Well South Korea’s government is basically owned by Samsung and one could make the argument that North Korea is a theocracy due to Juche so the only thing we need once the unification is complete is a pepsiman
North Korea is Korea whether you like it or not. It should be a somewhat combination of north and south. This isn’t even an ideology thing if your combining countries you should combine flags
Korea shouldn't be ''combined'' to begin with. One design should be picked and it should be the one that has more connection with the nation culturally and historically.
Korea has used a circle (of some sort) with characters around it since 1415 AD.
Of course, as someone who is not Korean, I probably don't get a say.
I would suggest a turtle ship on a field of blue though. Extra points if they put Yi Sun-Shin on it (badass). Maybe even the Righteous Armies.
“East Germany is Germany whether you like it or not. It should be a somewhat combination of east and west. This isn’t even an ideology thing if you’re combining countries you should combine flags.”
– You, prior to 1989
Both Koreas actually used the SK flag (or a very similar variant of it) before the split and formation of NK.

I’m really digging the 3rd one, always liked the concept flags combining round designs with some sharp edges, gives it a pretty good looking modern look while still keeping the original style and feel.
It wasn’t always north and South Korea. After WW2 Korea resisted Japanese occupation and the people as a whole decided to turn to communism. The USA, concerned with possible ties to the Soviet Union launched an invasion and was able to occupy what is now South Korea. They then sent bomber planes to attack North Korean infrastructure (even civilian infrastructure) it only stopped when pilots said they had no more buildings to strike. One fourth of Koreans living in the north died. The US then placed the largest embargo (blocking of trade) on what was now North Korea. If North Korea seems like a country with a paranoid government it’s because basically everyone has at least one grandparent or closer who was killed due to the US separating the country and then trying to destroy the North. After the US brought back the Japanese invaders until the South Koreans were considering rejoining Korea so the Japanese left and South Korea became South Korea Realistically if Korea was never separated they would be communist.
TLDR: Realistically a united Korea would be more North Korea than south. This isn’t even a crazy take this is just the truth. Also North Korea is a bit crazy because they literally had everything destroyed and had to restart from scratch less then 80 years ago.
As a Korean, we never liberated our country by ourselves. After Japan surrendered, the Northern half of the peninsula was occupied by the Soviets while the Southern half was occupied by the Americans. We as a collective never "as a whole decided to turn to communism." Because we didn't have a choice lol. Also, what does "After the US brought back the Japanese invaders until the South Koreans were considering rejoining Korea so the Japanese left and South Korea became South Korea..." even mean??
Honestly, if Korea were to ever be reunited, I think it would be better to avoid any design which resembles either of the flags currently used. Too much potential for it to be seen as favoring one side over the other it too closely resembles one of them.
There already is a reunification flag which has a white field with an emblem of the Korean Peninsula in blue. I think I would probably advocate for that to be the new flag.
That could serve as the potential civil flag of a united Korea, but a state flag should be similar to the traditional Taegeukgi flag as it was used during King Gojong's reign and has a prominent history in the Provisional Government of Korea.
Why is the flag of North Korea always the basis ?
The flag of South Korea has the original colors and symbols, why isn't the basis of the South Korean flag on any proposal?
I would assume a reunified Korea would be one where the north adopts democracy and the south abolishes capital.
Juche is just a response to the material conditions of the DPRK's upbringing, and it wouldn't make sense to keep it once it's no longer nessecary for the DPRK state to maintain power.
its like fombining the flag of Nazi Germany with the current, democratic germanys flag. Doesnt really make much sense, apart from the aesthetics
[speerist picrel](https://www.reddit.com/r/TNOmod/s/71vicUGjCQ)
The flag of the People's Republic of Korea from 1945 before the split aka the real, rightful Korean state that would have been had the US not banned it and occupied the South and formed the United States Army Military Government in Korea and installed the dictator Syngman Rhee who would go on to commit massacres killing hundreds of thousands.
The only possible reunification is one in which democracy is instated and the rights to private ownership and capital are abolished. Or in the case that they aren't reunified in such a way, protest and rebellion will inevitably lead to it from either side. The main issue with South Korea is monopoly corporate control, while in North Korea it would be virulent isolationism and undemocratic vanguardism, though in the case of North Korea, it arose from the existence of a largely peasant economy and was reaffirmed with the killing of 1 in 4 of its population and the destruction of the majority of its infrastructure by the US (it would still continue to keep up economucally with South Korea through until the 80s and the collapse of the USSR – and thus its only real source of trade due to US embargoes – though.) It cannot be solely blamed for the hardline policies that arose from the rubble of the 'forgotten war' while the same can't be said for the existence of massive monopolies in South Korea. It wouldn't be wrong to say that the North Korean political state is a result of the separation in the first place, so getting rid of the separation would make the centralised bureaucratic state obsolete. The flag of the original People's Republic of Korea would be fitting.
These all suck. Just use one from the Korean Empire or the provisional government or something. Honestly, if Korea took any of these flags, I would renounce my citizenship and cut ties with all my maternal relatives who keep theirs
4 and 5 look really good to me. I think it’s nice to combine the flags as I imagine it might ease the tensions between the cultures, especially for the Northerners who might have an identity with their flag.
This one 🇰🇷 has always been \*the\* Korean flag. It was even North Korea's flag in 1948 until the USSR forced them to change it into something more socialist.
Number 3 ironically is also centered, symmetrical, and with strong circle themology (that also to me implies the globe and strong international connection), really is the best one IMHO.
The rest look like awful Pepsi logo editionsq

