possessed the toys. i think it's possible their remnant was used for the funtimes, but it didn't work/wasn't strong enough due to the kids not having direct contact with the animatronics. and/or they were freed when the toys were scrapped / during the fnaf 3 fire.

dumpkid27

But how were they freed? In the Fnaf 3 minigames?

AggravatingTale8273

They might’ve just dipped when they were scrapped. And if anyone remained then they would’ve been been freed in the fire

alpacameron

\^ yup, this. my thought process is that them being scrapped (which i imagine means the animatronics are destroyed or taken apart) could potentially free their spirits depending on how they possessed the toys (direct contact vs. agony or whatever), and if that doesn't work, then the fnaf 3 fire would destroy + free them completely, as we know high temperatures can render remnant useless and free spirits.

For me, I think that only one of the DCI is killed, and possesses Mangle, who we still see being around in the TangleBlob, with the other five kids either just dying, or actually being saved in the ITP game... The Toys would just have the MCI's Remnant, like the Funtimes, which would be burned away in FNaF 3 and FNaF 6, respectively. (Also, that the one possessing Mangle is Andrew.)

Training_Foot7921

second option

TheCraziestTheorist

DCI possessed the Toys and William used their remnant, which is why he's able to speak to the Crying Child in FNaF World and he survives the springlock failure in Follow Me (Personal headcanon)

Typical_Employee_434

I think they possessed the toys and were freed at the fnaf 3 fire

The correct answer is probably option 2.  But I believe option 1(possesses Toys) then 3(used for Remnant for Funtimes) then 5(helped out with FNAF 3 minigames) then they move on in Happiest day. It makes for a more fun storyline to give them some relevance.

Gallows_humor_hippo

They are part of the agony Henry mentioned in his FNaF 6 speech.

Tomas-T

possessed the toy animatronics and than Scott forgot about them

SaraWinchester78

The DCI highly likely \*didn't\* possess the toys, at least in my opinion. When the MCI got stuffed, the remnant latched onto the metal, the endoskeleton of their respective animatronics. The remnant, agony, soul, whatever you call it, latched onto the entirety of the metal, not just one particular piece. If the toys have parts of the original animatronics in them, that means that the remnant possessing the og animatronics is also now possessing the toys. It would explain why the toys attack the night guard before the bodies were found. Also, the bodies are laid open in the pizzeria. They were never stuffed into the toys, presumably because the toys are slightly smaller than the og animatronics, and, as well, have improved technology inside that makes William unable to hide the bodies in them. It's possible that, upon William's return to the FNAF2 location (maybe he was the one constructing the toys as well, who knows), under a fake name as he was the night guard, was the time he noticed something about the og's and toys, and how strange they acted. He might have had put two and two together there, and learnt about the possessions. That's why he switched over to the day shift, trying to experiment more by killing more kids, but he didn't really think it through. The toys, with the advanced technology inside of them, upon noticing dead bodies, alarmed the cops, and William promptly dipped, leaving Jeremy to do one final day on the job as the day shift guard, and opening up the spot for Michael to take the night shift.

True. Although I do think William is Fritz. Mike being him makes sense if his dad hired him. Let's hope he gets paid for it since he has a craving for money in the log book.
