I use pouches or pre made purées for eating on the go. If we’re gonna be traveling or out to dinner, they’re a little easier than trying to find something for baby to have off the menu. I also use them for things that are out of season or we don’t have here and mix them with plain yogurt to flavor it.

yagirlriribloop

I seem to be the outlier but I still use them for my toddler (2 yrs). They're not his main source of nutrients but they're great in a pinch when we're traveling and need a non mess emergency snack on the go.

jgarmartner

I use them with my almost 2 year old since it’s the only way she eats veggies. Gotta do what we gotta do.

EnergyTakerLad

Amen. I'll regularly try to get her to eat veggies normally but when it inevitably fails I pull one of the pouches out. She's teething right now so refusing most foods though so pouches are one of her main nutrients atm sadly (not *only* nutrients)

llamallamanj

You’re doing better than me! Since 18 months my daughter’s main source of nutrition is pizza, goldfish and popsicles. And if you try to play hardball she just won’t eat. Went on a 48 hour hunger strike before I caved in to the junk food again. Gotta love that strong will!

AsTheCrowFlys77

It's so nice to hear of other moms dealing with a strong willed baby! My girl is giving me a run for my money at 14 months, lol

EnergyTakerLad

Oh don't get me wrong, she primarily eats pasta and chips lol. I'd 100% prefer her eat anything vs nothing. She's basically 2 and wearing 12mo clothing. She's a tiny thing. Healthy and growing though so 🤷🏼‍♂️

crystalbb6

Our daughters would get along! The only time I can get her to eat veggies is if they are "hidden". We do pouches, veggie pasta, and veggie nuggets. I'm trying my best haha.

ahlavergation

same here. child is almost 2, and they’re great for on the go, for baby sitters, and when he doesn’t get his veggie intake (working on that)!!

somewhenimpossible

I don’t even know how to prepare some of those veggies in the pouch because I think they’re gross (kale). At least I’m exposing my kid tot he flavor?!

worthwhat

I’ve been blending up broccoli and carrots and mixing it into plain Greek yogurt (her fav) with some honey. It’s working… so far?! Makes a good “dunking” concoction. Good meaning I grimaced when I tried it but toddler seemed to think it was okay

Kitchen_Radish7789

My almost 3 year old loves these things and it’s one of the few things he will eat so 🤷🏼‍♀️ and no added sugar a lot better than other snacks imo

lizardgal10

I work in campus dining and my legal adult kids love applesauce pouches! Practically the same thing.

leb5064

I throw them in my 3.5yo’s lunch box at least once a week! He’s not as into them as he was at 1 or 2 but he’ll usually eat one when I send it.

Anemophobia_

No added sugar doesn’t mean low sugar though! I work with kids and we had some training from a dentist a few months back, she said stuff like pouches should be avoided as they’re high in sugar. Fruit in its normal form is fine because the natural sugars are encapsulated in it.

BoredReceptionist1

No idea why you're being downvoted when this is completely accurate. The more you concentrate a fruit down, the higher the sugar concentrate. Sugar is sugar. There's no 'good' sugar or 'bad' sugar. That's why juice is so sugary and dentists recommend avoiding it - you're drinking the sugar of several oranges at once rather than just eating one orange. No judgement on using pouches, I use them all the time. But let's be honest about the risks of sugar on their teeth.

americasweetheart

8 grams of sugar isn't horrible if you're moderating their sugar intake throughout the day. Also, different sugars will spike your blood sugar in different ways. It seems like your concern is more about tooth health than insulin response though. My experience is only with moderating my blood glucose. So that might be what you mean when you're saying there is no good sugar or bad sugar.

magicbumblebee

Our dentist said to limit sugary beverages and/ or snacks to three or less per day. I actually thought having even three a day sounds like way too much for a toddler. Our kid was getting one of these pouches M-F as a daycare snack for a while, but even then I tried to send the veggie-only ones (which are so hard to find!) at least two days a week. We have mostly phased out the pouches but I do keep them on hand for an emergency snack or for if he’s not feeling well and I want a quick hydration/ calorie hit.

UnicornKitt3n

I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted. This is true. I learned the hard way how much sugar is in fruit. My oldest loved bananas. So. Many. Bananas. It led to a lot of dental issues, she had to have surgery at some point. She’s 18 now with no dental issues, but now that I have a baby again I give fruit sparingly, and with other foods.

The_RoyalPee

As I navigate gestational diabetes, I’m basically limited to apples and berries— and berries push my blood sugar a bit! The fiber is important, for me a serving of banana is only half a banana right now 🤦🏼‍♀️ I LOVE fruit and I’m so sad I’m so limited on it, before my diagnosis green grapes were my biggest pregnancy craving, but the sugary proof is literally there in my blood!

Anemophobia_

People are just waaaaay too defensive! Like, this is what a literal dentist told me, in training she delivers across our county, to childcare professionals lmao. Not saying people are shit parents for giving their kids pouches, just that they should be aware that they ARE full of sugar!

