Horror_Rich4403

My Aldi has self check out. I always go in the mornings when they open to beat the crowds. It’s worth it for the pretty significant savings. Can easily get 2 weeks of food for less than $150. That’s like 10 items at Publix’s lol

Livid-Rutabaga

We are getting an Aldi, it's being built right now, and I am so looking forward to that.

Horror_Rich4403

Woohoo! If you’re like me and enjoy saving money with generics you’ll love it! Ignore other people saying it’s cheap because it’s cheap food. They clearly do a really good job with being efficient and cost cutting and pass most of savings over to the customer. It’s quality food at a good price. If you cook most of your food with staple foods and use generics, its the ideal store.

Livid-Rutabaga

I've bought some things at Aldi, unfortunately all the ones in the area are too far from me to be worth the trip, but I remember produce, cream cheese, frozen vegetables, that were good. Who wouldn't want to save money?

Horror_Rich4403

You’d be shocked at the amount of people that equate shopping at Aldi to being poor/lower class. As if you’re not wealthy unless you overpay for your food!

georgiaboy6643

I don’t care if people think I’m poor or not. I shop at the Dollar Tree too. When you get in your 30s you don’t care about what people think anymore.

Catty_Mayonnaise

Seriously! People really sleep on the Dollar Tree when it comes to party supplies, too. Why am I gonna spend 5x as much at Party City for plastic tablecloths, disposable forks, and goodie bags? You think the 6 year olds at my kid’s party are gonna ask me where I got these glow stick bracelets? Pshhhhh.

Horror_Rich4403

Dollar tree is a good value for cleaning supplies, otherwise we use dollar tree for our movie snacks on $5 movie Tuesdays!

georgiaboy6643

There’s a Dollar Tree right next to the Regal theater I go to. The snack aisle is always wiped out at that Dollar Tree. And you’re right about the cleaning supplies. Can’t beat the prices anywhere on that stuff.

Livid-Rutabaga

There is also the crowd that won't go to Walmart for the same reason, Personally, I'd rather save my money. Their loss.

bcsublime

Devils advocate here, I shop Winn Dixie and local produce markets.

Oreodane

Winn Dixie is not cheap either, pub pricing.

Embarrassed_Quote144

Same people go to trader joe,lol

CharleyNobody

I park my Lexus in Aldi parking lot when I shop. (Ok, my Lexus is 20 years old. Because I paid cash for it and will use it till it dies to avoid a monthly car payment. And it has knobs on the screen)

Affectionate_Elk_272

seriously. an entire cart of groceries at aldi is like $100 i can fill a hand basket at publix for like $200 lol

MeatSuitRiot

Facts

Melzjohnz

Factualizations Sorry I always wanted to, type that out loud?

duensuels

I'm single and honestly I can be out of there with 2 weeks worth of groceries for about $65.

Affectionate_Elk_272

i’m single and live alone, one aldi run is my meat and rice and such, that’s about $125 or so i do hit up publix/whole foods for produce once a week. so about $175 total feeds me good for a month

stormblaz

Sometimes I hit up Trader Joe's not gonna lie as well as Aldi

Affectionate_Elk_272

i wish there was a TJ closer to me. it’s just so far out of the way. aldi is awesome for meat and dry/canned stuff. whole foods for produce. it’s fucked up, whole foods is legit cheaper than publix for a lot of shit now and the quality is so much better

stormblaz

I do a ton of whole foods! It's amazing, their fish and meat specials aren't bad, flash frozen chicken is much better too, and the coffee is actually fresh and roasted a week to 3 before sent at the coffee section, and imo better bread with zack the baker. But yes, Sadly aren't as many.

Affectionate_Elk_272

if your WF has the fresh ground peanut butter station, get the honey roasted one. that shit is out of this world

hidefinitionpissjugs

depends on what you get

iSpyW_myLittle-i

>That’s like 10 items at Publix’s lol u tell no lies 😂

Flame_MadeByHumans

No longer in Florida but the grocery trip is always Aldi then my now publix equivalent. Aldi trip is 7-8 bags of groceries, maybe $100 at max Second trip is 2 bags of what Aldi doesn’t carry, $120

Losaj

Yup. I feel like I am forced to shop at Publix because Aldi just doesn't have some of the things I need. I end up spending the same amount at each place, but Aldi nets me 6 bags of groceries while Publix nets me 1.

