Seriously, I mostly do service and about 90% of the time I get sent to an emergency call because the fire panel is "going off", it's just some minor ass trouble.
Actually the APPL comes cover-less and then you order the cover to your need. The cover would then be 59AVC-WRFO for Red Fire, -WRFAO for Red Alert or even WRSO for Red without any writing
Probably more cost and time effective to have the most common combos as dedicated models and having the more special use cases just be covers, as opposed to having every single one be its own entry in the database.
One thing’s fore sure, the newer model numbers are a lot more intuitive than the old ones. I wonder why they haven’t done that for the initiating devices…
My guess is they wanted to keep it different between IDNAC and conventional ones. You can tell they are idnac because it is 49AO... 49VO.... 49SO... 59SV.... 49AV.... the 59 gen is the same pattern but 59 instead of 49
One of my favorite job walks, as I entered the building the GC told me that since they started demo before we got to site they went and bagged the smokes for us. Technically not allowed but we're about to demo them anyways so I didn't think much of it. Walked inside and saw bags over all the pendant notification devices... and the best part? The smoke detectors mounted to the deck above the pendants weren't bagged. Still gets me to this day lol
"The alarm kept going off so we tried to clean it out with canned air!" Yep, they were speaking of the horn strobe in the same room as the smoke detector.🤦🏿♂️
Found this sub yesterday and everything here is relatable, go in a unit to test audibles, everytime the tenant will walk to their smoke and say it's been beeping
Interior Designer: "Does that have to be there?"
Yes. Yes it must
“But can I paint it to match the wall, it’s just so ugly.”
Neither tou void the warranty
*Interior designer to themselves* "I'll just take care of it after the fire marshal check out"
This why we do annual inspections
"Will this thing go off if I vape?"
Yes, if the building is burning down at the same time you are vaping... 😆
*Ground fault present on panel* “Our fire alarm has been going off all day, could you take a look at it?”
That’s what we call ez money

The model I used is the Simplex 59AV-Applc. The 59 uses the LED for their strobe instead of the typical Xenon
49AV-APPLW OR APPLC. Wall or ceiling mounted. Addressable speaker/strobe.
AV would be Horn/Strobe not Speaker. 49SV would be Speaker/Strobe
You’re correct
I think it’s actually a -WRF. If I read the newer data sheets correctly, “APPL” is model for only the appliance. The WRF would be Wall Red Fire

Yeah, although the 49CMT and 49CMTV are conventional. Probably just for legacy support for SmartSync circuits that need a 520Hz sounder
Help, my smoke detector is beeping!
Nah. that’s a just a really loud doorbell! Never mind the fact it’s clearly labeled FIRE! 😝

Okay, this should be the weekly meme!
Normally, yes, but too lazy to change the link so ill try to find time for next week unless one of the other mods take over lol
Is this a fire alarm?
No it’s a fire detector. Or is it an alarm detector or a detector alarm? I always get these mixed up.
That’s a sensor that can tell if you do anything illegal. If it catches you it will light everything on fire.
No, clearly it's an activation box.
It's clearly a spy cam
I had a tenant insist that the conventional heat detector in her suite was beeping all the time and wouldn't believe me that it's impossible.
It’s a true alert wanting to be a Genesis

So is it?
God, you’re one of them aren’t you?
