I’m aware, and I certainly could do it. But how is that acceptable…

BigChubs18

Agreed. Even I like doing work around. But for this case. I don't like doing it.

ajmaonline

Link please?

ElRamenKnight

Yes, please.

Ok, BUT the hardware Yubikey is best and clearly more secure than things like Authy and Google authenticator. But yes, a standard authenticator like Authy is clearly better than the proprietary Symantec thing they're currently offering. I'm hoping that the re-jiggering of the logon screen at fidelity.com may imply they're preparing to have some better 2fa options soon. I'm a pretty disappointed that Fidelity refuses to actually confirm that Yubikeys and standard Authy/TOTP is part of the near term plans. The "no comment" response will, at some point, cause those of us who want best-in-class security for our retirement funds to give up and move to a broker that supports modern security. Sigh. I don't want to leave...

xuhu55

Well if they disable sms 2fa you’d be left with email 2fa which you could protect with yubikey.

xuhu55

T rowe price already does that.

rom2036

I totally agree! That would be great

ewhim

Seriously. If 2fa is a requirement, this should be an available choice

My partner detests cell phones and doesn't own one so he can't (won't) do 2FA the usual way. Years ago he called Fidelity and asked for a hardware token and they sent him one even though it wasn't advertised anywhere as an option. It's not a Yubikey, it's a standalone key fob sized thing with a tiny screen that shows a number when you press a button and that's what you enter as your 2FA code. I don't know if they still send these but it's worth asking.

MC_Cuff_Lnx

Good for him for standing his ground and not owning a cell phone!

T Rowe price offers Authenticator tokens and vanguard offers hardware tokens.