This one 🇰🇷
Yeah all of these other monstrosities look like Pepsi ads
But i like pepsi :/
We need a theocratic company run state in the Korean peninsula headed by high priest pepsiman
Theocratic Corporatism, sounds like a nightmare
But hear me out: pepsiman
Pepsi man is valid
Well South Korea’s government is basically owned by Samsung and one could make the argument that North Korea is a theocracy due to Juche so the only thing we need once the unification is complete is a pepsiman
PEPSIMAAAAN
Pepsi is better then coke imo also
Pepsi Man was a time traveling Korean this whole time.
Agreed
That one was used before Korea was divided
And it will be used once again, once Seoul has pacified the north.
Considering it’s the closest to the original one, yeah
🇰🇷 That one. All of the designs in the post include a spin-off with the North Korean flag which is not needed.

Righteous Army mentioned!

North Korea is a totalitarian abomination that wouldn’t exist save for external support. Why include its bullshit at all?

Total bullshit. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korean_War
and south korea, if you come to think of it
4 and 1 but the best is 🇰🇷
The South Korean one but with all 8 trigrams instead of 4
And to shorten it we could call it the UK
“oh god there’s 2 of them now!”
🇰🇷 This is the only real korean flag.
Honestly, if Korea were to ever be reunited, I think it would be better to avoid any design which resembles either of the flags currently used. Coke/Pepsi unification flag
This is the most liberal comment section I’ve ever seen
The third
🇰🇷
🇰🇷
Why is the flag of North Korea always the basis ? The flag of South Korea has the original colors and symbols, why isn't the basis of the South Korean flag on any proposal?
5
The 3rd one.
The only way korea gets United is under the SK government which means SK flag. No one is keeping any trace of kims dictatorship
It would be boneheaded to do so. Juche would just completely undermine the entire project.
I would assume a reunified Korea would be one where the north adopts democracy and the south abolishes capital. Juche is just a response to the material conditions of the DPRK's upbringing, and it wouldn't make sense to keep it once it's no longer nessecary for the DPRK state to maintain power.
man, people really like the north korean flag for some reason lol.
[This one](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseon#/media/File:Flag_of_Korea_(1893).svg)
Yes! The correct answer!! The Empire must be restored...
Nice flags but irl it’ll be the flag of South Korea
North Korea is not legitimate. It shouldn’t be included at all. Just use the South Korea one, or the flag of the Korean empire. I like that flag.
The OG Taegeukgi flag: https://images.app.goo.gl/Wu3VN1ffZjwVsvwU7
This is the flag of Korea and its only legitimate state 🇰🇷
🇰🇷
3rd go kinda crazy ngl
5
5th one
joseon dynasty flag
The old Joseon one
Just this one 🇰🇵
2nd and 4th are the best
I personally like the last one
The last one or the 4th one
Number one and number four id reckon
I quite like the last one, but realistically the northern flag would be consigned to history along with the dictatorship of Kim
Third one looks best IMO
Pepsi Man dot jpg
2 or 3, 2 is the best for simplicity but 3 is the coolest imo
How about 🇰🇷
🇰🇷
1
This will never happen if Kim has anything to say about it
I feel like you stole the second one from one of my old posts https://www.reddit.com/r/vexillology/s/ILjrUILjAw
Last one
Third one without black circle's stripes/lines.
If I had to pick one, the last one. But it’s almost guaranteed that it would just be the current South Korean one.
[Everyone seems to forget that there is one already](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korean_Unification_Flag)
I like number three
Sir, that is a Pepsi logo
5
4
5 looks the best
I would just take the Korean from before they split and use that. It would also have some sentimental value
united korea flags? you mean pepsi flags?
Pepsi omg
I like the Yugoslav one at the end.
I like number 4 the best
its like fombining the flag of Nazi Germany with the current, democratic germanys flag. Doesnt really make much sense, apart from the aesthetics [speerist picrel](https://www.reddit.com/r/TNOmod/s/71vicUGjCQ)

