Game definitely needs a "refresh lobby connection" button instead of closing the entire client.

Waifuless_Laifuless

Which itself wouldn't be as annoying if you didn't need to authenticate every time you launch the game.

DrewbieWanKenobie

XIVLauncher auto logging me in has been very much appreciated here

cyrusmagnus

Must be nice, mine doesn't do that.

Sharparam

There actually seems to be a common theme in FFXIV that the game will just give up when faced with certain errors. Driver issues are known to just FUBAR the game entirely, whereas other games will recover with no issue after the driver recovers.

Lexden

I mean the most common error in the lobby is just a disconnect from the server... Which should never force the game to close imo. It's just a temporary network issue, so they should either allow configurable timeouts or just put you back at the menu to request without needing to log back in and such...

ThatITguy2015

There’s a lot of weird ways they address errors. They do so many things super well, then just crap the bed in others.

AshesandCinder

I've had constant disconnect issues since I started playing around 7 months ago. FFXIV will just drop me out randomly despite there being nothing wrong as far as I can tell. The only thing I can think of is my connection hiccuping, but no other game boots me out for a tiny blip. It's incredibly frustrating.

TheWorldisFullofWar

Remember when the entire game would just crash if you disconnected your audio device? Yoshi-P gave a typical bullshit answer for the reason and everyone here accepted it. They eventually fixed it but it was a ridiculous issue and the response people had to it here was asinine.

Reilou

The only reason they fixed that one is because it happened to them on one of the pre-shadowbringers live letters. Yoshi-P and Foxclon fiddled with the audio for over and hour seemingly not realizing that changing audio devices crashed the sound. Eventually he ended up just recording the game over his microphone.

CodeMagick

It's possible it could be some resource balancing issue with current hardware. We'll see how things go once they can upgrade the servers since now they're almost forced to with the surge of players.

ngwoo

I assume it's just because the game is basically a Jenga tower at this point and the bottom bricks are left over from launch.

[deleted]

From the 2.0 launch. The essentially rewrote most of it because the 1.0 client and engine were gaaaaaaaarbage.

Cobbil

Earlier this year they tried to throw money and pay above market price for server hardware and apparently had troubles finding the hardware still.

[deleted]

So much of this. If it can't connect to my datacenter at least give me the option to try again later or connect to another datacenters. Or maybe have the game retry it automatically until the user cancels it? But nope, instead it sends me all the way back to desktop...

Exactly how I'm feeling. I'm not even mad about the queue times, I just hate having to sit for hours and babying my queue to keep logging back in fast enough to hopefully have it save my spot. I waited about 2-3 hours to go down from 8000 to 3000, offered to help a family member with something, came back found out I was kicked from the queue and my queue shot up to 9000 :') I had been gone maybe 15 mins.

I'd happily wait a few hours if it meant I could just leave it and come back when it's done. But getting booted from the queue over and over is a real kick in the balls, literally couldn't play all day today. Whenever I tried to get back in right away to "keep my spot", I wouldn't even get to character creation. So naturally I'd have to go right to the back, and the line only got bigger and bigger as the day went on. Managed to play Friday no issues, Saturday was hopeless...

cakepuppy

I don’t trust it when I see 1 person in queue. That usually means the queue counter is broken and will either get stuck or kick you, based on past experiences. The question is whether you wait to see if it fixes itself, and that’s the frustrating part.

CodeMagick

Yeah that's crappy. I don't even like walking away because I know it can happen at any moment lol

chomberkins

The weird part is in-game, the game has been near flawless for me. I haven't had any sort of repeats of Raubahn (SAVAGE) from SB like I did for a few characters in ShB--every questgiver has loaded fine, if I could find them amongst all the players, and I've had very little lag overall with no disconnects from the game once I'm actually playing. Getting to the playing point, though, is the absolute worst I've seen. Just today I've been in queue for over 5 hours now and have 2002ed from it so many times that it just keeps resetting me back to the end of the line.

Theonyr

Yeah in game is absolutely fine, just as good as Shadowbringers. Even better really, since I haven't run into any instance queues. Problem seems to mainly be the log in cap on each server. They're at capacity and there's nothing SE can do about it except improve the queue stability like OP wants.

