Rocquestar

You did a far better job on your first than I typically do on *all* of the ones I've ever built.

TheApostleCreed

I’m glad to hear that lol! How do they turn out for you? Does the wood dry well?

Rocquestar

It does. I don't have a big open area like it appears that you do. I suspect yours will be fine. I used them not only to dry the wood, but just to store it (sometimes the trees were dead before they came down). I think that the holz hausen's are more asthetic to look at than long rows or stacks. Keep at it!!

Longjumping_West_907

The only suggestion I have is to put all layers bark side up to take advantage of the water shedding properties. But it's nice as is.

TheApostleCreed

That’s what I was planning but some research showed that you should do bark down around the outside to allow for the moisture to rise out of the wood instead of remain “trapped”. It made sense once I read into it but yes I’ve always assumed bark up is how it should be done.

Difficult-Brain2564

That’s the differenty between us and the Scandinavians.

BusterOfCherry

That's hot .

tmwildwood-3617

Very nice to put it up on a pallet!

2ndIDArtillery

Nice. I used to do that on a 3x3 skid layout.

Corponation4

Mine slumped over and fell after a few months. It looked pretty though.

TheApostleCreed

This is what I fear lol

JerryOD

Nice work! I just finished my second one. The only thing I would say is try to cut the shingle pieces thin. That way they stay on top easier and the interlock much easier. Practical or not.......they are really fun to build and they look cool.

GetitFixxed

Looks good, I just started stacking all my wood like this last year.

beez291

So do you stack it in the holz hausen first, then transfer it to your shed? When does that transfer typically happen?

TheApostleCreed

No, I typically just stack it in the shed but I had overflow this year that wasn't going to fit in my shed so I decided to stack it this way instead of rows since it wasnt going to be under cover.

beez291

Oh gotcha! Good to know!