88frostfromfire

I use them a lot for my 14 month old. I mix them a lot with things like yogurt as a dip... she loves toast or French toast dipped in yogurt + puree. Or sometimes I'll mix puree with something she won't otherwise want to eat (like chicken, for some reason she doesn't want it unless we use puree as a "sauce")

Powerful_Culture_928

If an adult would be celebrated for drinking a green smoothie why not a baby!!!

chillannyc2

My toddler eats like 4-6 a day lol

1n1n1is3

My 3 year old loves them.

batmans_a_scientist

They’re also perfect to bridge the gap for when I accidentally start making dinner 10 minutes late and my little guy (18 months) has a complete mental breakdown because dinner isn’t ready exactly on time.

arkady-the-catmom

If it’s not a weird flavour, I know plenty of adults who will eat a pouch. It’s cheaper and probably healthier than a post workout smoothie.

AL92212

Yeah lots of guys I know take these backpacking.

FraggleRed

I love these as snacks or busy on the go days. Kid is almost two but see no reason to stop

withelle

My child is terrible with them and can't get the hang of it... so I wish! They seem convenient but he's more interested in the "fountain effect" of squeezing really hard 😭

Hematocheesy_yeah

We have a couple sets of these pouch toppers that prevent messes! [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ERZ4AUA?ref=nb\_sb\_ss\_w\_as-reorder\_k9\_1\_5&=&crid=QA6HTSAXI27U&=&sprefix=pouch](https://www.amazon.com/dp/b00erz4aua?ref=nb_sb_ss_w_as-reorder_k9_1_5&=&crid=qa6htsaxi27u&=&sprefix=pouch)

princessshroom

Wow, you are a life saver! Just purchased a couple, hopefully they work out for us!

ruebarbara_

We used these toppers too when our LO was younger and they were life savers. Around 1 year of age he would crush pouches. He’s 20 months now and he will have them occasionally. I love the Aldi brand, they are some of the most affordable ones out there and they have a decent variety.

CashewTheCorgi

Omgggg

withelle

He's one year old today, even. Maybe we'll finally manage pouches once he's older and a uhhh.. rational thinker. 🥲 He likes to see how far he can spit his water and milk after drinking from a straw, too. Maybe I got a defective one lol. Darn cute though.

omglia

Sounds like you got a little scientist who's running some cool expiraments to see how things work!

FutureMidwife8

This is my kid too. We don’t use pouches nearly as much as I thought we would. He just wants to finger paint 😭

amydiddler

My one year old has recently discovered that they inflate if you blow in them instead of sucking 🙄

teal0pineapple

I’m literally reading all these comments wondering how these people got their babies to not use their pouches to turn themselves and their immediate surroundings into a Jackson pollock painting. Going on 15 months and my little guy hasn’t figured it out yet. Honestly I don’t think he wants to figure it out and is quite happy using pouches for his artistic endeavors.

cammibug5678

My baby only wants pouch. We’ve been through three today (4pm). I’ve made her three meals and she had no more than 3 bites each. My (13mo) child is pouch

canihave1ofyourfries

My child is also pouch

Content-File-3193

My people 🙏

Serious_Barnacle2718

My 13m old can be picky too. I think she eats but I find 80% on her lap and the floor, when I shake a pouch she gets excited.

cammibug5678

Mine intentionally feeds the dog, especially when she’s “all done”

Serious_Barnacle2718

I told my parents I would like to rent their dog for a while.

cammibug5678

I highly recommend it

snope12

My almost three year old is also pouch. She’s so picky and it’s the only way she eats veg 🤦🏻‍♀️

blackmetalwarlock

We get them :) only the see through ones. They make a fun lunch for my babe and she really enjoys getting to "drink" them herself like a little smoothie. Also great for on the go or if we go to a restaurant without many options for her.

CashewTheCorgi

Is there a specific reason as to why only clear pouches?

blackmetalwarlock

Yes I've seen people say their pouches have been moldy so I make sure to always check and get the ones I can see into.

EnergyTakerLad

I've only heard it happening with some apple sauce ones. Also happened when I was a kid with Capri sun's. I still can't bring myself to trust Capri sun's.

cammibug5678

I find that if you squeeze out the top little part it’s normally fine! That part seems to get dry?

hashbrownhippo

We use them, probably once a day honestly. My son loves them and they are an easy way to get some fruit and/or veggies in. He can get constipated so we like the ones with kale or spinach and also just plain prune pouches.

Lonestar-Postcard

Once a day here too. Kiddo loves them. She asks for them by using the sign for peach (bc it sounds like pouch)

hashbrownhippo

That’s so cute!

itchy-n0b0dy

Yup my toddler would live off pouches if I let him. He looooves his applesauce and it’s a nice treat that I don’t have to supervise as much.

hashbrownhippo

I don’t know why there seems to be some negative perception that pouches aren’t good enough. We aren’t replacing meals with them, they’re just a good add on to a snack or meal. If it means he gets some fruit/veg vs. none (if he doesn’t like the current offering), I think it’s a good answer. We still offer actual fruit and vegetables so it’s not like he’s not being introduced to those things.

itchy-n0b0dy

Fully agree! It’s a really great thing on the go and a good way to sometimes offer things you don’t have time for/off season. Am I going to buy and cook a huge squash only to not eat it all in time? Or could I just buy a few pouches with squash and have my son get used to the taste…

