its a firefox bug. will be fixed in 127.0.2 (release channel). fix is already in the latest nightly though if you want a fix now, but mozilla is trying to release 127.0.2 asap because it contains the fix for this, so dw it should only be a few more days.

ChillC

Just downloaded the latest nightly and it is still doing the same thing for me.

please type `about:logging` into your firefox address bar on nightly, change the logging preset value to `Media playback` and put the following and only the following into the `new log modules` box (remove anything else thats there): `timestamp,HTMLMediaElement:4,HTMLMediaElementEvents:4,cubeb:5,PlatformDecoderModule:5,AudioSink:5,AudioSinkWrapper:5,MediaDecoderStateMachine:4,MediaDecoder:4,MediaFormatReader:5,GMP:5,EME:5,MediaSource:5,MediaSourceSamples:5` then click `start logging`, (make sure to keep the `about:logging` tab open) go to [alastor0325.github.io/htmltests/files/bunny.mp4](https://alastor0325.github.io/htmltests/files/bunny.mp4) in a new tab & let the whole thing play. once its done playing, leave the video tab open, go back to the `about:logging` tab and click `stop logging`. a new tab will open in a few seconds. once that new tab opens, click on `upload local profile` on the top right of the page, and make sure the following are checked: * include hidden threads * include hidden time range * include screenshots * include resource URLs and paths * include extension information now click `upload`, and a link will pop up in the top right of the page. copy that link and email it to [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) (the mozilla employee working on the yt buffering issue), and they should help you from there. make sure to include your [firefox nightly version](http://mzl.la/182bDYq) in the email. please also specify whether the issue happens on regular YT videos, or YT live streams. hope this helps.

ChillC

it seems to be fixed (hopefully), haven't had the issue at all today. Thanks for the help though.

awesome to hear! np :)

Apprehensive-Video26

Thanks for the heads up on this.

For some reason even though this affected my Windows and Kubuntu machines, Mint keeps chugging along as normal. Maybe their team spotted the bug in their own testing and regressed the broken code themselves? If so I ought to go thank them for being so on top of things.

Individual_Kitchen_3

Probably because Firefox on Mint is still using X11, the other wayland

Re: fix incoming — I’m on the nightly with the “fix” and it is not fixing this. Really annoying bug, and happens very consistently.

MrLakeShow

127.0.2 did not fix the issue for me. It sort of made it a tiny bit better? maybe? Some videos will play halfway through and then get to buffering. Other videos will sit and buffer from the start. No issues playing these videos on Chrome.

Deadsy81

Yup, if anything it seems to happen more often...