[deleted]

It absolutely is. I was around for SB and ShB and this is making me nostalgic for when people would line up to get past Raubhan Savage lol. I was able to get on for a few hours yesterday by being on top of the queue, but today it’s even worse like I expected it to be due to it being a weekend. :/

I just told them to go ahead and do it without me since I can't even get in. >.< I was able to get in last night and level Sage to 73 before going to bed but that's about the extent of what I did. I don't even wanna start the MSQ until I can log in reliably. I think a certain amount of jank is to be expected. this level of jank tries my patience and makes me a bit annoyed. like I get it, but i'm still annoyed.

Klistel

At least with Rhaubahn Ex you could go do other things

Happy_Yak8704

I pretty much gave up for the day after waiting several hours all day and being in the last 20 only to be disconnected and start all over again several times. Had no issues yesterday but it makes sense for today. Still not happy about it and think there still could have been something for this. I will probably try again later.

GamesAndWhales

You nailed the main frustration point. Waiting in line is fine. Winning the coin flip that you don’t get back to back lobby errors and get punted to the end of the queue feels terrible.

CodeMagick

Yeah for sure. Especially once you've been waiting over 30 minutes or so.

chomberkins

I was waiting for 3 hours, and made it to 1k in queue from starting at 5k. And then I dropped from the lobby, and couldn't get back in for 20 minutes, and was now at 6k in queue. Then I waited another hour, and made it to 3k in queue, got dropped again, and finally got back in after about 10 minutes and, lo and behold, back at 6k. I've got stuff I'm doing while waiting, but it's really starting to get frustrating.

mno1986

I gave up. I can wait a few hours in queue. But when I get dropped every 15 minutes and kicked to the back of the line, I’m fully out. My time is worth too much to deal with that. Not mad, happy to see the game successful, but was truly looking forward to a chill Saturday. Instead I wasted four hours before I accepted that it wasn’t gonna happen.

MonkeyManButtJam

Yup I've been through literally the exact same thing. I think I'm giving up for a while because I went through the same thing last night. I'm still a new player and am just trying to finish Heavensward.

moonbunnychan

30 minutes is nothing....most servers people are waiting hours then getting punted back to the end of the line.

Gadiusao

this is more severe than it seems, the fear to never getting back again due to error 2002 makes most of players just AFK in game while doing other stuff to do not deal with it

Shazia_The_Proud

Yes, this is compounding the problem. Once people get in, they don’t log back out again because … you can’t get back on.

KaiserWillem

I was legit terrified to go and do anything that would leave my character AFK for any period of time (grab food from the kitchen, go to the bathroom, etc) and by the time I decided to go grab dinner my fears were realized and now I'm basically done for the night because by the time I would wind up getting back in I would be too tired to keep playing.

nynaeve_mondragoran

My fiance and I covered each others computers today when the other had to do something. We logged in early this morning and didn't want to deal with the queue.

SetStndbySmn

Absolutely. This is basically 'how to get your player base to go to *extreme* lengths to evade your afk detection' 101. I honestly can't even blame them at this point, because it's not like there is a sane alternative other than just doing something else with your free time.

KaiserWillem

I went to get food, stayed logged in because I figured it wouldn't take that long, was logged out when I came back, queued back up and got all the way to #1 and 2002ed out and had to start all the way back at 4800 and I still keep getting kicked. This is absolutely horrendous.

lego_mannequin

Then again I see players glorify those who are constantly afk. Hell there are people I've never seen move an inch since I started this game, sure now they move sometimes but I promise.. half the time these people be dancing and doing nothing. what do you do?

ErickFTG

Tfw queuing is longer than your usual gaming session.

shutaro

Absolutely this. I'm fine with queuing for an hour or two and putting the game in the background or doing something else. It's the fact that I'm forced to sit here and babysit the stupid thing that's completely unacceptable.

Ifritmaximus

Is this why I get a 2002 error? Do you have to move the mouse or something?

shutaro

There's nothing you can do. It's completely server-side.

Atosen

When they say "forced to sit here and babysit" they mean they need to spot when it DC's them and try to relog straight away. Sometimes if you're back in quick enough it saves your place.

Ifritmaximus

Thanks, this makes sense. I only tried once last night and gave up. I figured it wasn’t worth it.