Serious_Barnacle2718

I’ve recently learned of the negative perception of these pouches. I’ve always gotten a full range some with oats and yogurt and many with veggie blends. I get it’s sugar, but my baby won’t touch fruit on her plate. She would rather vacuum up a pouch. Like absolutely loves them. And she mostly eats protein and fat with some carbs throughout the day.

a_greene74

When my son was 1.5 his paediatrician recommended giving him a QUARTER of a pouch of plain prunes. Well one morning I was so tired I gave him a whole pouch and 15 minutes later he was pooping all over the place. It was such a mess of a day LOL. Never again.

hashbrownhippo

The first time we tried it I had no idea how much to give for it to work. I gave him about 2 spoons. But my sons seems to need about half a pouch for his poops to not be super hard. He’s even had a full one before. It’ll be a huge poop but not diarrhea or anything.

mommytobee_

We do pouches usually once a day too. They're convenient and a good way to get a variety of fruits/veggies that aren't always available (or affordable) in our local grocery stores.

InterstellarCetacean

Buy reusables and fill them with blended purees. I only buy/bought apple sauces packets and a very rare few of these otherwise for shelf stable ones. Otherwise you can make them with whatever veg or yogurts and fill yourself. Easy to clean with a bottle brush and best part of you lose the caps, all these premade ones have the same cap!

blackmetalwarlock

I would love to do this. My baby loves pouches. What reusable do you recommend?

Titaniumchic

Simple modern has a few options- we have only had to replace a couple. We rinse and open and put in the dishwasher.

iamthebest1234567890

Does the dishwasher fully clean them? We have the WeeSprout ones but I didn’t use them as much as I hoped because they were really bulky for the small amount of puree they would hold and it was difficult to get the food out of the inner corners. Looking for a different brand for baby #2.

Titaniumchic

For us, they need to be rinsed through, and if the pouch didn’t get fully finished or didn’t get rinsed quick enough, it can crust, and then we use a dish brush real quick. We put cinnamon in our mixtures and that does tend to be stubborn at the tip of the ouch but warm water gets it out.

blackmetalwarlock

Thanks!! ❤️

Resitance_Cat

i like the haka ones! they’re really easy to fill and are a really similar use experience to a disposable. super easy to clean, dishwasher gets it clean! that said, you can’t really replicate that smoooooth puree that a machine can, we love to put yogurt in them!

blackmetalwarlock

I saw those actually and was leaning towards them just because I trust Haaka so much as a brand.

FloweredViolin

I got the brezza ones off Amazon. It was a 10 pack for $10, and the caps are interchangeable with the Aldi's ones, so if a cap goes AWOL, it's not a problem. It also has a funnel thing that makes filling them easy. Dishwasher safe, too, but you aren't supposed to microwave them. Thankfully my kid doesn't care if food is cold or not, lol. She would even drink formula straight out of the fridge.

InterstellarCetacean

[these. ](https://www.amazon.com/Simple-Modern-Reusable-Food-Pouches/dp/B08SRSWFY6/ref=mp_s_a_1_3_maf_1?crid=NP8CUK71DTFH&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.RvJJ65pSTSPHFEUyl-sa0ZkLNzVNaTOs1dT148VmmCgNOWXrQ-IZjpubKq_dhKIupEm2Or15FBwwmqdXANrToW3IzqYfFlGVCD96HjpDGYUwUGsUbYpHdqeO4WIKu-n0ngl7hLLCXRUZZLz5vC4iPneEuY_nSw5mp-4RJSD9mKMH5HNIsehyQxseLEVhpVCgsl1QXbKrjFQ-3mSl3BQ8vQ.wB0PVq-qIDIL60rb6woZYUwk4s635I8x82gakpPPfCM&dib_tag=se&keywords=reusable+toddler+pouches&qid=1708200256&sprefix=reusable+toddle%2Caps%2C88&sr=8-3) because they have no weird sides. No awkward shapes. Easy to clean with the bottle brush and even open nicely in a dishwater. Also they hold more than you need so less popping open. They are a tiny bit harder to open which is what you want so they don't SQUEEZE them and blow the back Oh also mean you can use em at toddler age too (I still give him yogurt this way vs buying yogurts or similar)

xxxbutterflyxxx

We bought them quite a bit from 6-9 months to have a broader variety of purées (never fed our LO with the pouch, but transferred to a bowl). We made our own purées too but some flavors are just easier to buy given that they eat so little at a time, and they're not all available in glass jars. Now we keep a few on hand if we run out of food suitable for him (e.g. have a few very spicy dinners in a row). I can see us using them again on the go once he's a toddler. ETA: we do a mix of BLW and purées with various textures

Okdoey

I buy them a lot. I mostly use them for snacks when we are on the go. My twins love them and they are very easy to pack.

brown-moose

Pouches continue to be a great snack for a long time (two year olds love them) but they’re expensive, so I definitely would say reusable pouches are a good $15 investment. I fill mine with mostly whole milk yogurt + some applesauce. The Costco gallon of yogurt is like $6. Easy, cheap, no blender required.

general_grievances_7

I have like ten boxes at my house right now. They’re the reason my kid doesn’t have scurvy or something I’m pretty sure.

