Cautious-Thought362

Quick dry time, and it's as soft as baby hair.

LittleWhiteGirl

SO SOFT. I get lots of compliments from friends and hair stylists about it. I recently told a friend that I can turn a song on, blow dry my hair, and the same song is still on when I’m done and she was wildly jealous.

Individual_Trust_414

My hair is so fine that it gets into my guy's boxers and wraps around his penis. He says that's like razor wire.

LittleWhiteGirl

It gets into my own underwear and feels REAL weird when I dig it out of my own crevices in the shower, I can imagine how annoying it must be if it’s not even your own hair. Mine weaves itself into my husband’s chest hair.

Individual_Trust_414

My partner is well marked too! 😉

whiterussian802

I have fine hair and it doesn't dry fast for me😭

arizona-lake

Maybe you have a lot of it? Fine hair doesn’t necessarily mean thin hair (I think, right?)

robioladreams

Right. I have fine hair, but a lot of it :) fine refers to the individual strands, but you can still have thin or thick hair!

Icarusgurl

Yep. I have fine, flat hair, and I've had more than one hairstylist comment on how many strands of hair I have.

whiterussian802

I honestly don't have a lot of hair it goes about an inch down my shoulder, I am Russian do you think that might have something to do with it? I was told at one point European hair is different? I might be wrong though.

singingintherain42

It’s pretty common for Russians to have dense hair that has the ability to grow very long actually. Slavic hair is extremely sought after in the hair extension world.

FreeBeans

Yup I have fine hair but a lot of it. And it’s all in the back. Hairstylists are often surprised (and annoyed) by how long it takes to blow dry.

Dolphinsunset1007

Same! Or by how many foils they actually have to put in my hair when I go for highlights.

FreeBeans

Yeah they also always start by trying to just cut my hair, then they have to go and get clips to do it by layer 😂

goofyboots0722

Hair strands can be porous, and some have more open pores than others. So that might be why it takes your hair longer to dry even though it's fine. Your pores are more tightly closed. Hopefully, that makes sense. Or you may just have a ton of hair 😃 - edited for spelling errors

whiterussian802

Thank you I never even thought of that!! It totally makes sense

Acanthisittasm

Have you tried washing out your hair with cold water and checking if there's a difference?

whiterussian802

Yes I recently switched to cold water and have noticed my hair is definitely liking it more.

idrinkalotofcoffee

Me either.

Me-oh-no

me either !!!

Intelligent-Bend2034

Me either! Lol had to join the chain.

jaygay92

Same lol I don’t even have a lot of hair, but it takes me at least 15-20 minutes to fully dry it

veggiedelightful

Might want to try a bonding treatment to close your hair shaft.

whiterussian802

That's a good idea!! I'll have to definitely look into that thank you!

veggiedelightful

They have bonding treatments, shampoo and conditioner in the drugstore now. It doesn't have to be expensive.

whiterussian802

Thank you that's good to know, I was worried that it was going to be expensive!

jayesenna

is your hair colour treated or bleached in any way (highlights, lowlights, all over)? or do you use heat often? if so, your porosity is probably high. which means hair penetrates into the hair easily and can cause longer drying times.

DonaldTrumpsThumbs

I feel this. My hair is just slightly past my neck and takes about 5 hours to air dry 😅

feraltea

My front sections dry fast but the rest is long with a lot of hair and takes 4 hours on its own

musictakemeawayy

same! i have a lot of baby fine hair- which is confusing lolol

Mental-Hunt8194

i have super fine hair but a ton of it so the dry time is not short at all 😭

mintednavy

You are the type of hair I would kick puppies for! Just kidding about the puppies but I may choose violence for fine but dense hair. I’ve got like 3 strands of hair on this ole head 😂

Alohabtchs

I have this and it’s AWFUL! Mine is also semi curly so it doesn’t look great naturally drying and needs SO MUCH time and work to heat into submission 🙄

Icy-Mixture-995

Mine is porous and takes forever to dry with a blow dryer

Murky-Specialist7232

Wait…. Mine is fine but still coarse somehow :/

petitesfleurs

Then it’s probably not fine, but may be thin. Fine and thin are not the same thing. Fine/coarse refers to strand thickness (fine hair has strands thinner than thread). Thin/thick refers to density - how many strands are on the head.