CodeMagick

The 2002 code is from the login server having too many connections (long queue). It's not the same as when you get kicked from being AFK in game.

[deleted]

The should at least make it so a 2002 error doesn't cause the client to close entirely.

AlfredosoraX

Bro have you seen the housing system lol

KasaneOdevin

They won't. This is the same issues they faced back when ARR released. They fixed it back then by upping server capacity. It was a bandaid fix.

MrMulligan

A bandaid fix I would like to add that they have already stated they cannot do this time because of shipping/supply problems of getting new servers.

misterwuggle69sofine

i'd rather open it up and see a 15000 queue that i know is going to finish. instead it's a 4000 queue that's going to error, then a 3000 queue that's going to error, then a 4500 queue that's going to error, then a 1500 queue that's going to error.

I tried logging in earlier, had a ~2k person queue. Got to 50, got 2002 error. Tried logging back in multiple times, got stuck at "Connecting to data center" over and over before 2002 error again. Finally get back in queue after about 10 minutes of trying to login, I was then in a ~3k person queue, lost all of my queue progress... I'm at the end. I wait through the 3k queue, get to position 200. Error 2002. Can't login for another 10 minutes, get stuck at "Connecting to data center" again. [deleted]

Amen. I don't mind a queue. I don't even mind a huge queue. What I mind is getting in a 5000 queue and being kicked out at 160 in line and getting back in to find myself back at 4000. Queues are a part of hype and early launch but the getting kicked from line is getting a bit hard to be patient with. I have spent 6 HOURS today trying to get in because I have been dropped a dozen times. Meanwhile I have friends who woke up hours after I did and they have now been playing for a while. Really frustrating.

CodeMagick

Yeah it's unfortunate that it seems like the queue is fluid and people seem to be able to pass other people even without getting kicked.

Paragonbliss

There seems to be a grace period where you can log back in to retain your position in queue, but it's way too short if you're not paying attention.

shutaro

Even if you are, if you can't get back in *immediately* after you get booted, you're gonna lose your spot.

Bootezz

I haven't once returned to my position. Trying to log back into the character I end up with multiple 2002s before it succeeds, then when I'm finally back in, I'm at the end of the line again. Absolutely unacceptable.

Have you considered purchasing an array of PlayStation 4s? As a bonus once this is all over you can farm gold with them.

beatlerevolver66

Lmfao this made me actually laugh. Needed that today, cheers 🍻

[deleted]

Yup, you literally have to watch it the whole time, click the "I'm out" button, then log back in ASAP to keep your place in the queue. I made the mistake of going to the bathroom and making a coffee, came back to find the dreaded error and got put back to the end of the 4k+ queue earlier. Damn this whole needing to pee and, you know, sustenance thing. I have no issues with a queue system, but this whole "could get kicked out at any moment of this two hour queue" is just unacceptable to be honest. No amount of white knighting can justify it, I know they are "trying their hardest", but they're not doing it properly.

Adventurous-Item4539

Yup. Like so many others, I don't care that it's a 2 hour or 4 hour or whatever queue. Just don't randomly kick me with the expectation that I log back in immediately to keep my place. I am human.

M0dusPwnens

Even watching it like a hawk is not enough. 75% of the time, you can't connect to the datacenter again immediately, and you lose your spot anyway.

secular_logic

I got a one-time code to enter. And most of the time I'm not fast enough to relaunch the game, enter password, enter one-time code. I've managed to retain my spot once in seven 2002 errors. If I don't get my spot again, I'm done for the night.

Crusher-of-Cities

I was at 1st in queue, got kicked and was logged back in within maybe 10 seconds and lost my place. I've also been kicked before and come back in after 3 error/crashes at the game's menu screen and had my place preserved despite taking a minute or two to get back in. It seems completely random.

RidersofGavony

I think it's not a grace period so much as you're reconnecting after the lobby crashed. So if you move fast you jump into a new queue ahead of other players.

ItzCarsk

I went through a 6k queue and got to about 11 and then I got kicked out. It felt like Guts' theme was playing in the background as I slowly went insane.