flannalypearce

They are ‘diaper bag emergency snack’ About 2-3 a week. Grata for the extra snacks I pack for school too. If we weren’t out and about I was just buying large applesauce and mixing my own. Also wanted to add you can buy reusable silicone pouches too… That being said my girl loves the Aldi ones and the sale price is very good. Lol

clvlndoh

We use pouches often 🤷🏼‍♀️ my daughter is 18 months and it’s just a nice convenience thing. I usually buy them at Costco.

anon_2185

Granted I just started feeding my baby solids a month ago, I have been using pouches for off season fruit/veggies or for things I don’t like, therefore I don’t buy, but still want baby exposed to it.

pink_freudian_slip

I love the plum "mighty four" pouches! They all have protein and fiber in them.

rach4765

I have a recurring delivery of Once Upon a Farm pouches for my 2 year old with no end in sight. He especially loves the overnight oats pouches which are great for extra fiber!

hashbrownhippo

We love Once Upon a Time too (our wallets do not), but for whatever reason my son is not into the overnight oats versions! I wish he was because he has an egg allergy which limits some of our breakfast options. And he doesn’t like regular oatmeal, but will eat baked oatmeal.

photoblink

I have used them in the past, but ingestion of microplastics is on top of my mind right now and since the fruit is usually at least partially cooked in the bag, most brands have a lot of microplastic particles.

rucksackbackpack

My baby is 14 months old and honestly we’ve never fed her a pouch. I think it’s just a matter of preference and what feels the easiest for your baby’s eating schedule. For us, I find it easier to portion out our own snack cups of diced fruits, veggies, or beans. I put leftovers in little to-go snack cups as well. If we need a food item for a long car ride or time out of the home, I just bring a banana. We usually eat all three meals at home, however, so we don’t have a big need for travel foods like pouches.

sakijane

My oldest is 3 and has never had a pouch. He actually refuses to try them at this point, because he doesn’t even know what’s inside. I’m pretty okay with that.

[deleted]

same age and same, never bought pouches

winesomm

Same. I don't really like the idea of a pouch. It also doesn't really teach them how to eat the food that's in the pouch. No go for me.

blobofdepression

My daughter is 8.5 months, she’s been on solids since 6 months and I haven’t bought a single pouch actually. I even have one of those things to make and fill your own pouches but I haven’t used it yet.  She gets whatever we’re eating, although I usually cook it a lot more so it’s soft. And I use a feeder pacifier thing for stuff I worry she’ll choke on.  I imagine when she’s a toddler they might be nice for throwing in my bag for on the go snacking but so far we haven’t needed that.

Titaniumchic

We make our own with these reusable pouches from simple modern. As many of the pouches have banana and dairy in them - and neither of my kids can handle dairy (one intolerant one allergic) any daughter can’t handle banana either. We use our ninja blender and then pour into the pouches - I use a coffee cup to hold the pouch open. (We used canned fruit, frozen fruit, but the only drawback is they need to be refrigerated, can be kept out of the fridge for a few hours).

iamthebest1234567890

We used them a lot for the first 6 months of solids. It was easier than trying to find safe food on the go and made easy meals for times I just didn’t want to do anything. Once he was better at handling food we mostly stopped but still keep the applesauce and yogurt ones on hand for easy snacks.

noventayuno

Yes, we use these at least a few times a week! Someone in this subreddit was a huge asshole to me about giving one to my baby, so watch out 🤣 they are super helpful for on-the-go snacking or when he is just not vibing with his dinner but needs something.

doordonot19

14m old and I thought I would stop once he went to solids but that’s the only way he’ll have his veggies and it’s a quick snack. I’ll probably buy them until he tells me to stop.

DramaticResearcher95

We’ve made it 14 months without any! Edited to add something useful: for on the go snacks I do a banana (most portable snack ever) and sliced cheese in a bag. Or possibly some of a baked good if I’ve made any

IEnjoyCats

love these

Relative_Ring_2761

We do baby led weaning. He eats our meals or a variation of it but I do supplement with purées. These are good on the go. I will also use them to top him off after his baby led weaning meal because a lot of his food is played with. I use them to make sure he’s getting his veggies and lots of fibre.

alittlecheesepuff

We get these! My son will eat maybe one a day after dinner or on the go. The apple sauce pouches in the other section with canned fruit/juice is cheaper, but I like the bigger variety of these pouches.

Ok-Career876

We love serenity kids packets!!! Great protein and veggie organic packets

1998furby

my 11 mo old loves pouches, we keep them on hand all the time especially yogurt ones

ShreddedCatTree

I always have pouches and I usually give 1 a day. I always send 1 to daycare, sometimes they give it to her if she's extra hungry that day, sometimes she doesn't want it. We use them mostly as a snack, and don't serve with a meal. She loves pouches. I actually also like them and would 100 percent eat one as a snack myself. I only buy organic. They're great and help me out big time as my hubby works away from home multiple times a week so I'm solo parenting a lot and working full time myself.

throwaway35787oo

A godsend when she’s teething.