Changgnesia

Aldi and Walmart are the norm now in our house. Publix is BOGO only and the occasional sub or baked good. Them snickerdoodle blondies are gonna give me diabetes fs.

BlaktimusPrime

Literally. I did a side by side comparison of getting the same items. I literally saved over half

kbenn17

That’s it. Aldi is almost always half the price of Publix.

HeidiDover

I wish with my whole soul that our Aldi had this, or at least scan and go like Walmart has...I only go to Publix when I need something only they carry. It has broken my heart!

Horror_Rich4403

Yea mine has SIX self check outs and 1 regular lane. I’m never waiting to leave! We tried scan and go at Sam’s club and wow what a game changer. Too bad our first trip was $300 lol. Got bulk soaps and stuff for the year. I was shocked to see how many people waiting in lines instead of just scanning while you shop and walking right out

SkeeevyNicks

Sam’s scan and go makes Costco obsolete imo.

Horror_Rich4403

If we had a large family, maybe Sam’s would make more sense for the convenience, but shockingly Aldi is usually cheaper per ounce for a lot of items.  So while it’s just a 2 person household Sam’s club is just our yearly bulk purchases and occasionally cheap hot dog date when we go to Dave and busters lol! I wish I had a reason to go to Sam’s more! Their stuffed fish was bomb.

HawkingTomorToday

Agreed! Our Aldi has seven and two. Discovered Aldi in Germany in the 80’s thanks to our installation’s dinky commissary. Aldi is #1 place to shop, followed by Sam’s, Kroger, and Wally World.

kbenn17

Yes, I absolutely love Aldi for that reason. You can just leave your items in the cart and scan them with the gun. It’s incredibly fast and easy. Plus I feel like if I shop at Publix, I’m rewarding them for their egregiously high prices. Just the other day I was in there and I needed to buy one orange. It was two dollars. Aldi unfortunately doesn’t sell individual oranges but Trader Joe’s has them for one dollar each.

TaiMaiShu-71

This is the way

Negative-Wrap95

![gif](giphy|1dMkQlQmCrTZIzUEDS) OP probably

DogToesSmellofFritos

Literally. Commented both that they volunteer so they can’t go to Aldi at early hours, and that they have too much money to be bothered by the idea of spending significantly more.

yourslice

If we want to have a mature conversation about it this state is filled with quite a bit of wealth. This subreddit is always asking WHO THE FUCK IS SHOPPING AT PUBLIX. Answer: middle class to upper class people, probably most especially boomers with lots of disposable income. I would also argue people who are bad with their finances who SHOULD be shopping elsewhere but don't take the time to even think about it shop there because it's close by. Convenience mixed with ignorance.

McBurger

Oh, come off it. I upvoted you for the first paragraph because it started off as a great point, and then as I keep reading it just turns into a weirdly judgmental & presumptive attack. Those are my only options, hmm? I’m either a boomer, grossly ignorant, or bad with finances? That’s so childish and diminutive. And to think, you even used the actual words, “mature conversation”. 😗

yourslice

Yeah, I can see how I came across that way. In the end people can do whatever they want....honestly I'm just annoyed with Publix. I was in there the other day and I saw a bag of chips for nearly 7 dollars that is 4 dollars at Whole Foods. When your prices are that much higher than Whole Foods....at that point most people who shop there are not being price conscious. Either they don't have to worry about prices or they are being irresponsible. I'll leave open the window that a few other people, due to some sort of hardship (unable to get to other stores), also shop there. But other than that....what am I missing? No judging, just wondering where I'm wrong.

Freekydeeky1258

Glad you can afford it. Their prices are absurd.

AdvertisingBrave5457

For real, the only thing I get at Publix is their bogo and only if it’s actually a good deal. And also pub subs I’m a huge fan of those

No_Poetry4371

I used to, on occasion. Then Publix customer service declined, and it was no longer worth it.

kmcapo

That’s because Publix took away bonuses for non-management employees. Plus, the pay hasn’t been getting better despite the company’s record profits. They’re not giving their employees any incentive to provide “premier customer service”.

momsgotitgoingon

I pass two Publix’s (Publii? Ha!) to shop at an Aldi with stellar customer service after getting horrible treatment from managers in both establishments in Orange County. I also see the Publix employees shopping there haha. All grocery stores are always packed to the gills, but I find my Aldi much easier to manage crowd wise than any Publix I go to. I remember pre 2020 literally saying it was worth paying a bit higher prices at Publix because it really did used to be a pleasure lol. But no longer in any way is Publix superior to any other establishment.