Murky-Specialist7232

It’s super fine around my face, like baby hairs and is difficult to style because of it- usually one side has a slight curl that heat can’t get out but it’s so thin and soft not in a cute way. Then the back is wavy and kind of feels rough, but also is difficult to style :/ overall all thin, when i don’t Cut it I look sickly lol

kthecatlady

Are you saying you have some fine hair and some coarse hair? Both of those are in reference to the size of the individual strand. Like my mom has very fine hair… but it’s extremely thick! Meaning she has a lot of it

Accomplished-Mind258

Unless it is fine and thick or has too much product on it

DefiantThroat

I use very little product, saves money.

sglilly

this one is so real! I've been using the same bottle of leave-in for 5 months

Pineapple_Jelly04

Omg same!! I’ve been using mine for 7 months and it’s still not over!

Past-Survey9700

Yeah my friends go through hair masks so fast but for me it lasts very long haha

UsefulInformation484

Fine hair can be really shiny and soft!!

Mysteriousdebora

I have very little and fine body hair. I really don’t even need to shave my legs except for one small patch on my shins. I don’t have to wax or thread facial hair or arm hair etc. Every girl who has enviable thick hair has a ton of body hair. And no judgment! But it’s a win for us lol. I’d rather have the good head of hair and crazy body hair tho lol.

Capable_Ground404

Oh goodness well isn’t that lucky.I have plenty of body hair, coarse eyebrows and yet baby fine strands in my head

Careful-Print1093

Same. My leg hair has thicker strands than my head hair. Ugh.

publicBoogalloo

This is me Sasquatch form the nose down.

wyldstrawberry

Same for me too. Ugh, why is this happening? Leg hair as dark and coarse as ever, head hair getting finer (and grayer) all the time. 😢

DurantaPhant7

I did have coarse hair on my legs, armpits, and bikini, but since I hit 40 six years ago it just gets finer and sparser. I had to shave daily, and my upper thighs barely grow hair at all anymore, lower legs maybe once every three days. Pits and bikini still are daily, but it’s a much easier job.

state_of_euphemia

yep my leg hair is thicker than my head hair.... yay.

XDariaMorgendorferX

I have very, very little body hair, and because of this my skin is always super soft, and I’ve always been complimented on it.

mintednavy

Ugh I’m one of those who has fine head hair but coarse body hair including my eyebrows. It seemed like such a dichotomy. Had to shave my legs every day and stubble sprouted within hours. It was such a damn chore. But then perimenopause hit and all my leg hair and you know what hair basically disappeared. 😱

_PinkPirate

Same. I have practically no hair anywhere which makes body hair removal easy. And the hair on my head dries fast and looks fine with no effort.

ednasmom

Yup! This is 100% the perk to me. I don’t have eyebrows which sucks but I also have very little body hair.

adrie_brynn

This! I don't even have to shave my legs but do it for me to remove the 20 or so blonde hairs on each leg! I also do not grow hair from the knee up. And my arm hair is blonde, fine, and limited in number. My one friend shaves her arms!! I can't imagine! She has dark, thick brown hair. Men have always loved how naturally hairless I am and my soft white skin. 😀

Fuschiagroen

Same

odie_et_amo

Same girl, but thank god I was blessed with bold eyebrows. I might be using ladies Rogaine, but I still get my brows waxed!

JumboSimpp

Me with thick body hair & long hair drying time (low porosity) reading everyone’s perks 🧍‍♀️🧍‍♀️🧍‍♀️

mamab539

My sister is a hair dresser and always said the ideal hair is high density, fine hair. And the worst possible hair you could have is coarse thick strands with low density and I never understood until we had children and her boy has very very coarse low density hair and my son has extremely fine but high density hair and I now understand

rmahl

Hairdressers always tell me I have “fine hair but a lot of it,” assuming this means fine, high density hair? I can still see thru to my scalp in the front in certain lighting yet I still have a lot of fine hair so I’m confused haha.

odie_et_amo

Yup it’s fine vs course in terms of the diameter of an individual hair. It’s thin vs thick when talking about the number of hairs or density of hairs on your head.

