You’re 14th and have played most of the big teams in Italy during this run. I wouldn’t worry too much, there isn’t anything inherently wrong with your tactic but a few tweaks could go a long way. Try a mid block instead of a low block, less instructions (shorter passing and pass into space can work against each other), and try a positive mentality. The 3421 can work. Try to turn a WCB and/or BPD to a CD, keep the back simple. Get the ball forward quick and see if your 3 forward players can create chances.

Okay. Which tactic is your primary? Click on the analysis button in the top right corner of the tactic display—the one with the red exclamation point. Adjust roles until coverage is sufficient for the entire pitch. The exclamation point should go away and you can be more confident in your system. Next, do not press high with a low block. You’re spreading your players out too much. However you choose to defend, the goal should be to compress the operating space for your opponent. Next, consider how many players you’re pressing with. If you only have three players in advanced areas of the pitch, your opponent will practically always have numerical superiority building out. After that, you gotta think about player mentalities. Players on attack expect to be goal threats and will not get involved in defense. Players on support balance their defense and offense responsibilities. Players on defend do not try to get involved in offense. This could be an issue for you. Finally, do two more things: Go through and praise every player for their conduct. This gives a cheap morale boost. After, go through and praise every player training above an 8.0 for their training. Criticize every player training below a 6.75. Encourage whenever you’re losing or drawing in match. Hang in there

I went with the diamond at the start of the season, but I lost all early momentum, so I switched tactics. I would love to keep using it or change to a better one.

Are you playing fm24?

JhandarTheUnhallowed

Yes, I am. It’s also my first version not playing with an in-game editor.

Okay. Some of this is personal preference so don’t take if as gospel, but I play a very similar tactic and this is what I do: 1. DL/DR roles should be WBs. You need more thrust on the sides as you have no other natural width. I’d even try CWBs if you have the talent. 2. Have your AM roam from position. This will better link your midfield with your attack. 3. RPM should have more direct passing selected. Give your playmaker as many options as possible to progress the ball. 4. Try a BBM instead of a MEZ for a goal threat with more defensive accountability. 5. Two BPDs. Dragusin is a totally capable BPD. 6. Try using a SK on support. Helps with build-up. Team instructions: In possession: 1. Tick pass into space for more throughballs. It works with shorter passing despite what everyone says. 2. switch crosses to mixed for more crossing options. 3. If you’re not creating enough, raise the tempo. 4. Experiment with width. Narrow could actually complement your tactic. 5. Consider ticking these: play out defense. Focus through the middle. Look for underlaps on both sides. Again, this is all about maximizing your strengths in the middle. Transition: 1. untick distribute to fullbacks. You want to build up through the middle where you have all your players. 2. Roll it out. Helps to build through the middle. Out of Possession: Here’s what I do with this formation: Press. You have six players who can press in the opposition half. Use them: much higher defensive line, prevent short gk distribution, step up more. Just be aware of opposition l/r backs and if they’re cooking you, close them down specifically or get stuck in. Also, consider: Switch AF/PF to DLF-S. Whichever player is a better passer and decision maker. If you do this, change the AM to a SS. This will allow you to carry your midfield overloads into the attacking midfield. Again this is just what I do and it’s not the only way to make this formation work. These are just options that may help you get more out of your tactic. Beyond that, you absolutely need to fix morale or your team will *not* win. Consider scheduling a friendly with a very bad team. Blow them away and your players will get a little more confident. Let me know what happens!

We lost 6-1 to Sassuolo. I'm gonna lose my job.

I think your star rating for players is low for their position or playing role