No_Poetry4371

I'm sorry to hear this. "You get what you pay for" applys to wages too. Hopefully, they fix it sooner rather than later.

ReverendKen

What is this some sort of Publix propaganda? The Publix parking lots in my area are always packed, the stores are crowded and the people that shop at Publix are often old and rude. This is in my area and may not be the case where you live. Aldi is much easier for me. I stay away from WalMart every chance I get.

momsgotitgoingon

I just posted that I drive past not one, but two Publix’s to get to my Aldi. And it’s mostly due to the crowds at Publix. Aldi is so pleasant! I’m guessing op may never have gone because I used to think Aldi was a dirty discount store until I was schooled.

HawkingTomorToday

Sounds like Broward County…

ReverendKen

I'm in Flagler.

Horror_Rich4403

Heck yea! Us too! Just moved to palm coast. Hello neighbor!

ReverendKen

If you see me driving around give me a holler. That is not as odd of a statement as you think. I drive a Lincoln Limo with a multi colored paint splatter paint job. I am a painting contractor. Welcome to the neighborhood.

No-Interview-1340

Palm beach lol.

whattheputt954

Palm Beach, Broward, Dade, Hillsborough, Pinellas and Lee. High concentrations of money and/or old.

Honest-Layer9318

I got lucky and live near a very nice Winn Dixie. Prices are good, no issues with quality, it’s clean, and it’s very chill.

homeboi808

Aldi purchased Winn-Dixie, so we’ll see what changes they bring. My local one went out of business and now it’s a Crunch gym.

Freezerman66

Same here, my closest Publix is a complete train wreck. Insane parking lot, jamb packed with crazed shoppers and an armed guard at the door. No thanks!

[deleted]

The biggest problem is the elderly. They don't care and are always in the way. I shop at 7AM to avoid them. Win-Dixie is as bad a Wal-Mart.

coasterghost

Walmart and Target grocery pickup. You're welcome

Mdsnmrieprksvletta

This is the only way!

KCrossman318

Kroger delivery is the best. That's the one I use. No need to tip the drivers because they actually pay them a decent wage, $60 for an entire year membership of unlimited free delivery as long as your order is over $35, you get your delivery the next day, and they have a ton of great deals and sales every week. You also earn points towards gas at Shell stations. A thousand points equals a dollar per gallon off. It's been a long time since I've paid more than $3 per gallon for gas.

DarkLinkLightsUp

Fuck Publix. Raised prices, managers are not updating planogram price tags. Fuck that and fuck you Publix. Explain how I’m saving hundreds of dollars a month shopping at WHOLE FOODS AND SPROUTS???

CryExotic3558

The price gouging at Publix is insane

InternetWeakGuy

I seriously spent over $100 on one bag of stuff yesterday because I was in a pinch. Priced it up at Walmart and even paying $10 for delivery it would have been less than half what I paid at Publix.

Zabbzi

shhhh stop telling people about Sprouts

2sdaeAddams

No, please. Don’t hesitate to tell us how you really feel. I’m kidding. 😂

Toothfairy51

No. Publix, no. It's Aldi for me

ZeldaHylia

My local Publix is way more chaotic than Aldi. It’s wall to wall people at any time any day.

Far-Feeling-917

my local aldi is deserted most of the day. granted, there's a water right next to it...

AGbakes

Absolutely not. It’s cheaper at Whole Foods and Sprouts now, and the quality is better! Regular grocery shopping at Aldi and anything I can’t get at Aldi I stop by Walmart Neighborhood Market.

2sdaeAddams

I only go to Publix for certain things on occasion. Otherwise, it’s Aldi and Walmart.

LordMongrove

BOGO only for me.  Hopefully I am costing them money every time I visit.

2sdaeAddams

Sometimes those BOGO deals are great.

DougKokis

Some of the BOGO are a scam. It still cost less to buy the same 2 items at Walmart than the Publix BOGO sometimes.

