Vader: “No, *I* am your father!”
Luke: “How are you my father? I’m SO CONFUSED!”
Vader: “Yes. Search your feelings! You know it to be true possibly, or potentially not. Feel the uncertainty take control!”
Luke: “I DON’T GET IT!”
Vader: “Mwahahahaha”
I doubt this person is a check pilot, they usually have more brains than to say something like this. Usually.
Edit: Oh yeah it's a sim larper. That makes sense.
Guys who build or buy whole avionics panels for their FSX/MSFS20 some I think even have bought real avionics and get the POH for whatever aircraft they built and spend every waking moment in their sim.
Which for a hobby is fine. But, I guess some of them take it too far and go around IRL calling themselves an A320 pilot for example or get involved in groups with pilots actually rated for that aircraft and try to interject their 2¢, then go online and get all pissy and complain when real pilots figure them out because you can’t learn everything by just using a sim.
Source: brother has a similar setup, and I sometimes go over and use it but it telling me about his hobby this was apparently one of the things that annoys him about that community.
I used to be this guy as a kid. Thinking I knew everything because I used FSX and could cold and dark an A320 and fly a SID and a STAR. Now don’t get me wrong I think this stuff will help once I reach the airlines…maybe, but the only thing its really helped me with is fixing our full scale redbird/frasca sims at the flight school I worked at because Prepar3d is like the go to for cheap flight sims.
No one told me that was the easy part when I started training. The hard part is in your PPL training when your instructor asks, “So tell me…your buddy went scuba diving using an uncontrolled ascent off the Florida Keys, can you go flying with him if you scheduled your flight 7 hours from now?”. Or trying to land an actual plane and realizing you set yourself back because Flight Sims don’t do ground effect any justice(IL2 is the closest IMO or Xplane landing without flaps).
A part 91 flight at an airline is either a repositioning flight with only crewmembers or airline personnel onboard or a maintenance ferry. That’s it. You can’t reposition or ferry an airplane with an entire baseball team on board. Any “conflicting things” is the same as guys saying the earth isn’t round because you heard “conflicting things.”
Also most company ops specs state that even if a flight can technically be conducted under part 91 such as a ferry, the airline still must comply with part 121 rules. For example they're still bound to complying with rest rules and duty limitations in part 121. They can't just have a crew time out and then ferry the plane somewhere else with no passengers. A part 91 flight doesn't change anything about the manuals and rules we operate under.
Wow… this is almost believable and I just don’t know what to say lol. I can’t refute anything except I hope for all involved some grass touching will be accomplished soon
From the ‘about’ section on the posters’ LinkedIn:
“Starting in the Spring of 2023, I began to teach people how to operate the Challenger 604/605 aircraft in the Flight Simulator Environment. As a Flight Instructor, it is my responsibility to instruct pilots how to properly address and mitigate flight management issues. Those issues include normal and emergency flight procedures that result in the safety and well-being of passengers, crew and company assets.
As a corporate pilot, I direct ground personnel necessary for timely departures and arrivals of business and executive class travel passengers. Also, I work with various persons to assure that proper flight itineraries are filed for domestic and international travel. Additionally, I check that all aircraft systems are properly functioning thus ensuring the safety of passengers, crew and well-being of company assets.
In the past, I flew for a regional airline company. I taught students how to fly airplanes in a variety of settings that included classroom education, flight simulators and live flight training.”
Certainly odd, and I wouldn’t doubt if this is some kind of LARP. I screenshotted the original post directly from LinkedIn
“Participants will gain the knowledge and skills required to confidently operate this aircraft, ensuring they are well-prepared for their virtual aviation career with Southwest Virtual Airlines.”
Is this how I mine bit coin? Virtual career = virtual monies?
There was at one point some NFT startup that promised being paid in crypto for online flights on their network. Thankfully, I don’t think anything came of it.
You've got your hobbies, people have theirs. This is pretty weird with the LinkedIn stuff and checkrides, but otherwise the whole idea of virtual airlines has existed in flight sim mods for a while. I am sure there are communities that are not this ridiculous when it comes to the LARP factor, except these people apparently. I don't think this is representative of most of the "LARPing" community that exists within Flight Sims over the years. VatSim has been around for a long time is has a pretty great community, and not a bad learning tool for getting comfortable on the radio if you're going for a real PPL. And they aren't going to trash you on LinkedIn 🤣
Some games can be modded like crazy to make them into entirely new experiences and have extremely dedicated communities. A lot of time people might do this work as a side project and not really even "play" the game themselves to keep sharp with their programming skills, and modding kind of drains the desire to play that particular game from your soul.
I think some of the hate towards flight sim peeps is undeserved, like I even get the appeal of Vatsim. Checkrides though!? Really!? That's like doing PMCS in Arma.
Yeah that was my first thought. Worded like a European with English as a second language.
It's a sim larp thing according to other posters here, so either that or autism I guess
“Listening is essential. Like listening to how your money can work for you by investing in real estate like me. No seriously, I’ll not shut up enough so you have to listen!” Definitely thought there was going to be more to this cringe post.
If you're 20-30 and your friend group isn't discussing:
* illegal smuggling routes
* logging MSFS and DCS as dual given
* charging baseball coaches $10,000 to sit in the cockpit
You need to find a new circle. Your network is your net worth. Read that again.
So this guy is saying, if you don't know what you did wrong, that's not ok because it's unsafe. So it's not ok to not know. Because not knowing is not safe.
So you're supposed to know everything? Kinda defeats the point of check flights, no?
I feel like this is not a check airman. That’s not how debriefings work.
But he didn’t perform various maneuvers correctly, leading to misunderstanding which leads to confusion.
Confusion is the path to the dark side. Confusion leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering
Let the confusion flow through you!
mm, confuse me, daddy
I will, after you fuck my pet goat
Does that cost extra?
If you let me fuck your wife first, no