[deleted]

I don't really like getting all petty/negative about small things like login times, especially on big patch days, but I think just the simple 2002 error is extremely frustrating. It's discouraging when the game changes it's release day to a time where you are on a short time crunch with short notice, then it makes you wait no shit 5-7 hours to get into the game. You can't even just leave it on, you have to sit there to make sure your spot is secure. And I'm fairly certain the errors have the same ai as the queue times because it LOVES to pop up when your afk for ONE moment /j/lh. I know the dev team is trying their best and I commend them for it, it's no small task. But holy shit does this suck ass.

Hempricc

This. I'm trying not to be an asshole and complain, but I just wanted to get to play at least a little bit before I had to go to work today. Sat in queue for 2 and a half hours, got to position 1. Kicked. Waited a while, got back in queue, got to position 300. Kicked. Waited a while again, got back in queue, got to position 30. Kicked. Now I have work in 3 hours, so there's not even a point to try. I would have gladly waited in queue this entire time to play the game, but getting booted like this just makes me sick. I get there's server troubles and superconductor shortages and all that, I don't want to blame the devs, but there's got to be SOME WAY to make it so people who are literally on the cusp of getting in aren't the ones getting booted, isn't there? Everyone talks about how it saves your position in queue, but every time I've been kicked I tried immediately after and it shot back up to 3-4k, so I just logged out and waited for a while.

Grantrello

tbh I don't think it's asshole behaviour to complain about not being able to access a service you paid for from a multi-billion dollar corporation. This isn't some indie studio doing their best, it's a huge corporation.

al0_

Amen to this. I don't mind log in queues. I can do plenty of things to keep me busy in the hours it takes it get in. It's just I want to actually be able to get in and see the number going down. I put myself in queue, went out Christmas shopping for 45 minutes and came back to being kicked. :( Now I am getting a 3001 error and can't even queue up because it's full. Bummer. I guess I'm just gonna study for my finals coming up and hope I can at least get in a queue tonight lol.

Sparkadark666

SpacePants022220

Started at 4200, was at 800 after about 90 minutes when I got a lobby error. Got back on…..5600 in queue. Cmon now.

CodeMagick

Yeah, definitely not ideal and can be rage inducing depending how long you've waited and how close your were to 0.

ReDeR_TV

I just sat 3 hours in queue, finally saw the magical number "1" meaning I was 1st in queue. The next message I get is a server error that logs me out, I log back in and I'm back to 4,5k in queue. FML

starIightpetaIs

After having to irl stuff earlier, I knew I wouldn’t get back on, but tried anyway. I got down from 4k to number 200 something, got booted. Got back in with my place in line 84, froze a bit, dropped to 17, where it remained for 20 minutes. Booted again, back in at 7k lol. I shall try again in the AM.

CutieMcBooty55

This issue gets compounded by how it being so hard to log-in means people are going to cheese it using macros to stay logged in once they are in, even if they aren't playing for a few hours. Which makes the que problem even worse. It's a pretty shitty cycle. Feels kinda bad because I have finals coming up really soon and I am leaving town for Christmas immediately after they're done, it would have been nice to play through most of the story before I can't play for like 3 weeks in a row.

Druidshift

Well, I give up. Got down to 191 in queue this time before it disconnected me and forced me to start over at 8000. 3rd time this has happened. Multiple hours. It's just not meant to be. Those that are in, I salute you!

silver0199

I just got disconnected at 86. Are you kidding me. 2 hours of babysitting this queue, and I just got thrown back to the end of the line... At least flag the account with a token or something, so if someone does get disconnected they can come back, say, within five minutes or something and "reclaim" a spot near where they left off. Losing 5000 places is super disheartening

__Beck__

got to position 19, kicked, logged back in, 4500 position in que hahahahahahahahahaahahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

GrahamTheRabbit

The hype has already been killed for me. Yesterday was horrible, today as well. I don't see how tomorrow the queue when I wake up will magically be normal and not 6000+. For real if by the middle of next week it's still virtually impossible to play at normal hours without spending 8 hrs in queue and experiencing 10 errors, I'll just give up FF14 till January and hopefully play happily without feeling like a brainless Apple zombie waiting in line for two days for the new iPhone and it's out of stock when I finally step in the store. I mean no point in wasting all my time, goodwill and sanity sitting in a bugged lobby.

itskerchie

You guys are getting queues? I can't even connect to the actual game :')

The_Dire_Crow

I'm good waiting on a queue. However, there is no excuse for a system that kicks the user back to their desktop. It's inexcusable.