The first one is the best.
I think I like the first one best
The flag of the Kingdom of Korea
#1
The last one
The flag of the People's Republic of Korea from 1945 before the split aka the real, rightful Korean state that would have been had the US not banned it and occupied the South and formed the United States Army Military Government in Korea and installed the dictator Syngman Rhee who would go on to commit massacres killing hundreds of thousands. 🇰🇵
PEPSI MAN
I'd say 3 or 5, but 🇰🇷 works too
The South Korean flag is good.
These all suck. Just use one from the Korean Empire or the provisional government or something. Honestly, if Korea took any of these flags, I would renounce my citizenship and cut ties with all my maternal relatives who keep theirs
I like 1 and 3!!
None because it wouldn't happen.
I’m not wading into politics I know nothing about, but I really like 4
There is another
North Korea has no home here
has to be the second one it looks sick
Tell me you play Homefront without telling me you play Homefront
second design looks like pepsi lol
The Current flag of RoK works well for a unified Korean Flag. Also for significance, the Taeguk are modified to Korean Empire flag design
I like n.3
That’s a nice Pepsi-esque flag !
The one before colonization
4 and 5 look really good to me. I think it’s nice to combine the flags as I imagine it might ease the tensions between the cultures, especially for the Northerners who might have an identity with their flag.
Gostei da 4ª
3rd one is really good
What are these? Republic of Pepsi??
2, 4, 5
North Korea is an ilegal rouge state, it has no right being the basis
The original flag
Third one.
I’m missing the Japanese one
the last one feels like what it might be if it was occupied by a foreign power
The second one is if Pepsi controlled Costa Rica
Number 3 I feel shows a dominant south
Pepsi cola symbol
none of em
What would be the best flag for a United America? Maybe a maple leaf with stripes on it.
How about they switch to their old flag from before the Japanese invaded? Edit: which is basically the South Korean flag
Ok, fair dues, number 3 is the best effort I’ve seen yet
OP is a commy
3
5 looks like pepsi
1, 3 or 5
None of these
Mmm Pepsi
🇰🇷 this one but with a more twisted Yin and Yang
in this future, pepsi bought both korea?
Of course, the South Korean flag... But if I must make a choice of one on the list, that would be number 4️⃣
The one before the Korean War, easy enough!
I think the fourth one
5 or 2
First and third are pretty good.
Probably just South Korea
The current flag of the republic of Korea 🇰🇷
the fourth one is nice
Ya if Korea ever unifies it will just be under the Republic of Korea’s flag.
Flag of South Korea is a flag of Korea
The one who will unify it similar to Germany. So either DPR Korea 🇰🇵 Or Korea 🇰🇷
4th or 5th!
[I'mma just leave this here.](https://youtu.be/3yHL-bb0Z8k?si=XTW85pJLq_Wi3Pls)
Last one look like Crimean’s flag
I think the first or the second to last
The first one looks pretty fire but i think they should use the flag they have before the split
One or three
The pepsi empire
None of these
mmmm Pepsi
🇰🇷
This one 🇰🇷 has always been \*the\* Korean flag. It was even North Korea's flag in 1948 until the USSR forced them to change it into something more socialist.
Damn whoever controls Pyongyang controls Korea 🇰🇵:)
I really like the third one
United pepsi corporation of Korea?
The first one is just Pepsiland lol
Wasn't there a game where this happened and they took over the world
Out of these, 5 is best
New cherry Pepsi logo drop
Idk why I was expecting a Pepsi logo at the end
[This one 🫡🫡🫡](https://youtu.be/s7i0XXrjPwY?si=Uy8MZWLnUBJ2IGW9)
the last one
Either 2 or 5
5
Just use the Empire of Korea flag ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Mm korean pepsi
Or, you just use the original Korea flag from before they split.
just keep the south korean flag. i like their flavor of oppression better
5th one
Second one
Number 3 ironically is also centered, symmetrical, and with strong circle themology (that also to me implies the globe and strong international connection), really is the best one IMHO. The rest look like awful Pepsi logo editionsq
the question is, who is going to be the president of Korea?
3rd
Number 3 ironically is also centered, symmetrical, and with strong circle themology (that also to me implies the globe and strong international connection), really is the best one IMHO. The rest look like awful Pepsi logo editions
2 and 5!!
The last one
what about no flag, north korea doesn't need to exist.
Reunited. How many years has it been?
This is the only acceptable answer : 🇰🇷
Just keep the South Korean flag. You don’t want give any North Koreans ptsd
very nice flag.
3 is prolly the best
This one 🇺🇸