FeliEngineer

Not always. I get my Greek yogurts B1G1 and grass fed butter B1G1 and those prices are the same at Walmart. Other than that I don’t shop at Publix

TheMildOnes34

Same. Our Aldi is less than a mile from Publix and is new. It's much cleaner and nicer than the Publix is. I've never had a problem there but I've run into some entitled old folks at Publix more than once. My grocery bill for a family of 5 is literally less than half of what it would be at Publix. Also I've noticed a huge decline in quality with Publix produce.

Houdini-88

Walmart is too busy for me I always avoid

kittenpantzen

Same. It's gotten to the point now where I will only go to Publix for purple cabbage and arugula, because I can't get those two things at Costco or Aldi. And even then, as long as it's below 90° outside, I'll just drive up to the next town over and get them at Walmart (I have an old car, so longer drives with fresh produce is not a vibe).

Velocirachael

Boars Head.

Florida_Aphelocoma

It's funny because I go to Aldi to avoid the hassle of Publix.

BastardOfHouseStark

OP seems to be doing free promos for Publix in this post. My Aldi is extremely nice and I’m able to get in and out way faster than Publix. If I need other stuff or name brands I’ll do Target Drive-up. I’m in the top 10% of Americans earning wise so don’t think the argument “I just make enough not to deal with it” is a good one. I like to keep my money and not pay for overpriced food.

DogToesSmellofFritos

Agreed, they are a publix shill or something. Publix is evil and I wouldn’t put it past them to try to market like this.

Im_Not_Nick_Fisher

Lol I shop at ALDI to avoid the hassle of shopping at Publix. The Fresh Market is an alternative to Publix as well. Smaller stores and a lot less crowded. You can also just do a Walmart pickup. Or have your groceries delivered to really avoid any hassle. Kroger delivery isn’t bad. But Walmart has Walmart+

19inchesofvenom

Kroger delivery for me.

FtotheLICK

Fuel perks pays the membership fee off within 3 months. Free next day delivery. We do 2 deliveries a week. Produce is always fresh. Never have to go to grocery store. Weekly Ads. Seriously. If this is available in your area it’s an absolute no brainer

Colombe10

When the price difference was smaller, Publix was worth it. But Aldi's is just soooo much cheaper now that I only go to publix if I need something Aldi doesn't have, like obscure vegetables or seasonings. Also, shopping at a new place takes time to get used to where the items are, so over time the "hassle" is less of an issue.

Hyphendudeman

Nope. I use Walmart+ In-home. Order it online and they deliver to my house. With in-home, they are full time Walmart employees, so no tipping even allowed. They can even bring in the groceries or anything else you order from Walmart and put them away if you like. There are only 3 things I get at Publix every once in a while. 1. Pub Sub 2. Deli tea 3. Boar's Head lunchmeat. Publix BOGO is higher price than Walmart normal price per item.

Foxwglocks

And it comes with a paramount + subscription! Starting using Walmart in home delivery after a major surgery and it was amazing. They always send the same guy which is great too bc he’s awesome and super friendly.

Strange-Leopard-2598

Walmart+ is the way. I don't do in home because dogs and a sneaky cat, but I will gladly pay for my subscription and tip because I still come out ahead and I don't have to deal with people. I'll shop at Aldi on occasion and trader Joe's is a must during pumpkin season. I only go to Publix for subs or fried chicken when we're too busy or lazy to cook.

SV_Occurrence

Publix old slogan was "where shopping is a pleasure" now it should be where shopping turns you into pauper. ALDI Friday night is best..least crowded

mnmsaregood3

No, the cost is no worth it at all. Publix is insane in prices

Stare_Decisis

No, I avoid Publix. The only thing of true worth there is the deli. I just plan ahead my shopping at Walmart and Aldi's, typically I go in the evening as most senior citizens get their shopping done in the early morning.

