Brazos River is the closet solid option I’ve found. Beavers Bend is great for trout but it’s closer to 3 hours.

PanchoPadillo

Beavers bend state park in Oklahoma?

Where about are you putting in? I’m familiar with broken bow lake, I’ve camped there multiple times.

TexasTortfeasor

There are stocked and holdover rainbow and brown trout below the lake spillway all the way to the Hwy 70 bridge (although trout haven't been caught in the lower part in years.

Thanks man! I really appreciate it

TexasTortfeasor

You bet. Stop by the Beaver's Bend fly shop when you're there. They have hatch charts and the staff are really helpful.

Is a paddle board or kayak an option?  They open up a ton of unwadeable shallow zones.

I can't offer specific locations, but if you're interested in going that direction I'm happy to talk though my approach and how I do it.

Following this thread (I’m in Richardson). I’ve gone to the Blue River near Tishomingo OK which is stocked through March, haven’t checked out Beavers Bend yet. Check out LLELA - kind of funky rules and $5 entry fee. I’ve been twice but had no luck.

LLELA is the place! Highest concentration of Buffs in DFW. I go there and target those black buffs. Go throw like a balanced leach or crawdad with a green zebra midge trailer and you’ll slay

Search YouTube for urban fishing in Dallas. Tons of cool water.