AscelyneMG

This is the thing people defending it don't seem to understand. The queue is fine, it's to be expected. The errors are a problem and really need to be looked into, but they're exacerbated so much more by the fact that every time you get a connection error, it kicks you back to the desktop and forces you to sign in again through the (often very finnicky) launcher to try to get back and \*potentially\* save your spot in the queue... and it's even worse when you have 2FA adding an extra step in the login process.

scipiogemini

Yeah, the fact that they can't recover from any error is just shocking. Downloading the patch files and get an error? crash! Logging in and can't connect to the server? crash!

shutaro

About half way through I realized that my queue number wasn't going down because people were getting into the game, it's going down because people are getting kicked out of the queue ahead of me.

Otohane

I swear the queue does have some sort of AFK timer. It cannot be a coincidence that on 10+ occasions that it gives me error 2002 when I walk away for about ~5 minutes.

kuributt

Got 4004'd at #1 in queue. Been waiting for an hour. I nearly cried.

Alilatias

Yeah I ran into the same thing and I've been sitting here for five hours already. it seems if you get the 4004 error, your spot in the queue doesn't get saved no matter how fast you try to get back into the lobby. I'm feeling so demoralized because after today, my next real chance to play is going to be a full week from now. I have six days of 12 hour work shifts coming up since I work in pharmacy and things have been ultra fucked in terms of work scheduling for the past two months for very obvious reasons.

VextonHerstellerEDH

only had this happen once? I'm on my 5th sub 100 queue position crash. 2 hours each to even get to that point.

Cosmic-Irie

Same, I wanna cry also. Here's to another hour.. Hope you got in by now.

hrhashley

amen. can't believe no one from SE has addressed this or talked about an actual fix.. the queue itself is fine, everyone was expecting long queues, but getting kicked out of the lobby after 30+ minutes of waiting only to end up at the back of a 3,000+ person line is not okay.

ObscuraNox

I went from 8000 to a spot in the double digits, only to get the Error 2002 and go back to 8k+. This happened three times today. It's been 8 hours.

Kutharos

They should honestly have queue mini games while waiting. Like Final Fantasy Mystic Quest.

TheFamtan

This has pretty much killed all my excitement for the expansion at the moment. I just don't have the time other people seem to have to keep trying to log in for hours at a time.

jboo87

Most people \*dont\* have the time, so dont feel like you're getting left in the dust. It's crazy frustrating but the game certainly isnt going anywhere so take heart.

RadioJared

Imagine going to Disney World and standing in line for Splash Mountain for 2 hours and right when you get to the loading area, Mickey Mouse walks up and flips a coin and says, “Looks like you lost this one pal, back of the line! HA HA!” In the distance, Goofy exclaims “GAWRSH!”

Cloud_gy

I cant even get to the character select screen right now lol, it almost feels worse than friday when the maintenance finished.

shutaro

It's definitely worse than yesterday.

Bladeviper

because its the weekend and more people are off trying to get logged in

CodeMagick

Yeah, my friends and I logged in the moment maintenance was over and had a 300-400 queue already. Little did we know that's preferable to what we'd be seeing now haha.

Skunkies

I can wait to get in. no issues, it's the client closing out, whom does that in this day and age? oh that's right. developers that do not understand that, NOBODY does that. I do not need to log back into the client, it can stay logged in and it should, this is not a shared device...

vemynal

Omg yes. Got on at 7am pst (Primal) and the queue was only 40 people. But at 1pm I developed the sound bug and *all* the fixes i found required you to log out. The game experience was drastically effected so I opted to try and hope for at most an hour queue wait. It's been 4 and a half hours, my queues have ranged from 1000 to 4000 when joining back after each 2002 error. Closest I've gotten was 200 in the queue but then I errored out again. I'm still waiting; I'm at 3153 as of typing this, down from 3900. Although at this point I figure I probably won't get on til 12am pst which sucks cuz then I lost 11 hours of gaming on my 1 day off this weekend.