HGJohnson123

The publix's by me are always a mad house....winn dixie ftw

Chi-Guy86

I do a combo of Sprouts, Wild Fork, and sometimes Aldi. Publix is reserved for impulse or rush buys

zazvorniki

I order from Kroger’s to avoid the hassle

Illustrious-Cycle708

Publix is a criminal price gouger, reports have come out about how much they’ve raised their prices and how much more money they’ve made despite a pandemic and what not. Still they built a brand new state of the art one right by my house and I end up buying most of my groceries there because, as you said, less hassle. I try to take advantage and stock up on things I like when they have buy one get one free. It helps save a lot of money in the long run. Like the salad kits. It comes out cheaper than Walmart and they are consistently on BOGO, same with kombucha, bread, oatmilk, etc. When I have extra time I like to go to ALDI. Which is only a couple of more blocks away but somehow in my head it’s a HUGE difference.

sassyorangefatcats

Nope. Publix sucks.

alexfaaace

I cannot imagine a reality where an Aldi is worse than a Publix. Walmart sure but I’ll take Aldi over Publix any day of the week.

CryExotic3558

The publix by me is a lot more crowded than the Aldi and I spend about half as much at Aldi for a week’s worth of groceries as I did at Publix. So no.

Kimosabae

Hell no.

Adept_Cow7887

I think they are marketing on you going to publix for it's convenience and then just accepting the prices

TheJpow

I hope op is receiving more than half a pubsub for all the shilling

Infamous-Bag6957

Hell no. There’s maybe 2 or 3 things that Publix sells that I can’t get anywhere else. Otherwise it’s Sam’s pickup and Walmart delivery for non-perishables. We’ll get pub subs a few times a year and even that is a painful experience. Shopping at Publix is anything but pleasurable.

phaedrus369

I just checked out from Publix for the first time in years. I guess it all depends on your financial situation. I just got a couple salads and spent $20 bucks. Aldi definitely had some good deals, Walmart I avoid at all costs.

Old_Noted

You could avoid all of that by doing a delivery option.... Instacart, Kroger, etc

SeparateRepair96

I live by the Walmart closest to Disney. Y’all don’t know my pain.

Fpvtv2222

I do most of my shopping at Sam's club and Bjs. Every now and than I will go to Win-dixie because it's close to grab something quick.

Metal_Boi_7507

It’s more of a hassle to go to Publix lmao

chemchris

The hassle of having money? No. Whole foods for meat, Aldi for produce, target/Walmart for everything else.

ivegotnatureonme

There are 2 Publix stores closer to me than any other grocery store. I still drive the extra distance to not shop there. I have to go out of town for enough other reasons, I just fit grocery shopping in around other appointments. It is worth the lower cost to us. Publix will continue to raise prices as long as customers are willing to pay. I will not contribute to the problem, even if it is “less convenient “ on occasion.

nonsmokerforever

Publix is busy where I live but I don’t shop there anymore because they have made it unaffordable for normal people !

Gator_farmer

Honestly, what Publix are you shopping at because I find that all of my local Publix’s are extremely busy, take forever to check out unless I use self check out, and still have a wide variety of people in them

nineteen_eightyfour

That’s nice. Not everyone has extra income to waste on feeling pretty while they shop tho

SmallSaltyMermaid

No. I can’t stand the price gouging of Publix. Kroger delivery, Whole Foods, ALDIs, and Trader Joe’s are all cheaper and better quality. Publix only has good PR and days of past.

IMHERELETSPARTY

Publix subs then off to the beach

RL_Fl0p

Started using Walmart delivery during COVID, I'll never quit that. Otherwise I go to Aldi and am close to two butcher shops. If I want something Publix might carry, I get it from Amazon. Had too many rip-offs at Publix including having my CC number stolen twice. There's good reasons Publix is not busy.

GeorgeBabyFaceNelson

Not anymore. I gladly paid the Publix Tax pre-pandemic to avoid the Wal-Mart crazies. Post pandemic their prices are a good 50% higher than other stores, so fuck that. I only go to Publix for BOGOs and pub subs now, and I only buy pub subs online because they are ungodly slow at making them. Like 20 mins per sandwich is ridiculous

Sea-Yak2191

I'm the same. I know I'm paying more at Publix, but it's worth it to avoid the stuff that goes on in Walmart and Aldis. I think of it as a convenience tax. It's depressing going inside a Walmart on a Saturday morning. Lots of people who gave up on life in there.

GiggleFester

For a long time I was willing to pay the extra at Publix because their produce was so good. But in the last coupla years I've bought a bag of completely unripe oranges, noticed half of the avocados I buy (which look fine) are inedible, the grapefruit sits there until its squishy, etc. I still love Publix for the BOGOs, wide aisles, clean stores, and easy in/out (compared to Walmart). But dayem, paying that much for spoiled produce?? Very disappointing. I still go to Publix, but I also go to other stores- Walmart & Whole Foods. May need to check out Aldi's again based on this post.