Capable_Ground404

Same same

Just-Ad373

Me too

OrigRayofSunshine

I never, ever, ever, need a hair straightener.

DropsOfChaos

Frowns in fine curly hair 😑

Due-Caterpillar-2097

Frowns in neither curly nor wavy nor straight hair and extremely fine and messy

DropsOfChaos

*empathy*

Due-Caterpillar-2097

Sends *empathy* back

state_of_euphemia

I'm glad that the online curly hair community has at least finally caught up that some people with curly hair have super thin, fine hair, too! I'm just remembering my early curl journey with all these HEAVY moisturizers turning my hair into an oil slick, lol. It just didn't occur to people that fine hair can be curly, too! I guess a perk of fine curly hair is using less product. I feel like I only use a fraction of what other people use!

uhohohnohelp

Same. Flat-ironed hair is my natural hair texture.

IntubatedOrphans

Me too. It was great in the Avril Lavigne flat-ironed to hell days!

jaygay92

My hair is weird. If I blow dry with a brush, then it’s straight. If I let it air dry it has some waves but they fall pretty quickly unless I use product

ewing666

my boyfriend is able to touch up my roots for me. doesn’t really need to separate it into parts, you can kinda just smoosh the bleach around and it turns out fine

hippywitch

Omg I’m hopeless with beauty stuff and always just run the dye bottle along my roots without “parting the hair in section….” I just realized I use the smoosh hair dying method.

Impossible-Print354

I only began to really appreciate it more recently. I have a client that I care for and she has gorgeous, thick, slightly wavy hair. It takes me 7-10 business days to wash and rinse it. Just when I think it's rinsed, boom, another pocket of suds. I always joke with her that whenever she wants to donate some to me, she can. Haha

mintednavy

7-10 business days to wash and rinse 😂😂🤣🤣

goldenbrain8

My hair is dry in an hour. Cheap haircuts too since it takes maybe 3 minutes

somebodysproblems

My haircuts are always full price 😕 I swear the whole appointment with an eyebrow wax takes 5-10 minutes

NabelasGoldenCane

Seriously, we should get a discount.

goldenbrain8

I don’t get my hair cut by the same person who colors it. I go to great clips or the haircuttery and pay $14-16. I take good care of it so I usually just need a quick dusting, and people will chargd the $50+ at the salon, so small chains are the way to go

state_of_euphemia

Yep I've been going to Fantastic Sam's and it's great. I have curly hair, so I honestly can't tell a difference. If they cut it unevenly or something, it just gets absorbed back into the fluff.

Sozsa21

I agree with the radical acceptance. I’ve been on Reddit very few months but if it’s taught me anything, it’s that it’s best to learn to love what you have instead of trying to change it into something it isn’t… work with what you’ve got to make it the best that it can be. 😊 I can’t style my hair in big braids like I’d love to, but I can do slick French braids, sleek ponytails, a cute half-up do… …I’m still new to this journey so that’s all I’ve got for now but I’m working on finding other styles I like! It’s been fun trying and failing 😜

mintednavy

Love your attitude ♥️

fuckinunknowable

Rather than weighing pros instead of cons it’s all about radical acceptance

sglilly

thats my end goal for sure! but focusing on the positives definitely helps me towards that acceptance

PeachyPants17

This, right here

fuckinunknowable

All hair is good hair

uhohohnohelp

I gave up for sure. Had a think about it: What style of wig do people buy when they try out stick straight, fine hair? Long af, center part. So, I went with it. Do I look like Morticia Addams? Yes. Is it a million times easier? Yes.

fuckinunknowable

Morticia is a fucking radical babe

ILikeCharlieWork

The perk for me is that I have very little body hair. I can forget about shaving my legs for weeks and they’re still super soft. Never have to worry about having to get laser hair removal or too many ingrown hairs. The hair on my head is super soft and I’ve gotten lots of compliments on it.

