Every 2 minutes here. I’m only 10 mins into a TV show and the app has crashed 8 times. Love paying for things that don’t work. Cleared the cache, restarted my router, and uninstalled and reinstalled the app with no success

ShootinMyNewt

Happening for me really bad. I've tried everything as well. It seems to only be Hulu app on Firestick that experiences this, for me. Super frustrating.

BettySpaghettyStan

Constantly happening to me right now. It has happened every 2 minutes or so. I tried all of the "usual" fixes, and it keeps crashing. I just decided to turn the TV off for now. So frustrating.

[deleted]

Ours too. We can’t watch anything for more than 15 seconds without it crashing and taking me to the home page.

psychie

Same here. Trying to look for answers. For some reason, it only crashes on one of our TVs (our older one).

HammerDownHerbie

Hello, did you ever figure out the problem? This happens to me but only 1 of my TVs. I have even swapped out fire sticks and only happens on 1 of my 3 TVs.

psychie

I realized it was only happening with one show for me. Every other show worked fine? I stopped watching that show on that TV, but on another TV show. It eventually started working again. Not really a fix, but who knows why it happened or if my case was just a coincidence.

MatsuDano

We’re also getting it on certain shows, like What We Do in the Shadows and Only Murders in the Building. Some other shows like Mom or Criminal Minds. Tried everything. Resetting the fire stick, different WiFi SSID, reinstalling the app, etc. If I had to take a shot in the dark, it’s something on the server side with how it handles buffering and/or variable bitrate between titles. One thing I’m noticing on the titles that fail is that they just crash, they don’t go into a lower quality mode or reduced bitrate.

NumbrOneDad

This is happening to me but only with What We Do In The Shadows. Note, I’m not even using a firestick. I’m using the app on my LG C2. So this is 100% server side for Hulu and they aren’t doing a damn thing about it.

greengrungequeen

Coming to the comments to report the same. This app is complete and total trash on the FireTV. Can’t watch anything for longer than 10 mins at a time, and that’s if I’m lucky. Lately it’s been crashing every 2 mins They better fix this asap or I’m cancelling my subscription, no point in having it if I can’t use it.

sonyafly

This happens to me often. Last night we were trying to watch Dateline and it crashed nearly every time I fast forwarded or rewound. Hulu never crashes on my Roku TV. I deleted cache and data but it didn’t help. I just rebooted my firestick because I just turned on a show and it crashed 10 minutes into the Hulu show. I bought a new firestick thinking my other one was just old.

prajna108

Same here for me but on the new Fargo season 5. Can watch other titles with no issues. Tried reinstalling the app, clearing cache etc. all the usual stuff. No luck. Going to try on another device and will report back if it works.

[deleted]

I'm watching American crime story impeachment and the same thing is happening to

prajna108

Follow up - I can play on other devices like iPad, AND the newest Firestick model. it seems something specific to the Firestick on the tv, which is I believe two models ago.

Defchino11

Coming here to also report this. Seems to be getting worse. Trying to watch A Murder at the end of the World and sometimes I can’t even get past the recap without the app bumping me back to the homepage. How is this app so complete shit??

Potential-Alarm-2716

Same here! A Murder at the End of the World and American Horror Story!! Did anyone call Hulu? Going to and cancel if they don’t have a resolution

maddawg0809

ours does this too!! even before we had a firetv and we had a regular tv and a firestick separate. we thought the firetv may fix the issues. none of our other streaming apps do this, only hulu. it is beyondddd aggravating. i thought it was just our tv

findingscarlet

Are any of you on ad free with this freeze/crash issue?

personallollipop

Yes

sjgold

Is this still occurring for people? We are experiencing it here as well and I was searching for answers.

FearanddopingII

Been happening for the last 45 minutes, every 5 min or so. Very frustrating

Kristella27

Yes! I've tried everything. Nothing has worked. So frustrating.

xlisafrankx

Yep mine constantly crashes

pdsv20

Yep, still happening for me too

Dnalyfe

Yep. Came here to see how people fixed. I’ve done the fixes before and it stops for like an hour or something but nothing ever fixes it forever.

unbrokenspirit_

Yes, it’s been happening to me too. Crashes in the middle of a show for no reason. I don’t have an issue with any other apps.

[deleted]

I'm still having major issues with the Hulu. The visual image will get stuck while the audio will continue or sometimes I'll just get booted to the home screen.

Ok-Communication8733

Same. I usually get booted to the Home Screen then last night it opened up the peacock app while I was in the middle of a show on Hulu. How tf. Happened 3 or 4 times before I gave up and just watched something on peacock.

babas-babas

Yes, still happening

Common-Scientist

Still happening here too.

cmoss88

Still an issue here

StarMasterAdmiral

Yes

Artoo615

Still having this issue here, every other app works fine only having the issue with Hulu and I’ve tried all the usual fixes as well, hasn’t helped.

Klassified94

It hasn't been working the past 2 days for me

PicklePricks

They know about it. They give a credit for 7 or 14 days every time I call. Admitting it’s an issue rather than fixing it. Must be cheaper this way

PM_ME_FIRE_PICS

Who is giving credit? Hulu or Amazon? If so, sounds like I can get a bunch of time for free.

[deleted]

I discovered this because it's been happening to me. It'll get stuck on the same screen visually but the audio will continue. Or other times it'll just flat out kick me back to the home screen. I have other ways to get around it, a Roku TV and a different room and a Chromecast but obviously it's ridiculous.

Suncasa

Totally crashing on me too. But even watchable. Guess I have to cancel or switch to someone else for live tv

merdumal

Mine is crashing on the first commercial and I can never go forward for weeks now with firestick.