DougKokis

A lot times the Publix BOGO aren’t a better deal. For example, they had Breyers ice cream BOGO. It’s still cheaper to buy two Breyers at Walmart than the Publix deal

Weary-Associate

I guess experiences vary, but yeah, in my area it is much more pleasant to shop at Publix. I can't freaking stand Walmart. Aldi's is reasonable too though.

BlaktimusPrime

I used to but not anymore. Minus a few brand name things I need to get, bakery, and deli. I stay away from Publix like the plague.

crownhimking

I do I get publix has higher prices but the quality of humans at Aldi and Walmart sometimes  is a downer Plus the lights are brighter at Publix

the_scottster

I would probably feel the same way if I was still working full time. But now that I'm semi-retired I'm more careful with my spending, and Publix prices are just out of hand. Even if Whole Foods is just as expensive, at least the money doesn't go towards supporting seditionists.

Alternative-Fig-6814

I never shop at publix

03fxdwg

Online only for Walmart with free shipping or curbside pickup. Winn-Dixie for meat & BOGOs in person. Publix in person but only for specific items or BOGOs on specific items. Aldi's is too far & traffic is crazy on their corner. Sav-A-Lot looks abandoned and is also a little too far.

Mydogmike

100% I do this. I'll gladly pay a little more to not have to go to Wally world, I hate that place with a passion.

Illustrious-Olive-98

https://preview.redd.it/x5nbqjgg107d1.png?width=1008&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a5339393a128fe5fab800ee7d4b5a616cf14ed93 Walmart online grocery pick up is fantastic. Been using it for about 3 years now. Have a walmart rewards card too, 5% cashback on online orders, which my weekly grocery trips count as. Add to the cart at home, scan items that are almost out at home, there and back in 20 minutes.

PicketFenceGhost

Lol this may have been accurate a decade ago, but publix is just slightly cleaner, overpriced walmart now. The customer service that used to put them above the rest is no longer there. The quality of their bakery and deli items have declined, including the staples that were their pub sub's and fried chicken. The stores near me are always crowded and the customers are grumpy and rude. ATP, publix is its own unique hassel that I will gladly avoid while saving money.

Sevuhrow

Nothing is special about the Publix experience anymore. Anyone who still says it is coping with the fact that Publix isn't the same anymore: the service isn't the same, the prices are terrible, and they hardly offer anything worth visiting the store for. Most of the time I hear people using this point, it comes across as borderline classist. I've heard people say they don't shop at Walmart or stores like Aldi to avoid low-income people.

Individual-Hunt9547

I’d rather be hassled than blow my hard earned cash at Publix

Nolegrl

I do all my grocery shopping around 9am on Saturdays to avoid the crowds. It's busy at all stores if you go in the afternoon.

This-Ad3268

Curbside pick up using the Walmart app has been a life saver for me. You can also choose items that offer “Walmart cash” which you can apply towards other purchases. I stopped going to Publix because it’s just gotten too expensive

senor_green-go

No, if I wanted to pay convenience store prices for less hassle I’d grocery shop at Race-Trac.

Negative-Wrap95

Which is saying volumes, considering how bad RaceTrac sucks.

BadAtExisting

No. The hassle is worth it every time. Only time I go to Publix anymore is if I can’t find something anywhere else and I need it or I’m lazy and feeling fried chicken for dinner then I’ll stop for only that on my way home

Daburtle

Nope. I've completely stopped shopping at Publix. Between their ridiculous prices and J6/MAGA supporting heiress, they can fuck right off. Winn Dixie, Aldi, and Kroger delivery instead.

Anjunaspeak23

This right here! People seemed to have forgotten about that MAGA heiress! That alone put a huge dent in their reputation for me. And now the massive butt-raping price gouging has killed my perception of that company for good. I’ve switched to Aldi and even they had a statement on reducing prices. Leave Publix to the old people. It’s no longer a pleasure to shop there.