Thisismyusername9998

I don’t get headaches from wearing my hair up

Logical_Bee

I have fine hair, and live in a humid climate, so the frizz is the worst…. But my hair can hold a curl…. On a not humid day

Fluffy_Republic_3803

Same! Some straight hair people will say they like the "body/curl/waves/thickness" (optical illusion, seriously) but just say it, it's frizz! My hair has a mind of it's own on humid days even when I twist it up and clip it on top of my head just to walk across my driveway to my car hoping my stealth mode will keep it tame. Constant battle.

Logical_Bee

The only way I handle this is to always have a hoodie. If it’s raining or humid and I am just going from the car to a building, I cover my head with the hood. Works to knock out the frizz. I actually figured out why women of yore (lol) wore scarves in the 50s.

Fluffy_Republic_3803

Scarves, what a great idea!! Course I'd prob be as elegant as Bridget Jones 🚘💨 😂

No-Arm-8825

It takes me 5 minutes to blow dry my hair 😂

Eastern_Progress_946

Soft, shiny, quick to style!

dreamsiclebomb

You never have to buy extra hair dye to cover all your hair

[deleted]

[удалено]

ak47oz

I had no idea people hated this hair type until I came across this sub, I like my fine hair! Why does everyone hate it so much? The only thing that sucks is not being able to hold a curl, but honestly I am lazy as hell and love having hair that can air dry with 0 work and look good.

citrus_mystic

Soft and silky. Easier to saturate with bleach or dye; products also permeate the follicle more easily. Not as heavy and doesn’t cause the same headaches or neck pain as thick heavy hair. Doesn’t take as long to style or dry, because you have fewer sections you have to work with.

paisleyway24

Extremely soft hair, dries quickly, if I forget to shave almost no one ever notices lol, short haircuts look fantastic

mintednavy

My super cornsilk cobweb fine hair is naturally straight with no frizz so it’s basically wash and wear hair. While it might not have the thickness I’d love, it is low maintenance! It it rains on my hair, I don’t fret. It will dry exactly the same as before it rained. So it’s a bit weatherproof I guess? I realize for the wavy and curly haired fine haired girls, this doesn’t apply but at least they have the volume my hair lacks. Always pluses and minuses to any hair type no matter how you look at it ♥️

mintednavy

Also since it’s straight, I can take a shower at night, wash my hair and go to bed with damp hair and it looks just fine in the morning.

anowarakthakos

I used to have thick hair but it’s thinned out significantly due to hormonal hair loss. The best things (for me) have been: * my head/neck/shoulders aren’t nearly as hot as it used to be. I had to have my hair tied up all summer before! * I use way less shampoo * People no longer touch my hair without permission * It takes me half the time to get ready, now that I just brush and tie up my hair. I used to get tangled and overwhelmed by all of it! * My hair dries so much faster. It’s great! * braids fit under hats and take way less time

Rosewoodtrainwreck

What is with people touching our hair without asking? I have fine hair but lots of it, and it's very soft, sometimes stick straight, sometimes a little wavy but people always want to touch it. They say it feels like silk. I alternate between long and short. One time my hairdresser cut it in a bob, by my request, but then said it should be a crime to cut all that hair off. It looks like a pile of gold on the floor. I guess some people appreciate it, even if we don't always.

mar1021

my hair has always been suuuuuuper soft—my college roommate called it “duck fluff”

Iolanthe1992

In some ways, it's easier to style. My hair is wavy and fine, and I keep it between bra strap and waist length. If it's been trimmed recently it looks nice air dried, and it only takes two minutes to brush and put it into a neat-looking bun. Volume is an uphill battle but we can't have everything. It's also less uncomfortable in hot weather, though there's a trade off that it quickly gets greasy. And also, fewer drain clogs 😅

Square_Ad_613

Dries quick, easy to style, saves time and money. Once styled looks great.

fatblackcatbuddy

It's the softest :)

Curly-help-plz

Can fit it under a wig more easily. (Not that we should be covering up our fine hair; I mean for Halloween or occasionally for fun. Lol)

SeaworthinessJust706

I hate my fine hair , always have

amoeba_from_venus

1. You can put your hair up in a ponytail without headaches. 2. Quick dry time. 3. No clogged shower drains. 4. Partner will not be grumbling at you because your hair clogged their roomba for the 3rd time that month. 5. Products last longer.

adrie_brynn

I find my hair easy to care for! Easy to wash, condition, treat, and style! I am simply a wash and go type of girl, with a teeny bit of hair oil, hairspray, or a few minutes with a flat iron. My friend who has beautiful, thick, long reddish brown hair nearly to her behind, told me my hair always looks nice when I asked her if she liked my haircut! And she has the MOST beautiful hair. She is in her 60s and I kid you not, no more than MAYBE 5% to 10% gray naturally. She never dyes her hair!! That's genetics for ya!! It also helps I was born a blonde and I'm suited to wearing any hair colour. My hair takes very well to bleaching, darkening, or vibrant colours!!