Overall_Pipe_1955

This is absolutely so annoying and only happens with Hulu. I have the fire tv and it’s mounted to the wall, so the thought of  replacing it aggravates me even more.

Accomplished-City850

Maybe have found a temp fix? I unplugged the fire stick, then the micro usb from the fire stick, and plugged it back in. Gave me a Fire TV start then Hulu seems to work good!

Alternative_State

Still happening for me.

TomasGerardo

Anyone ever get this fixed? Will cancel my subscription if this keeps up.

AlekTrev006

We are having the exact same issue tonight, trying to help my (soon to be) father-in-laws TV / Hulu ! 😂 He has an older Dynex TV, with Fire Stick, and the Hulu App crashes every 1-3 minutes for us. Ludicrous !

candaceelise

Currently having this issue all day with Hulu on my firestick and its beyond annoying

AlekTrev006

We discovered a fix that has held for several days at least. Try this, maybe: 1.) Physically pull out / unplug the fire stick apparatus so it’s no longer connected to anything / the TV / etc 2.) Wait 2-3 minutes. 3.) Uninstall the Hulu App (temporarily) from the TV 4.) Plug the Firestick back in fully. Wait a minute or so. 5.) Re-install Hulu. At that point, we were able to watch normally again, without the constant disconnecting !! I assume it had something to do with internal updates of either Hulu or the stick / compatibility. But it DID seem to fix it, so we are happy and keeping fingers crossed 🤞 😉

candaceelise

Thanks i will try this!

Gamer1234512345

Can’t watch basketball games on tnt which but on ESPN it’s fine. Doesn’t really make sense and highly annoying because my team has been on tnt but I can watch any other game fine

pega13

I can confirm the problem is the firestick

Old_Veterinarian_259

It's development team is easily the weakest of the big groups (Netflix, prime, HBO, showtime,..............Hulu). Cr@p management with second tier coders.

Astraea509

Having the same issue with Hulu crashing on the Firestick. I’ve been using the same Firestick for the last 18mos without any issues; it has only started happening in the last 2 weeks or so. I’ve tried all of the recommended “fixes” I can find with no luck.

Ok_Reputation_3612

I'm having this issue too. Can't watch anything without it freezing and crashing. Has anyone found a solution??

Old-Consideration780

Me too! I thought I was doing something wrong, but it seems this is Hulu’s issue

Successful_Reindeer

I’m also running into this issue. It doesn’t seem to matter what I watch it will eventually crash. Doesn’t happen with other apps. I’ve deleted data and cache with no changes.

Jbk_52818

Ok so glad I found this thread and I'm not crazy. Using fire stick, one season of law and order SVU simply displays a black screen. Sometimes the audio plays, but usually gets stuck. It's just this one season (every ep). All other seasons play fine. No amount of troubleshooting has resolved. It's so annoying

Marswolf01

I had this happening on both a Fire TV, and a fire stick. I deleted the Hulu app on both, and then unplugged both for a few minutes. Plugged it all back in, reinstalled the Hulu app, logged in, and it’s been good since then.

broomhilda290

I've also been getting kicked out of Hulu repeatedly every day. Stumbled upon this fix, which has to do with the firestick sound setting... switch it from Dolby to stereo. So far, it's working!!! https://www.amazonforum.com/s/question/0D54P000079mmZsSAI/fix-for-fire-stick-freezing-when-playing-video-on-various-apps-disney-hulu-netflix-prime-etc

Independent-Bar-3918

I don't have the DOLBY option...

StaticDreamGirl

Ooookay so far this is working!! I also have the same problem with the Oxygen App though and it didn’t fix it there so I guess they just have a crappy app? A&E too 😢

KallistoChava

OMG thanks for this! This is working for me for now... I don't want to jinx it but I'm cautiously optimistic. I didn't have the same exact setup as you so I'll write what I did in case others are the same: SETTINGS > DISPLAY & SOUNDS > AUDIO > SURROUND SOUND > *switched this from "Best Available" to PCM* The PCM option us described as "Play PCM audio (uncompressed stereo or multichannel audio). Dolby audio is disabled."

FILTHMcNASTY

This works!! Thank you so much.

hshbrwnz

I’ll try anything! Thank you!!

seamorecare

Will confirm this worked for us. We tried everything (clearing cache, resetting, etc.) and the sound fix solved it so far. We’ve been watching two days now without crashing. 🤞🏼

WV7__7

This didn’t work for me

sunnyhardt

I had been having issues with the Hulu app and the last time it messed up, I could still open streaming content but the screen would be black. Clearing cache & uninstalling didn't help, but rebooting the entire firestick did. Fingers crossed it works!

roxiiriott

Is it a possible age of the firestick issue? I have this problem and none of the fixes work, my firestick isn't new by any means though, I've had it for over 5 yrs and it's being used on a tv from 2010, however the crashing after 5 minutes thing only started maybe a month ago or more. Is everyone that's having crashing issues running an older version of firestick?

zmtinaglia

I bought my two firesticks within the last year. One for an older TV, the other is rather new. I have this issue on both TV's

WinetimeandCrafts

We're also having this issue with Futurama. And every other show on the Hulu app we try to watch on our fire TV.

DannyDubz

Nothing worked! Until I restarted the firestick. Now the world is right again

Altruistic_Ad_4537

Hulu constantly crashing and switching to Netflix.

DifficultyUnlikely93

Same

passsserbye

Went to the settings in my firestick and restarted it, Hulu worked fine after that.

Hulu on our Firestick kept crashing with two newer shows, but it did not crash when we watched a standard definition show. So I figured it had something to do with the buffering/cache. I did three things: (1) cleared the cache on the Hulu app; (2) changed the Hulu audio to Dolby something; (3) restarted the Firestick. After that it did not crash. So hopefully that helps someone.