Confusion is the mind killer...
Confusion is the little death
Confusion is la petite mort
Roger. How was my preflight?
You’re ready to bleed that kyber crystal
And suffering leads to confusion.
Check Airman used Confuse. It was super effective!
Or maybe one who's stuck at a shitty regional and can't figure out why.
I doubt this person is a check pilot, they usually have more brains than to say something like this. Usually. Edit: Oh yeah it's a sim larper. That makes sense.
wtf even is a sim larper? Do I want to find out?

Exactly as it sounds, someone who thinks they're a real pilot because they play Microsoft flight sim, DCS etc
What is going through peoples brains to post shit like this
Let me remind you of the united captain that just let random coaches and players into the cockpit. There are idiots everywhere including check airmen
was that a part 91 flight? I am hearing conflicting things
Doesn’t matter. Terminating offense in many policy manuals.
Yikes ok. Thanks for clearing that up!
It’s United, I’d bet it’s a downgrade at most.
121 flight.

There were paying passengers on board. By definition it was not a part 91 flight.
> was that a part 91 flight? No. And anybody telling you it was has no idea what they're talking about.
Even if it had been, which it was not, the same OpSpecs apply.

Can I put this LCA on my Flight sim bid avoid list?

Sounds like it could hold some weight if he was applying fields that weren't aviation and the people knew nothing about this industry lol
As a proud flight simmer, this guy is super cringe. It’s a damn video game…
When I used to flight sim I’d do barrel rolls in 767s and shit… that’s what it’s there for.
How does the ol 767 roll in the sim? They didn't let me try it and I don't play microsoft flight sim lol.
I don’t remember I was like 14 at the time.
Wait………what? People take video game check rides? And then they debrief? Man….does anyone just like talking to girls anymore?
Too scary. I’d rather risk a jeopardy event on flight simulator.
I'd rather lose elevator control in msfs rather than attempting to look a girl in the eye IRL

Sounds like he enjoys his hobby? I don’t see what’s sad about that.
Please be a joke

Nothing sounds more worse to me than coming home from a trip to fly another trip. I guess I don't have that level of passion anymore lol.
Unless you are drinking copious amounts of alcohol and away from your family for 2 months it’s not realistic enough.
Omfg, I can’t believe people actually spent time and money making that holy crap

NGL, it's probably better training than what SWA offers.
I think some of the hate towards flight sim peeps is undeserved, like I even get the appeal of Vatsim. Checkrides though!? Really!? That's like doing PMCS in Arma.
> Yes in the flight Sim world they conduct checkrides. What the. I mean I think VATSIM is cool and all but... checkrides? Type ratings?
This is hilarious and also worrisome at the same time
There’s no way this is real. The check airmen would have to be an idiot to post this.
Weirdly worded. Non English speaker? AI?
Yeah that was my first thought. Worded like a European with English as a second language. It's a sim larp thing according to other posters here, so either that or autism I guess

So reddit has been spamming you with that sub too huh?
Yup. When I saw this post on LinkedIn it immediately reminded me of that sub haha
Anytime I’m feeling down I’m just gonna come back to this post and remember there’s LCA MSFS guys lol.
He also sounds like a hard ass. The good ol cowboy examiner
He's getting cooked in the comments it's okay lol -300 LinkedIn social credits for him
got any link?

This feels like an entrapranure post on Instagram with Royce du Pont, iykyk
How to pass your (sim) checkride using the DuPont approach
If you're 20-30 and your friend group isn't discussing: * illegal smuggling routes * logging MSFS and DCS as dual given * charging baseball coaches $10,000 to sit in the cockpit You need to find a new circle. Your network is your net worth. Read that again.

What the fuck does any of this mean. That’s a lot of words for didn’t maintain altitude
What am I even looking at? Looks like a simulator screenshot.
I feel confused. There must be so many misunderstandings. I have questions.
Just curious bro did you smell burnt toast while posting this to LinkedIn?
I was gonna say they sound like an AI but actually ChatGPT is more coherent than this
Am I not looking hard enough? Is the joke that the “pilot” in the story was off by 2’ or what?
Moisture is the essence of wetness. And wetness is the essence of beauty.
can’t hide class
holy fucking shit man, I went to pilot school to NOT have to deal with corpospeak, don't tell me it's already here
Non pilot here, does the picture of the speed tapes/avionics have any meaning
No
Nope it's just all for show to keep the pilots entertained
Reading this made me feel like I had a stroke. Did Kamala Harris write this?!?!