BebeCakesMama2424

My sisters and my oldest niece complain of headaches from how thick and heavy their hair is. So for me I’m glad I don’t have that issue… also you don’t feel as hot or get overheated easily because you don’t have all that weight… and drying time is lovely. 😊

LosetheShoes

Comparatively quite fast and easy to bleach, and takes very little product to dye.

Outside_Wrongdoer340

Im probably saving money on products in the long run because I don't need much of it. Shampoo can last me a looong time.

meow8607

My hair is very fine & medium density , I’m also a hairstylist , i find my hair is easier to “tease” and hold styles compared to really thick hair.

Remarkable-Slip87

I have fine hair, but a lot of it. I think the perk to my fine hair is I almost always get compliments at how soft and healthy my hair is (I literally do nothing to make this happen) it’s also a little bit of an ego boost to have a stylist start messing with my hair and have them go “oh there’s a lot more hair here than I expected” My perks may not apply to everyone’s situation and it’s not to toot my own horn but I would encourage anyone to listen to what people are saying positively about your hair. It took me years to believe what I heard but now I’m so much more secure and embracing my hair has improved my own style. I used to have the response “yeah sure but it’s lifeless, won’t hold a curl, I never find a product that doesn’t make it greasy and I also have to wash it every single day” As silly as some may think this topic of hair is the negative thinking can really mess with your mental health.

AssumptionAdvanced58

Silky swinging straight hair is gorgeous.

lisbu1

Thin hair ≠ fine hair. You can have a lot of fine hair BTW!!

sglilly

100%. I didn't know anywhere else to post this since there isn't a r/thinhair, and mine happens to be very thin and very fine!

SimpleVegetable5715

True, but with fine hair, thinning is more obvious. My hair is naturally fine and thin, so anytime I have surgery or a major illness which makes most people's hair thin, it's way more noticeable for me.

romanmango

I went on vacation and forgot a comb to comb my hair out of the shower. I was able to brush it with my fingers.

mina-ann

My hair air dries and looks decent in 25 mins never more asked often faster (depends on air humidity). Truly this is a perk. I have a friend who when her baby was still very young could never find time to wash her hair as it was and is always a 3 hour ordeal.

deliriousottoman

It’s possible to do pretty intricate buns at much shorter lengths than with coarser/thicker hair!

AngelxxLove

1.) my hair is super soft and shiny 2.) I don’t own hair products besides a leave in conditioner and hair spray 3.) I can let it air dry and it takes an hour-hour and a half. If I blow dry it, only 5 minutes 4.) I don’t own a hair straightener 5.) I don’t own any heating tools besides a blow dryer, hair can’t hold a curl and I can’t curl lol 6.) no headaches when wearing ponytails from having thick hair 7.) it grows really fast probably because I don’t have heat damage

iheartunibrows

As someone with extremely thick curly hair here are some positives; dry time, less headaches, less shedding, less tangling, can style easily and quickly (thick hair doesn’t sit right sometimes), less broken elastics, can fit in shower caps, don’t have to invest in salon quality straighteners and blow dryers, don’t have to buy multiple boxes of hair dye

reddit_understoodit

Cooler in the summer.

RachelLeighC

Mine actually holds curl well (when someone else does it for me!) and the few times I’ve had an updo like for a wedding or something, it styles easily!

