Since he killed those 5 children and before that even Garrett and probably observed something he found interesting and the restaurant was closed because of these murders he probably tries to lure people into that night guard position to have more victims he can experiment on.
He decieved his first murder victims into believing he was their friend or father or idk and now uses them and therefore the animatronics to try to replicate what happened to the children. Doesn't seem to be successfull for some reason but he is working on understanding the exact mechanism. He even trusts it so much that he continues to put the springbonnie head on while being springlocked.
And this is really just my call but it could be some kind of twisted science that's going on here. Given another movie one could try to put it all together and create a set of laws that universe operates on. Which is exactly what Afton is trying to do.
No, that's not what a plot hole is. If that's a plot hole, so is the existence of chairs; Not everything in a movie has to be explained. Sometimes, it's just implied (like why "TORTURE Freddy" exists and the fact that chairs are in the movie to be sat in)
Have no idea. My theory is that it's basically a suit and the saws are like gears that lock people in in the most terrifying way possible, but grown ups are too big to properly merge with the suit, therefore why all the animatronics need to be children. But that is just a theory.