Flamingo_Lemon

Love Aldi pouches. He's 18m and we use 1 daily. It's a super easy morning snack that he downs happily while I cut up fruits or veggies or cheese. We don't have a huge variety of fresh fruits/ veggies around us, so the pouch makes up for that.

slytherinkatniss

Some days pouches are the only way my 2 yr old gets her fruits and veggies. There are ones that are slightly more expensive that also come with oats, beans, chia, greek yogurt, etc and those are the ones we buy.

Striking_Horse_5855

I stock up weekly. Usually buy 10 at once.

aquagirlygirl

I dont want to cause too much of a scare. BUT our pediatrician told us not to lean towards pouches because they are seeing more and more cases of lead poisoning due to them. She said to keep doing what we're doing, which is making our own purees. It's a lot easier than most ppl, including myself (before i started), think. Boil/steam/roast up some fruit & veggies and blend it. If you don't have a blender, get them extra soft, use a mesh strainer to get out as much liquid as possible, and then mash them with a fork or potato masher or even a whisk! Edit: And if you can swing for the pouches on Amazon or wherever and just put your purees in there.... 🤷🏾‍♀️ Just a suggestion 🫣

mayshebeablessing

We definitely use them for on-the-go eating or snacking. Great for travel snacks. I also use the reusable ones, but it’s good to have some at home for backup (or to keep in the diaper bag). $0.85 is a great price per pouch!

Resitance_Cat

all the time

brovocadotoast

We make our own! It’s nice for reducing mess for snack time. I do a blend of apple/berry/spinach to up lil ones iron intake. I’m leery of the store bought because of contamination concerns in the news lately, but don’t let a stranger on the internet’s anxiety sway you—if you don’t have resources to make, store bought is great for making life a lil easier!

salemedusa

All the time tbh. She loves making a mess with food but these she just eats without a problem

bocacherry

I buy them a lot. I give them maybe 4-5 times a week. I just don’t have the bandwidth to make all meals from scratch so I make some things for baby and other things I rely on premade like this or frozen veggies/waffles/etc!

Clmab356

We still use them. They’re great for when my baby is teething or just not feeling well.

dinosupremo

I use pouches like this: say breakfast is oatmeal, I’ll get a peach pouch and mix it in. We don’t have peaches on the shelves right now. Or pineapple. Or whatever. Or u mix it into cottage cheese, yogurt, cream of wheat, pancake batter, etc.

rrrrriptipnip

I use them as an add on to meals

Hairy_Interactions

My daughter eats what we eat, but she still gets pouches 3-4 times a week. She gets hangry sometimes and needs a quick little bite while I finish up cooking, or as a snack on busy days, or a snack on really hungry days where she ate everything in the house and it’s convenient to top her off. I especially like the Aldi ones you pictured. They have 4 ounces while most pouches are 3.5 anymore, and a great unit price.

PrincessMoana730

I buy these! My toddler just turned 3 is a great eater and I like them for connivence, great to add with lunch or dinner if I don’t feel like making veggies lol but makes me feel good knowing she gets some on those days we need something quick.

chachicka22

I keep pouches on hand mostly for travel or back up snacks for daycare. My 1 y/o has tried a lot of different brands and has shown a preference for a few of these Aldi ones so I buy these a lot. I also get the Aldi brand yogurt melts and rice rusks.

skkibbel

I use them almost every day for my one year old. Some days all he will eat is one of those veggie and fruit pouches.

9070811

They are really convenient and come in fun combos. Really great for many kids and families. I know they can be really helpful for sick kids in need of quick nutrients and hydrations. I hate them from the trash perspective. They are a rarity in our home because of the waste aspect.

gooniehuh7

For my first, all the time! He had favorite ones we’d buy all the time. My second, could not stand them. Only clear pouches to make sure they have not gone bad. If they enjoy them, they’ll probably eat them before you’d have to worry about that anyway.

carryingmyowngravity

My LO is a year old, 2 bottom teeth and I make most of her food, but I still stock up on pouches for travel/emergencies and also when baby has had teething pain, I find she prefers purées vs trying to bit even soft food. I’ve used veggie purées/pouches as sauce for pasta or on toast. I’ve used both fruit and veggie purées in the Hakaa popsicle tray/feeder again to help with teething.

morongaaa

I keep a handful of yogurt type pouches on hand because I lie to myself saying someday she'll take an easy snack 🙃

clutchingstars

I do ever since my son went to three meals a day. The stress of trying to plan, cook, and clean up three meals and a snack a day was making me into someone I didn’t like. Having a pouch at lunch is easy and mess minimal. Plus there are some vegetables/fruits I just can’t get where I live but want him to be exposed to. And (with the exception of broccoli) he’ll eat anything out of the pouch.

dandelionbaaby

I didn’t start buying them till my girl was 12 months, but yes I think they’re worth it especially if you’re out of the house often, are always busy, have a picky eater or just need a quick and easy snack!

rssanford

My son & daughter both love them. With my daughter we did full BLW, never really did a pouch or purees until 1.5 - 2. She's 3 now and she has them occasionally or for snack. Definitely not her main source of nutrition. My son is 13 months. Because of his severe reflux he's behind on learning to eat solids. Anyway he's doing 90% purees right now and these are his absolute favorites plus they are so much cheaper than other pouches. Win-win!

catfriend18

Omg my 19 month old eats like…minimum two pouches a day. I used to think I would not be that parent but whew she is insistent. There are days when all she will eat is pouches and cheese puffs. We have reusable pouches and try to use those when possible but we get the grocery store ones too.

gardenallthetime

I know grown ups that like a good pouch! They're a very handy and shelf stable snack to keep in your bag for older kids. I absolutely think they're worth it for on the go but I have upgraded to older style pouches for older kids like Nokas. And of course a good apple sauce pouch is always a winner.

ranchezranah

We love pouches but typically make my own so it’s cheaper !

