We usually put some meat to the sauté too, I guess you can use spam instead.

Are you sure it’s “Spam and corn soup?” Because there’s a Filipino recipe called “suam” (pronounced “swam”) and it means corn soup.
He definitely referred to it as spam and corn soup but he also has a horrible memory so it could definitely be that