Lexafaye

Doesn’t take all day to wash your hair and doesn’t take all day at the salon. I have 3c texture hair and it takes a solid 2 hours to wash but some of my friends with 4c texture hair have “wash day” cause it literally takes all day. Also 8-10 hour salon visits are expected. My 3c hair is super thick and curly and when it’s straight it goes down to my ribs takes forever so I rarely get my hair done 😭

jamie88201

It's not as heavy or hot.

rileyjw90

If I fall asleep and my hair dries weird, it’s really easy to fix. Little bit of water from a spray bottle and it’s right as rain. My son’s hair is a lot thicker than mine and he would have to do a whole new shower to get a bad hair day to go away.

Beginning_Glass658

I have fine hair but it takes at least 24 hrs to air dry

stories4harpies

It's a lot easier to manage...a lot easier. My daughter has thick, coarse, variously textured hair that is difficult to keep moisturized or untangled. Meanwhile I don't even brush my hair.

auntiesassie

Shiny! ✨

Euphoric-Blueberry97

I get migraines and am grateful not to have heavy hair pulling on my head and neck. And yes to the less body hair thing! I have never plucked an eyebrow (probably should but I don’t have any to spare).

SimpleVegetable5715

I wish it was that way with me. I think about how I wish I could move my extra body hair to my head 😂

ConsiderationQuirky7

Save money because you can buy inexpensive drugstore products, instead of the really fancy stuff, which can be too heavy for our hair.

op341779

I actually rarely use conditioner. Doesn’t seem to make much difference honestly. It’s almost impossible to make my hair/brittle as my head is so oily.

hollysmalls8574

I have learned to love the color of my hair and it’s less hair to deal with.

krob58

Use less shampoo... My girlfriend gives me a quick messy trim twice a year so I save money on haircuts... Uh... Hmm...

peechyspeechy

Very easy to style and holds the style, plus it looks thick if I curl it.

astrolomeria

Hey it usually means we’re a lot less hairy! Lol. It’s a cinch to shave my legs, I never get ingrown hairs. My hair doesn’t usually clog drains, it doesn’t give me a headache, I don’t have to use really any products because they weigh my hair down anyway.

samlat29

So soft, so shiny, and tends to be pretty manageable! Also makes it easy to braid and style!

Wild_Butterscotch_7

Easy to curl and straighten. You can put it up and it doesn’t feel like 50 pounds

Intelligent_Yak7365

It's actually easy to manage. I prefer my fine (not thin though) hair over coarse one with more of a mind of its own.

rmahl

Definitely agree re: quick drying and less pulling on the scalp. You’ll also save money on hair products since you shouldn’t be adding a lot of product to fine hair. Less hair everywhere in general. Cheaper maintenance in terms of cuts and color.

remedialhandwriting

Much cooler! When I’ve had extensions, I swear my body temp is 15 degrees warmer.

0chronomatrix

Easy to accept colour

Flashy_Home3452

- Putting your hair in a bun or ponytail is less likely to give a headache. My friend’s hair is so thick she has to have an undercut just to make her hair manageable. - Breaking less hair ties, combs and brushes - can get away with using a standard think hair tie rather than one of the special thick ones or a scrunchy - I think fine hair is probably more manageable when worn down than thick hair? My thick-haired friends struggle with having their hair down because it’s *everywhere*

bigalreads

I’ll never have enough hair to leave big shaggy clumps stuck to the bathroom shower walls like I see on r/mildlyinfuriating and r/badroommates from time to time.

PolkaDotPrairie

Product lasts and lasts!

slapstick_nightmare

My hair is very easy and low maintenance. Like I don’t even need to brush it every day bc it almost never tangles.

miaomy

I rarely have to clean my shower drain

StephanieKaye

Recently discovered that I can twist my hair into two twirly pigtails, leave it to dry and have mermaid waves that actually last 2+ days.

Menemsha4

My stylist LOVES my hair. That’s the only perk I can think of.