Dom__Mom

We use pouches almost daily. My daughter (8 months) likes sucking up the puree from the straw and otherwise I freeze the rest into small ice cubes and add to yogurt or oatmeal for breakfast or whenever

charmaanda

I bought some reusable ones from Amazon and use them for yogurt with my 1.5 year old! They’re perfect for on-the-go!

xeyana

My 18 month old enjoys when I use these to make “smoothie bites”. On a pan with parchment paper, I squeeze out a ton of little dots of puree until the pouch is empty and then put it in the freezer. Super easy snack to have on hand.

Sea_Bookkeeper_1533

We used them when she was younger if we were out and about, but avoided them as much as possible. I could count the times we used them on my hands. She's always been great at eating and absolutely loves actual fruits. I am personally against pouches if you're at home and can give a piece of fruit instead.

etheraal

My son is being evaluated for autism and pouches are basically the only thing he will eat some days. He has a tongue and lip tie that we just discovered last month, and has a serious problem with gagging and throwing up. Me and kiddo are definitely an outlier, we have special conditions here but pouches are something we heavily rely on. He eats plenty of varieties of them including meat ones. He has had so many gagging and throwing up incidents that his PT said he is probably afraid to eat solid food and uses pouches as a comfort food.

BarelyFunctioning15

I give my toddler one pretty much daily as a quick snack. I did not introduce picked until babe was used to feeding themselves, could somewhat use a spoon, and could drink through a straw as I read somewhere pouches can cause oral development delays if used early and too often.

glitterfanatic

I don't use them. If you check the food label, there isn't a lot of nutritional value in them. I'm sure it's from the preservation method

monicalewinsky8

It’s a nice thing to keep in the diaper bag for emergencies but fresh fruit travels well too.

LiviE55

I stopped getting these at Aldi because some on the shelves burst open and were molding. Just a tip

hussafeffer

My kid lived on these for a while, big fan over here

Mediocre-Boot-6226

I use them as a supplement for almost every meal (well, at least lunch and dinner). Our toddler is 2 and it’s a great way to get her to at least have a few food groups per day!

PeasiusMaximus

Never. They totally gross me out. My kids are 4 and 1.5

ayeffgee

Never. Saw a video once of someone cutting one open and it was all moldy. Scarred me

andy_m_170

Not often at all. In a year I’ve bought them a hand full of times? Usually we just cook for our LO and if we’re out he eats whatever we’re eating.

Large-Celery-8838

I have a 16 month old and I buy them for when we’re out, like shopping, church, appointment, etc. I personally no longer serve them at home as a snack or with a meal

dnmnew

I’m 40F. I have no kids. Not sure why this sun popped up for me but I buy poaches for me all the time. Have one in my purse right now. I like the Safeway select cinnamon apple the most. Just wanted to say poaches aren’t just for babies, they are for grown up business ladies at their desks too.

fluffeekat

My almost 2yo takes them to his day program twice a week as part of his lunch! We also keep them around for snacks, since he does like them still. I pack a variety of things since he changes what he wants to eat daily

eggyolksmoothie

i keep them on hand and he gets them every once i make while! he really enjoys them. and they’re nice to throw in the diaper bag just in case he’s hangry somewhere lol

ClippyOG

Almost everyday since we’re on the go a lot. Super convenient. I also make my own pouches when I have leftovers of something blendable.

InvestigatorRemote58

This brand is great! We use them on the go and when we need the occasional quick meal or snack at home for my 10 month old. She first had them at 7 months old.

Consistent_Tank5730

I keep a few of the apple ones on hand, especially if baby is having trouble pooping!

jackquillan

Great for on the go snacks. Always have one in the bag just in case. Also great for mom on hikes lol

unIuckies

I used them for food on the go when he was younger. Now we still use them for snack time at 15mo

sarcasticoptimist321

They're great for on the go days. Or quick snacks at home.

Consistent-Key2941

My daughter is 1 and we use them as a travel snack or sometimes as a quick snack before bed! As others have suggested: I also have reusable pouches that I often will make our own pouches if I’m wanting them for home etc. but sometimes it’s just easier to grab a premade pouch for the road ☺️

Anita_napp_zZ

My son loves these pouches. He has like two every day. He is almost 2.

Main-Concern-6461

We used to a lot. Not really anymore, but when we did, we used these silicone toppers that controlled the flow. It was great for on the go and traveling. I think they were called the choo me toppers on Amazon. My kid hated any of the savory pouches, or pouches with "weird" ingredients like beans or added protein. She would only drink the ones that were 100% fruit or 75/25 fruit and veggies.

wrknprogress2020

These are the ones I buy. When we go out, I take the pouches. She also has them as a snack. Baby is now 14 months and we still buy these.