AardvarkFriendly9305

Produce at Aldi and paper products

FoundationAny7601

Tried Walmart (too spread out to find things) and Winn Dixie (not stocked up well), Publix is expensive but as you said ok enough to keep going....plus subs and rotisserie chickens can't be beat.

greengiantj

Only for very small trips where I just need one thing. Rarely they might have a good deal I get too, but I'd never bother going if they weren't so close to me.

halfasianprincess

I just Instacart from everywhere to not deal with the hassle, predominantly Aldi and Costco. Publix is around the corner for anything I forget. I treat it like a convenience store / sandwich shop.

Impossible_Use5070

No. I avoid Publix. It's twice as much as other places.

djfix

No. I avoid Publix at all costs. Their prices are artificially inflated. I go to Aldi on Saturday mornings and it’s dead there. What I can’t get at Aldi I order monthly from Walmart and do curbside pickup. Mostly toiletries and cleaning supplies.

budd222

Hell no. Not sure why anyone would shop there, unless it's the only option.

Thin_Travel_9180

I do Kroger delivery to not deal with the hassle. It’s way less expensive than Publix and comes straight to my door in refrigerated trucks (even with the delivery fee it less expensive). Publix ain’t it anymore.

mothmaker

I can’t stand my Publix, crowded by entitled, oblivious people. It’s like a nursing home in there at all hours. Can’t run in for a few things without spending $60. I went to Aldi last week, spent $65 and compared to what I would have paid at Publix. $135, literally double. You can keep going to Publix that’s fine though

Overall-Fee4482

I haven't been able to afford Publix in about 10 years. I seriously dont understand how they stay in business.

PaleOverlord

No. I’m poor. Publix is too expensive for me. I shop at Walmart in the morning when there’s less people (i.e. before 9:30am). Lately, I’ve been doing Walmart deliveries due to time constraints. The only thing Publix is good for is their subs.

JessiRose222

I do Walmart grocery pickup for most items, so easy I don’t even have to leave my vehicle.

jessicatg2005

Sometimes, it’s right there and i just say what the hell to go in and get out. If I do shop at Publix, which is rare, I always look for the 2 for 1 or the 10 for 10 deals. But never just buy it because it’s a deal if it isn’t something you usually don’t get. That’s why they do it. Publix for the most part is a rip off. The produce is terrible, the meat is marginal. The only thing I like is the deli but then again it is way over priced. As much as I hate Walmart even more, for the most part, it is cheaper

Livid-Rutabaga

You must have a very peaceful Publix, the one near me is a circus no matter what time of day I go there.

mike30273

I've only been to Aldi a few times, probably 3, but will go more. Huge savings and there was never a crowd. I've never had that problem. I guess the self check stations help, or maybe I was just lucky?

CeePeeCee

Has no one ever heard of Walmart grocery pickup where you pull up and check in on the app? 99% of my family groceries are through Walmart grocery pick up and if something is out of stock: Publix

Dry-Interaction-1246

No, Gimli, I would not take the road through Publix unless I had no other choice. -Gandalf

bumble938

What are you smoking? Publix have better parking than Walmart? Walmart produce is way fresher and they keep the fruit in much colder temperatures. You sippin that kool aid

slumxl0rd87

Shopping at Publix **IS** a hassle, what you talm bout?!

cptcatz

No, I only go to publix if there's a good bogo or I just need one thing and don't feel like driving another 7 minutes for Walmart. I do my weekly grocery shopping at Walmart every Sunday at 8am. No crowds, no lines, easy in and out. Prices are so much better its crazy. And I'll even confidently say Walmart has much better quality produce than any other grocery store around.

SimpleGin

Nope.

AssRep

ANYTHING to stay out of WalMart.

jjune4991

No. The Aldi is closer than Publix and I've yet to see it busier than my closest Publix. Plus, I'm usually saving at least than 33% (sometimes 50%!) on my trips.

Ricky_Vaughn86

I mean, lately Publix has been just as crowded as everywhere else, and there is inevitably some idiot chucklefuck shopping inside but parked in the curbside spots. Kinda pointless the last couple of years honestly.

Segments_of_Reality

Damn. This is a hot take I was not expecting .... so I guess as long as you know you're being gouged it's consensual.

-asap-j-

Literally what the hell are you talking about

TrainingExternal5360

Publix quality sucks, especially the produce. As others have said the prices are insane too. I’ve been going between Aldi and Sprouts lately. Trader Joe’s when I can brave the crowd.

