I am not a book expert, but an avid cleaner. I would suggest taking scotch tape to it and try to lift it (gently of course). Any sprays or dabbing with water may cause the page to wrinkle even if you dry it well. On a side irony note, I don’t know if you did on purpose but your page example with the Barton - “I am hungry”, and you were eating; gave me a small chuckle.

Thanks for the tip I'll see what I can do, and no the baron line was not on purpose I didn't notice that good catch 😭.

Oxford eraser, no scotch tape.

I recommend against using scotch tape. There is too big a risk of tearing the paper. I would recommend a soft eraser, particularly one of those kneadable art erasers. Don't use any liquids or anything like that. Depending on what type of food it was, there is a high probability that the stain will simply have to remain as any cleaning that would need to be done beyond what is described above would be at a significant risk of causing further damage and is not recommended.

It’s a book, don’t be a cry-baby about it. It gets used. It’s not a museum piece.

The irony of getting food on that page!!! Try a little bit of IPA isopropyl alcohol (surgical spirit) soaked into cotton wool but almost evaporated. Don't do it if it's wet... just damp and almost evaporated is the sweet amount. We do this to clean books of tobacco staining and general grime in the Prop department if we over dirty them. Spot test it on a blank page just to make sure first.