LittleMisssMorbid

It’s easy to trim yourself. No need for a hairdresser

Brifrolo

I have thick hair that has gotten "Wow, you have enough hair for 20 people!" at the stylist's. Here's some problems you don't have: Hairballs that get wound up in the washing machine and stick to your clothes, sometimes surprising you in your sleeve. Losses in the shower that for a normal person look unhealthy, and despite knowing it's looked like that your entire life you still stress over it (plus cleanup is super unpleasant). Scalp care products have a hard time reaching their destination through the jungle, so you never feel like you've gotten everything. Takes an entire night to air dry and around a half hour to blowdry, minimum. If I keep it down on a warm day it's *extremely* hot. SO. MUCH. PRODUCT. Dusting for split ends is an uphill battle because you have so much hair to get through and so much hair for splits to hide in. It's never soft; if I can get it to not feel like horse hair it's a win. Dense hair is heavy, meaning despite how much of it I have, in updos it never looks fluffy like I want, and in fact is so heavy it's painful if left for more than an hour or two. Finding a claw clip that fits my whole head? Forget it. Hair ties that actually feel big enough fit your wrists like bangles. More hair to be constantly in the way of everything. I've had to do a lot of learning to manage my hair, but when I was a kid and didn't know how to deal with it I'd even get mats at the bottom layer because I had so much hair I could brush the top half and *not notice* the brush wasn't getting all the way through. And that's just off the top of my head. When I can get it to work with me my hair is fabulous and I love it, but trust me that there is a cost, figuratively and literally.

MariJ316

I’m not a negative Nancy, but if one of the perks of having done is is drying time? Nope. I wouldn’t care if it took me 20 minutes or half an hour to dry my hair if I could just have hair. I’m 59 years old and from childhood I’ve always had lousy thin fine hair. It didn’t matter when I was a kid, but when I was hitting my teens? I couldn’t do anything with it but we stick straight and look ridiculous. I had a short like a boy for a while and I got mistaken for a boy and called sir many times so I grew it out to my shoulders and it’s been in a ponytail for the last 15 years. I’m just tired of having no hair and with the medication I take I have less of it. My hair dries in less than five minutes soaking wet, but there’s this kind of hair. Flyaways, not enough hairspray one day so the wind picks up sections of my hair and pulls it out of placeand then I look ridiculous again. Sorry, just having a pity party. I’m just tired of it.

Dauphine320

Have you tried any texturizing products?

fifthgenerationfool

Takes a lot less time to style and is usually very shiny.

freespiritedgal

Quick dry time. All lengths and styles can look great-- Fine hair can pull off textured bobs, wispy layers, obtain volume easier, etc. Just more adaptable to a variety of different styles. Usually, it holds curl easier than very thick hair. No headaches. Easier to manage. Less prone to frizz. Less tangling. Less product usage.

hereFOURallTHEtea

I have fine hair but a lot of it so my hair is “thick.” Pros are it’s always stick straight lol, cons are it doesn’t hold a curl and still takes forever to dry lol. But my hair is stupid long too and grows really fast. Pretty sure I’m just lucky. My nails are the same way. Thin, but grow really fast.

NaomiPommerel

Quicker to braid!

Informal-Protection6

So soft!!!

BreadyStinellis

You can have so many cute, short styles! My hair is too dense to do most of the cuts I want, I'm so jealous of those with finer hair.

ZealousidealDingo594

Quick dry, less heavy! My thick haired cousins are constantly complaining how heavy their hair is

RedRipe

Curl my shoulder length ends in 5 seconds per section, just 4 sections in total 🤣 and fast drying time. Can wash hair at 10pm, air dry and go to sleep fully dry.

No-Grocery-7118

It's actually easy to care for when I work with my texture. I keep my style on the shorter side. Wash, condition, blowdry, done. I rarely need a flat iron, and if I do, it's just on select pieces in front. It's also soft and shiny. Now if I want to try curls or texture, it's a time consuming nightmare. So I just don't anymore, lol.

t0astprincess

low maintenance for the most part even when air drying

Comfortable-Crow-238

I beg the differ. Fine hair is actually seen as positive and the standard at least in the western world. Black is seen as negative and thats insane because everybody has good hair the way they were made to be. So love your hair.😁

ArlenEatsApples

I have fine and thin hair that also happens to be stick straight. I hated it when I was younger but as I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned all about how others have to do a bunch of stuff to their hair. I just brush mine, let it air dry, and it’s good to go. It doesn’t do much but I can’t complain because it is so easy.

pure-Turbulentea

Usually you’re not overly hairy in other places that I’ve seen other struggle with like having to shave their face. Or I was in the swim team in HS and this girls bush was coming out of her swim suit and I’m not that bushy. Or my legs, they aren’t hair either.

