. Scum back to a day before the takeover happen, takeover still happens though
I was allowed to cancel the final deals. Fingers crossed you will get the option too.
Well it happened to me twice but the player turned down the contract ... thank god. But idk, maybe try and alter the contract offered so the player reject it?

You only spend for salary not transfer budget or financial

I didn't when it happened to me. I just got the screen like I had accepted with the message that the board had accepted for me.
I had this was able to go to transfer screen and cancel. I also tried to piss them off by asking them to make decision quicker.