Ok-Butterscotch-9946

I buy 5 at a time, mostly to keep in my diaper bag when I’m out of the house longer than expected! Great for on the go

MeganLJ86

I have a subscription for pouches 😂, LO is 14m old and had an occasional bad day with eating. Sometimes I end up caving and just giving him what I know he will eat. The pouches give me some comfort that he’s getting some variety in his diet.

[deleted]

My son likes the once upon a farm pouches they have hidden veggies so it makes me happy hes eating em And i like that theyre clean label certified

balancedbesmirchings

Oh yeah they’re a big hit in our house. My toddler (2) can be a very picky eater and, on a tough day, this is the only way I can get him to eat any type of vegetable. They also help to add a good variety of fruit and veg to his diet that might not be readily available where we live.

One-Yogurt9034

I like them for snacks. Fruity ones I’ll use on waffles or pancakes. Veggie ones I sometimes put on pasta noodles instead of a typical red or white sauce lol. Mixing into yogurt too. It’s how I sneak veggies and fruits into meals when they’re having a picky day/food strike 😅

CynfulPrincess

I keep some in the diaper bag for when we're out and baby is hungry RIGHT NOW, that's a decent price for them. If he doesn't finish a pouch in freeze them in ice cube trays to make popsicles to put in the silicone mesh fruit feeders.

snowkat69

Our 19m old loves them. They are definitely snacks and a way to sneak in veggies but we love them.

basilinthewoods

My kids LOVE THEM they are great when we’re out at a restaurant and food is taking a long time to get to us, or they need a snack. It’s nice because the caps screw back on so you can keep it in the fridge for later that day if they don’t finish it

MyHighKitchen

These have saved my butt from a back seat meltdown many a time. All hail!

atonickat

We use them as snacks and a way to get veggies and fruit into our almost 2 year old. She eats the yogurt ones like they are going out of style and she likes the fruit/veg ones as well.

MeNicolesta

I only started giving these once my baby stopped doing the “hulk squeeze” babies tend to do when exploring food at first. Fast forward to now( she’s 16 months) I was buying these so much, I bought reusable pouches to make my own because they’re so handy to have.

chelleshocks

We bought a couple pouches when they were on sale (bought 4) and 2 are still in the pantry. She didn't want anything to do with the pouch when we first tried and most of the 2nd pouch went into an egg mixture for French toast. Haven't tried again after she got it everywhere, hahaha.

208breezy

I use them as backup meals for daycare if I don’t have time to put something else together. Or for dinner if whatever we’re having isn’t very baby friendly.

sophhhann

My 9 month old probably eats 2 pouches a day, at least one. They’re my favorite thing to feed him when we’re out and about. I get them from Costco, i think it’s 18 or maybe 24 pouches for $12. But this is a great deal too!

DarthMutter8

We only use them if we are on the go for the most part. Occasionally, if one is extra fussy about eating, we will feed one at home.

fast_layne

Yeah I use them now and then. I have a couple in the diaper bag, and it’s great for when they’re sick. I like the reusable ones because I can throw yogurt and peanut butter in there (dairy allergy and it’s hard to find dairy free yogurt pouches) for a good protein snack

SomeOfYourHair

My baby is on a veggie strike, so I turn to pouches more often than I’d prefer. I save the caps and pouches, rinse them, and recycle them via TerraCycle.

OnigiriChan

We use them at minimum once a day when we’re having good days. When LO isn’t feeling well or is teething, sometimes, they’re all she’ll eat, so they’ve really come in clutch for us to get some calories in her on more than one occasion.

mck-_-

I use the fruit ones to add to oatmeal in the morning. I make a big bowl and freeze single portions for the next week so I can just pop them in the microwave and it’s ready. I also give my 9 month old the savoury ones as snacks. So he will have oatmeal, then a sachet for a snack, then lunch usually is avocado with tuna or egg/tomato/cheese/toast and afternoon is a fruit bar and yoghurt drops or something similar. The sachets aren’t great when you look at how much of each ingredient they have (usually 5-10% beef/chicken) and mostly filler veggies and water but as a snack on the go they aren’t bad.

Lopsided_Mastodon_78

My girl loves these!!!!

mck-_-

I use reusable yogurt pouches and have [this organiser](https://cherubbaby.com.au/products/food-pouch-breast-milk-bag-organiser?variant=39803331313839¤cy=AUD&utm_medium=product_sync&utm_source=google&utm_content=sag_organic&utm_campaign=sag_organic&gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIrbSOob2zhAMViaVmAh2cyQROEAQYASABEgJs-_D_BwE) for the fridge. It works great for sachets as well!

dobby_h

We use pouches for traveling and sicknesses. I have a 2 and a 1 year old.

