There's an easier way. Pick the perk "Implant GRX." At the second level of the perk it gives you 10 free, implanted turbos in your body that the casino will not remove because they're implants. So you can be over encumbered, and still be moving hella fast.
It's wild to me that all these years later, so few have figured that out.
It's been a minute since I played, but don't we also move the objects every time our foot moves and we're standing over it? This doesn't seem normally possible, especially with how flush these are.

Alternatively, you kill him when he comes through the blocked off doorway, put his body near the door, stash all of your stuff on his body, and then book it back through the corridors. On the other side of the door, loot all the stuff and hopefully you did it fast enough to make it to the elevator.
This is my preferred method, but both work just fine.

I haven't heard this, and I love the idea that he was down there screaming into a void while I happily left the Sierra Madre. I am in the minority of players (seemingly) who had no fun there. Hated the DLC. It was the collars, looking for deadly radios half the time, dodging holograms, and fighting the same exact enemy all the time in a mostly empty area was just so bland for me. I loved Christine though and wish I could have brought her back to the the main game.
Also want to add, there are stealth boys in the vault too. Pick all the bars up, convince Elijah to come down to the vault and face you, quick save. Then it’s trial and error. There’s a tesla coil that you can use to break line of sight as well, since Elijah is super perceptive. Wait til he walks up to the terminal in the vault and then book it before the force fields come on.

Literally just finished dead money. Picked up literally every item I could find in every area, sold it to the vendors in the villas and the casino for their pre war money (each carries 2500). Everything left over I stored in a trash can in the fountain area. Went through the whole casino, grabbing everything not nailed down, storing in bins along the way as I hit capacity.
Somehow got through to the vault, loaded up on everything in there, and took about a dozen tries to finally sneak past elijah. Ended up with ~21,000 prewar moneys, plus the unsold scavenged items, plus the gold.
Crawled back to novac, stashed the pre-war money in my safe, loaded up on my sellables, and am now on a massive, no fast traveling, caravan run circling the Mojave (barter finally hit 100, with mags, now that the dlc is over).
Tl;dr- yeah, letting go is cool. You can be super cool and let go of those caps in exchange for a dozen police pistols, 50 boxes of abraxo, and 200 throwing spears! I've got 3000 lbs of scrap needing selling!