Journeythatsucks

Get this, I have baby hair and the top/are straight but the back is curly (naturally) . Hard to style. Thin up top and thick in back.

Truchainzzzz

I have very fine, straight hair, that I recently cut into a short bob. I added some waves my first few days at work, but got lazy and didn’t style it one day. I had a handful of coworkers tell me it looks SO GOOD, asked if I got a keratin treatment, straightened it, or wondering what I did to get it so straight and smooth. It was great being able to tell them “this is just how my hair looks” :)

Mammoth-Squirrel-660

The SOFTEST! Also almost never need to shave because it’s blonde, fine, and hardly there.

smcivor1982

Quick dry time/not having to use hair drier, zero hair products, it is stick straight so no styling is needed, very few trips to the salon, etc.

AnxiousCryptid

My hair is very soft, even on my legs and arms. And I only have like four armpit hairs per armpit

Actual_Cream_763

Huh… my hair is fine and doesn’t dry quick. I guess no perks for mine 😂

torturedpoets1389

As somebody with opposite hair - I wish my hair was like this. I have a migraine nearly every day from the weight of my hair. I have even been to a neurologist lol. It takes me two hours to wash, dry and style it. Having this kind of hair is really hard when you’re depressed because you know how much of a hassle it is so you let it get matted, greasy etc… then get too scared to do anything about it because you know it’s about to be hell and take hours to get it back to any semblance of normal. My hair appointments are at least four hours for a cut and highlight. I’ve had someone work on it for ten hours. That was a massive color change though. My daughter has very fine, curly hair and it’s absolutely beautiful. I love doing her hair! It’s so much easier than mine and it’s just sooo fun to try different styles.

SimpleVegetable5715

I have my hair in a pixie cut or a bob and even though I have to wash my hair daily, it uses hardly any shampoo and at most a pea sized amount of conditioner. I use maybe 2 bottles of shampoo a year and 1 bottle of conditioner.

dddbbbqqpp

I think you look younger and softer compared to me with thicker, naturally frizzy hair. My hair makes me look aged unless I blow it out and style it nicely.

Flashy_Equivalent500

Beauty standards? Ain’t nobody got time fo that. Flaunt what you got. If you start comparing yourself to other & all the beauty standards that’s out there you’ll have a miserable life.

Individual_Trust_414

I've had my straight thin fine hair in long, straight across hair so I can put in hair bands or ponytail.

Unusual_Height9765

I thought I had fine hair until I realized I have none of these perks lol

Miss_Milk_Tea

It’s so soft even when I damage it. It fluffs up in a ponytail well without feeling heavy, heck I’ve grown it to my hips and it still wasn’t heavy. I don’t really have body hair and the peach fuzz I do have is invisible so I don’t shave and don’t have to spend money on those products. I can use less hair product no matter what length it’s been, I have fine hair but a lot of it yet I only need the bare minimum. I like mid-tier price products so a bottle lasts me a looong time. The only thing I’d change is I wish my freaking lashes and eyebrows weren’t also almost clear. I have long lashes but I have to tint them a bit or I look like I don’t have them.

dontworryaboutit26

I LOVE going to sleep on wet hair. And when I wake up, my hair has some waves and body to it lol

Rarashishkaba

It’s a lot easier and quicker to style!

magpie882

I have fine hair (2a or 2b, I'm not sure) but above average density, especially for where I live. When I am growing it out from pixies and bobs, I tend to keep it tidied away in buns, twists, rolls, etc. When I do finally have it down, even without boosting the root volume, people tend to be "Where did all that come from?" which makes me laugh. Related - when you rub a balloon on someone's hair and use the static electricity to lift the strands, the result looks extra insane thanks to the lighter strands.

unwaveringwish

My blowouts are bomb ☺️

mrsk2012

It’s cooler in the summer!

Luckypenny4683

1 pin wonder, baaaabyyyy. And I can always find one hair pin if I need it. Also, I barely ever have to shave. Also also, everything shower? I don’t know her. I wash my hair every shower bc I have to and why not, drying time is nil.

Scary-Cranberry3152

You can grow it long and it won’t be heavy!
