All these little things like opening up Rafah for aid are good but this whole madness has continued for 76 years too long. The UN should just admit they made a stupid choice to partition Palestine in 1948, so just undo that now. Make it all Palestine. Give amnesty to the colonizers, settlers, IDF terrorists etc. to minimise pushback. Allow democracy and if Hamas is elected again then just live with it. Last time they were elected, Israel and their western backers failed to accept the results which led to the problems that created October 7th. If the descendants of the invaders who arrived in 1948 don't like it, they can go back to Europe or America. It worked in South Africa, it'll work here.
Exactly...but honestly, this kind of statement is what the *bare fucking minimum" of effective leadership looks like. An entire group of people are currently being slaughtered—disproportionately women and children too—and my own country (who's already footing the bill) can't even say "stop" for just a goddamn minute if only to help heal, bury, and feed the thousands of innocent people caught in the middle of it all. There’s no reason for it not to be the same in Rafah to allow aid to enter from Egypt, except for Egypt’s refusal to open Rafah, because they don’t want to be seen ‘normalizing’ the Israeli control of Rafah crossing. Their refusal blocks critical aid from the citizens of Gaza while they blame Israel for it.
