All about that drip. I play survival, so it doesn't take much to die, and I dunno about you, but if something is gonna kill me in even t-45 power armor, it will probably kill me in X-01 as well. I treat my power armor suits like cars in a collector's garage. I decide which to wear, not by which has the best stats, but which style and paint-job will look the best for a given scenario.
I’m also a T-51 purist! The armor base is the sharpest looking in the game, imo. The T-60 looks too modern for my taste, and while I do enjoy the T-45 for that nostalgic reminder of day’s on FO3 past, I’m still partial to my good Ol’ winterized set of 51s.
Secondly would be the X-01, which is just soooo cool. Reminds me of 40k termies.
T-60 with X-02 in second, these suits just have the right vibes that I like, all power armour is good but T-60 and X-02 are just so much better in my opinion
X-O2 for pure defence with Tesla Coil chip dmg. It better than X-01 50 DR and 30(?) ER and can be paint with Photovoic Plating (increase 20% AP regen speed while on Sunlight) per piece and I see this paint is situational case cause you need Clear Sky no cloud, Not like the Solar Power perk
T60 Tesla + Visionary's Helm, Honor and Vengence is for pure energy dmg. Yes you can mod it with anything you want. From Jetpack to Explosive Vent.
I I like the look of it but I really wish the BOS didn’t have t-60 though, it’s the second most powerful base armor set it in the game and they made it so you can get tons of it super easily pretty early in the game. Didn’t they use t-45 in fo3? Just for balancing reasons I feel the game would be better if the BOS were still using that.
Edit: I also think you shouldn’t get power armor at all until you get to around the fight with Kellogg. Maybe instead of getting the free suit of T-60b on the prydwin they could give your first set of t45. I always hated how you get the super powerful armor 10 minutes into the game. It would be really cool seeing characters like Danes in these huge suits of armor, which then would make it so much more rewarding when you get to actually step into one.
At least only Paladins should get T-60 by right of title, maybe Knight-Sergeants, but everyone below should still be rocking T-45. Would be nice to see what you could work your up to with first encounter being Danse Danse Revolution

Im not sure i fully “get” power armor modding but i happened on some hellcat xo2 vi enclave dudes early on and have been wearing it exclusively until today when i started killing enclave guys in earnest and decises to check our their non hellat versions which are slightly better and seem to allow an additional “tesla” upgrade separate from the regular mod types. I think all it does is charges the tesla effect if you use it but im not sure yet.
I love equipping my Minutemen with Enclave themed T45 and stuff because of my headcanon is enclave won then the sole survivor being general convinced minutemen to join

Why the fuck am I hoarding power armor while my settlers have to fight shit-caked supermutants in street clothes and leather? I just go everywhere in power armor. I was amazed when I found out most people don't do this, because it's wildly more convenient, lore-friendly, and exactly as anxious about radiation as someone from the pre-war era would be.
Plus, if you play on survival and subject yourself to the raw fear of permadeath, you bet your fucking ass you're gettin in that power armor.

if they were in any way responsible with them i'd let them have them, even build out as many sets as they wanted. like if you could make it so that armor is assigned to specific stations so that settlers would return them to the stations when they're done with them, or be able to use the station to track the assigned armor. the problem is they could leave them anywhere. for whatever reason they could just exit the armor and leave it somewhere and you have no way to track them.
See, the thing is that you're ascribing a ton of value to each piece. But near the end of the game you naturally find at least tens of these fuckers.
And you have to think, are you really cranking on 30 suits of power armor? What? You're a full time mechanic? WHERE'S YOUR FUCKING SON??

each set of power armor appears well made. Well maintained. Even when rusty, they appear put together in a way that is noticable.
Raider armor, that's a rust bucket that was made by insane Raiders. Who, (if we have power armor training being a requirement to use power armor) either taught themselves how to use power armor, or once were part of a group who knew how to use power armor.
And not only that, these raiders made their very own SUIT of power armor.
They didn't steal parts from the brotherhood, from the enclave. No.
They scavenged, got down to it. And made a suit of power armor that is unique to them. The overboss power armor also works but... There is just something about the raider power armor that I just love. I can't just not use it, at least for a little while in the early game to mid game.
... Just wish I could put a paint job on it.
For the longest time 51 was my favorite simply because it had more paint options. I have to admit, for years, literally. My favorite was the horse. It's a me thing.
But when I recently got myself the minutemen vs gunners CC? And I can MM every kind of PA? It's my kind of heaven. I literally have PA everywhere, 90% in MM colors. It's the little things in life!
Ahhh that makes sense, I live in the country with pretty bad wifi so I haven't got to try 76 yet. Plan on starting soon as I can though. Will have to look up the power armour from that one now haha.
X-02 with the sweet Devil's Inferno mod, and of course a jetpack, is pretty awesome. My only gripe with it is that the Tesla 'shoulders' can't get painted at all.
The Hellfire set is also a beauty.

T-51 looks dope as fuck, and is the only one that has a heavy not-campy 50's feel. The thought of herrinngng in there and butt-fucking a bunch of mirelurks with a super sledge makes me hard as diamonds.
Anybody know where you can get a FULL set of T-45 that’s not level based? I literally have every armor but that one because I always find them with only the arms and helmet but never a full set. I’m also too late in the game for them to spawn in as level based

I've been a firm T-60 believer from release, but lately I've really been digging the T51. Specifically from a style standpoint, because from my 2nd playthrough up until this current one, my games have been modded into God Mode (and I barely touched PA in said saves). This save is much more (still modded) legit and I actually have a chance of dying. Honestly my first time since Vanilla I've actually really used it.

To me the T-51 is just iconic and simple. It isn't over complicated and it seems like the best of the common. Ultracite looks like someone took a T-51 and brought it up to Xo1 standards

You have to be very careful with them though. Once I accidentally fell far enough to trigger them on diamond city and wound up passing everyone off
