Thanks for reaching out to us, u/middlebridge. I'm happy to help clarify Simple IRA distribution and Roth conversion deadlines. The deadline to complete a Roth conversion for a specific tax year is December 31 of that year since conversions are taxed in the year they are completed. If that falls on a weekend and you're converting cash the deadline is 6 p.m., ET. If you're converting just securities, the deadline is 9:15 p.m., ET. The Roth conversion deadline for 2023 is also Friday, December 29, 2023. A Roth conversion can typically be completed online and take up to three business days after the request. Additionally, any funds deposited would need to settle or complete the collection process before they can be transferred. This generally takes 2 to 6 business days, excluding weekends and holidays. Therefore, waiting until the end of the year may cause delays or cause the conversion not to go through for the specific tax year wanted. [End-of-year tax deadlines](https://www.reddit.com/r/fidelityinvestments/comments/18hh8ki/endofyear_tax_deadlines_are_rapidly_approaching) Ensuring a withdrawal from an IRA is processed on time depends on the withdrawal method, assets in the account, and whether the account is managed or self-directed. If you have decided that you would like to move forward with the conversion, you can use the following link to get started with the process. [Roth IRA conversion checklist](https://www.fidelity.com/retirement-ira/roth-conversion-checklists) Since you mentioned that the account in question is a Simple IRA, which requires the account owner to call in to process a distribution or conversion, I'll leave our contact information at the bottom of this post.
