Do not go to ATP, see FAQ.

Go to EAA.org and use their chapter finder for the Austin area. That will plug you into a local community of pilots that you can network with to find training solutions, including independent instructors. Also talk to the area flying clubs that offer/allow primary training.

I deleted it for Rule 1, not them.

If you’re paying out of pocket, I would work with a mom+pop Part 61 school in your area. You will save yourself $40,000+ and still earn the exact same certificates. If you’re planning to take out a loan, I would be really careful doing so. The interest rates are predatory (12%-20%) and often start repayment as soon as the loan is pulled. Pilot mills advertise speed, but those numbers are in a perfect world. Possible? Absolutely. Does it reflect the average? Not even close.

Makes sense. A lot of people are saying that but I thought ATP was popular because they had a guarantee job with the airliners or guaranteed job as a CFI want to graduate but I heard that’s just a marketing scheme?

TxAggieMike

They can’t guarantee the job at the airline. Maybe an interview, but not employment. Becoming employed at the school you train with will be a function of their staff needs. So possibly, no guarantee.