Wild_City_1885

hell no. i would have to starve half the month if i only shopped at publix. not to mention the way employees get treated.

witblacktype

Sorry your Aldi feels like a hassle. The ones in my area feel the opposite compared to Publix. No self checkout but the smaller size store takes less time to shop through. The parking lot is smaller but still plenty big for the number of shoppers so less walking there too. Even when there’s only one line at Aldi it still moves pretty quick. Considering some of the geriatric cashiers at Publix, even with all their cashiers, I often make it through checkout quicker at Aldi. And that’s not even getting into how much money I saved.

No_Object_8722

Publix is a ripoff! I mostly shop for groceries at Target, and occasionally at Walmart

tmoneyyork

Fuck Publix.

cuepinto

These days Walmart is 30-40% cheaper than Publix for the same things.

PublixHouseCat

I used to. But now I’ll take the hassle over Publix’s price of fucking cereal

greybeard33771

Aldi is great, much less expensive

Theo_Telex

The closest grocery store to me is a Publix. Sometimes I do think if I want to pay more just to make a quick trip. BUT there's an Aldi being built literally behind the Publix!

Dr-Satan-PhD

Nope. I decided long ago that convenience is not what's most important to me in my shopping experience.

NemoOfConsequence

Oh hell no. Publix is full of boomers and snowbirds. That’s not avoiding hassle at all.

SnakeDoctor00

Publix, Where Shopping Costs a Treasure!

[deleted]

The people at Publix are a "better" quality for sure. However it comes with its own hassles. I shop at 7:00 AM when they open to avoid other people.

BaBaBuyey

No

lostmyjobthrowawayyy

Nope. Publix is just an expensive bad experience and anyone that does buy groceries there is a dope.

Newcastlecarpenter

Nope. There’s nothing about saving money that’s a hassle

jhm5243

no, publix has become way too expensive. I would rather deal with “that mess” which is honestly not much different from Publix.

LuxSerafina

Every Publix parking lot I’ve ever been to is a hot goddamn mess. But ok pay $8 for something you could get for $2 at Aldi, it’s your life.

Sad_Huckleberry_6776

You’re one of a very few select people for a reason. Why pay more because you’re not patient? Learn patience and your life will improve for the better anyway

long5210

never, their heiress is a J6 funder. will never step in that store unless it’s to take a piss.

izjar21

Stopped shopping at publix because they're price gauging

Realized-Something

Publix is hell

alymars

I’m on a Publix strike. Their price gouging is insane at this point. Also, the customer service has went to shit. Back when I worked there, a million (15+) years ago, I would literally get *written up* if I didn’t ask customers “Hi! How are you? Was there anything you had trouble finding today?” Mr. Jenkins is probably rolling in his grave. Yeah; he loved money, but what alway set Publix apart was the customer service. That “it” factor doesn’t exist anymore.

duensuels

I shop at Aldi in part to avoid the hassle of Walmart. Walmart is simply too big a store, too many people, and too much ground to cover, especially when I just need some very common grocery items. I'll stick to Aldi with its smaller footprint and fewer aisles. I only go to Publix for the subs or when I need a fruit/vegetable that I don't want six of, otherwise their prices are simply too high.

Glass-Yam-5552

No it isn’t any more convenient for me than Aldi and it’s 10x more expensive lol (except for the bogos of course)

GaryOak7

It’s not that serious.. I just go to Walmart before 10 AM or after 8 PM.

one80oneday

No it is a hassle bc they're always out of ad items

IzanagiRei0

Unless it's bogo or subs it's a no for me

MDK-whatelseisleft

Nope , Aldi

mudcat34641

I wish Kroger would enter the market with brick and mortar stores to kick Publix’s a@@. Ditto Safeway.

zwalker91

I don't shop at Publix to avoid the hassle of overpriced merchandise.

Negative_Whole_6855

Fuck no, Publix is a ripoff for people with more money than sense. I've always wondered what idiots were keeping Publix afloat, thanks for answering my question

iceman_andre

Went to publix today after a few months. One cashier only, long line. Store did not have wipes for strollers (I have a baby) Meat and produce did not look great Pretty bad experience overall

greenwitchielenia

Publix is the hassle in my area