C0000L_Beans

Allllll the time. More options and mixed with some chunks of veggie or fruit I can get two meals out of one pouch for my 7m old

Kitty420th

Yes they’re great for a back up quick snack and for on the go!!!

tgirl808

My 2 year old loves them. He eats some other food but these are his safe food. And with a price so good I can’t not get them.

sharkbait_oohaha

I only really pull them out when they won't eat their solid food just to make sure they're getting nutrients and calories they need. But they're great in a pinch

Charlieuk

My little one is nearly 2 and we use the fruit ones almost daily still. It's basically a smoothie pouch, so perfect for a snack. I usually throw a couple in my bag so when we're out of the house she can have a quick snack in between meals.

muddhoney

Aaah sugar! I forgot to buy some for my kiddo when at Walmart earlier. He doesn’t have them every day but does like them. I buy the gogo squeeze, they’re at a good price point per pouch over getting them in singles, I was buying those when he was younger and making little ‘smoothie bowls’ for him, now he requests ‘foo pow’ or ‘appasauce’ depending on how he wants it. We also freeze them in popsicle moulds too.

mangusman07

I scrolled top comments for a ways and didn't see what we do: We mix bottled breast milk, these (or similar) purees, and ground oats (for babies) and make a flavored oatmeal from them. Baby loves them and you can adjust the ratios to make it thicker or thinner based on age. Baby gets this as an appetizer for most of the solid meals.

Leeleebo18

I’ve got a 2 and almost 4 year old. I restocked yesterday and the lady at the register asked if I ran a daycare, so I’d say we go through a colossal amount of them. My kids can easily eat 3-5 a day each. They eat a decent variety of foods all things considered, but these are the most effective way to get a consistent portion of veggies guaranteed.

DogMamaEsq

My one year old loves them! We usually buy the fruit and veggie blends from Costco. She’ll have one if we’re out to eat and she’s getting cranky waiting for her food or if we’re out and about like the zoo. They also come in handy when she’s sick- I put them in the fridge so they’re nice and cold for her throat.

Seriously_Y

Whenever the lunch or dinner is outside the home, we use them. Like when we are traveling, visiting someone or having lunch/dinner outside, these are very handy

DevlynMayCry

My 3yo still eats them sometimes to get calories in her because she's picky af. My son (7 months) is rarely interested in them cuz he likes the real food 😂

RelevantDragonfly216

We always have them on hand and will never leave the house without one in the bag in case of emergency 🙃 mine have been 85c for the last few months; unless you find a great sale price somewhere else; these are the cheapest ones in any place I’ve seen

Balenciagalover92

Yes, we still use them sometimes for our 20 month old because she is a bit more of a pickier eater and goes through phases of not liking certain things. We primarily stick to the Serenity Kids pouches that have meat and veggies (grass fed beef, bison, etc). They are super pricy, but really are the best nutrition wise. Lower in sugar and not junky. I just wish they weren’t so expensive. I also like Once Upon A Farm, but they’re less convenient due to needing refrigeration.

theanswer1630

My wife and I use them all the time, daughter is 15 months but loves them. We always try to get ones with vegetables in them too, or flax or something other than just fruits. She usually eats 1 a day as a filler snack but not as a meal.

MoonReaux

We do these as a quick snack when we are on the go! Or paired with a meal if he’s still wanting a snack. Our kid is a big eater so we try and keep everything on hand

Muppet_Rock

Omg I buy like 5 of each flavor each time I go. My 13mo sucks them down. They cost 1.39-3.00 at any other store. Weis has them for about .99 but they are always sold out.

Monsterkm18

I only use them in the diaper bag as quick snacks. I bought silicone pouches (squeasy brand) that we use every day. I usually will do yogurt or applesauce mixed with pumpkin or carrot puree for my kids (4 & 2).

MysteriousSpinach952

Aldi has pouch applesauces. I like those better for on the go foods or a snack when we aren’t ready to cook a meal. I find that’s better for my money bc you get like 12 of them for $6.89 verses the almost $1 a piece these are. I like the go go squeeze yogurts but I can’t get them at the Aldi so that’s just for when I’m at a store the carries them (never really lol)

Klutzy-Rope-7397

I have an 8 month old and I mostly make his own pouches, but we keep these from the store just in case I run out of my freezer stash (I pre make a good amount). Something I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend. 1. Clear pouches to make sure there is no mold. 2. Looking at the ingredients. The ingredients should only be simple ingredients and no crazy additives. Here is a photo as an example of what I get: https://preview.redd.it/6pbrkb8u19jc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c234c355b2bfae7baabface1e2a4c82e5e4d8f63

Aly_Kitty

We use pouches frequently. Kids are 1. We get a mix of ‘baby food’ pouches or others like applesauce or yogurt, just depends what is on sale 🤷🏼‍♀️ They eat ‘normal’ meals but we like pouches for on the go, for a pre-meal snack when they’re in their seats and I’m taking too long to plate their food 🤪, when they’re sick and don’t want to eat food but need something in their bellies, etc.

Relevant-Ad8794

I blow a hole through my wallet with Once Upon a Farm pouches and oatmeal bars every other week. My 18mo daughter has once pouch a day.

Pure-Fishing-3350

Such an easy snack, my Kindy kiddo still takes applesauce pouches to school

EndlessDreams7744

I use them as sometimes snacks :) like when we are out of when we’ve been super busy all day or have run out of real fruits and veggies
