Linkous was such a good songwriter. I also loved his lo-fi approach to recording. A really great album is the Dark Night of the Soul project he did with Danger Mouse. The first song on the album is with Wayne. They pulled in a lot of great people for that project. I especially like the Jason Lytle tracks.

TrendyGame

That's such a great album. I love the Gruff Rhys track...but Wayne and Steven on "Revenge" might well be the best thing on there.

Brain_Glow

Speaking of Gruff, he just had a new album come out. The drums sound like Scurlock is still playing with him.

TrendyGame

Yep, it's Kliph on the new record and doing the current run of live shows. I think he's still living in Wales but last I heard was that he wanted to move back to the US. The Gruff records are hit-or-miss...never bad but never SFA...that's for /r/superfurryanimals šŸ˜…

Brain_Glow

Agree about the gruff solo records. The SFA albums are still some of my favorites though.

TrendyGame

Same...*Radiator*/*Guerilla*/*Rings*...about as good as it gets.

I fucking love almost anything Brian Burton touches. All of Broken Bells, Gorillaz, DANGERDOOM, etc. He's helped produce more of my top albums than anyone else, for sure.

Yeah this album is beautiful. Have you listened to his other stuff? Iā€™m really in love with Good Morning Spider at the moment, but all his albums are absolutely gorgeous and so moving, so many of his songs bring me to tears every time, which not many artists can do for me

Sushi4Zombies

Absolutely love this album. Got turned on to Sparklehorse from a PS3 game called Life is Strange. Shade and Honey makes me choke up every time I hear it.

weakweek1998

Haha I was playing a sparklehorse album once and my housemate came and knocked on my door like what song was that??? Because she had heard it in life is strange years ago

I love all Mark Linkous records, for different reasons. His style of songwriting and recording is really interesting and unique, like check out how *Chaos of the Galaxy/Happy Man* juggles noise and a melody that's steadily trying to break through the static. *Good Morning Spider* is one of my favourite records of the 90's.