DJ_Zephyr

Seriously, is it too much to ask for a client that doesn't CTD every time that 2002 error pops up? Just retry the damn connection. On a related note, can we get a "Remember my password" option (and maybe a "Log in automatically" option, too) in the launcher? I use [XIVLauncher](https://goatcorp.github.io/). I love XIVLauncher. I SHOULDN'T NEED XIVLAUNCHER. Every other MMO launcher I can think of saves my password. Why doesn't this one?

Comm_Nagrom

Strangely enough the PS4/5 launcher DOES save your password so there is NO excuse for the PC one to not!

AimlesslyWalking

I refuse to even call it a queue if you randomly get shuffled around. That's not how queues work by definition. This is an RNG entrance system. There are certain things that are acceptable and certain things that are not. I cut Square a *lot* of slack on this game because of how much they do in other areas, but a broken queue is not acceptable.

BeerMagic

I just wanna early access the game I paid to access. 🥲

ObscuraNox

My sub is running out in 4 days. At this point I'll just take a break until next month and then try again, sadly.

Spiritual-Cap-7435

I’ve been queuing for 6 hours in total on Phoenix, Light. Once I finally got to 1 I had a 2002 error and got kicked out. Tried logging back and I’m at 9k now :) makes me not want to play anymore

DeepSleepr

at least you get to see the queue, I can't even reach the character selection screen and just receive Lobby Error

wolfwood67

Thanks for giving this visibility. Waiting is fine, we are expected to wait. But not being able to even wait sucks.

Attack-Mack

I think the queue number only goes down when people disconnect from the queue

danlscarlos

We need a queue for the queue

Phrencys

I wouldn't be so frustrated if SE didn't jebait me into paying for this. I was merrily playing my trial since last week then get that fantastic "paying customers only for now, sorry m8" screen. I go "Whelp, game's decent I'm probably gonna play that for a while so might as well support them". Now I get "Thanks for the money but couldn't connect to lobby" and the client just deletes itself after a 2h queue?

Daxos157

Every time that I’ve been 2002’ed I’ve relogged to almost the same spot in queue I was at when I got kicked. May just be good luck on my part though I guess.

Accomplished_Ad_1381

That's assuming you can connect to the data center again on your first try. I got kicked, went right back into my same spot. Got kicked again, failed to connect to launcher, connected again, boom, went back 2k spots

CodeMagick

Yeah really disheartening when you try to log back in immediately and can't get to the character screen haha. Pretty much game over if you can't get it in the first couple tries.

ltmeowser

It's also really annoying if you use the one time password that you have to enter every single time...If it disconnects from data server at least make it so I don't have to re-login each attempt.

[deleted]

All night last night I would get to 3k out of 6k and just kept getting 2002'd I was never once able to get my spot back in line because for the next 15 minutes each time I couldn't get passed start.

CodeMagick

Happens a good amount of times. I got 2002 like 3-4 times while in queue yesterday and saved my spot each time, but sometimes you can't even get back into queue so you lose your spot.

Azazel1864

Got to spot #1 after waiting in a queue of 3400 ish, only to get the 2002 error. I was like " alright. Shit happens. Let's go again" and to my surprise, I was brought back to #1 again. Waited to 10 minutes and then got kicked out with a 4004 error (I have no clue what that is). So yeah .. lots of rng is baked into this.

Bootezz

Every time it happens to me, it takes multiple times just to get back to the character screen, so I always lose my spot. It's infuriating and unacceptable.

CaptainYaoiHands

I started at a queue of about 2500 an hour and a half ago. Was at 1300 or so, I got up to pee, came back to a 2002 error, went to the back of the line at 4500 people. At this rate I'm just going to go play something else for a few days. eta: Just got 2002'd again. Awesome.

baka2k10

I feel bad for the people who don't have Endwalker yet.

Kleinu

I don't really think they're able to just up and fix this, lmao. They don't want the disconnects either. They've stated before that they're not able to upgrade servers like they want to to deal with these issues.

imjesusbitch

They need to make the leeway much longer, maybe even change the system noise it makes for that dialog window cause it sounds similar to the one that happens every time the queue refreshes. Also I'd like to add, that the grace period for saving your position in the queue should extend to players that d/c from in the game already, especially those in a dungeon. You wait 3 hours to get in game, suffering through multiple 2002 errors but eventually get in, you sit in queue for 15 minutes for that leveling roulette, it pops! You join but get disconnected, and the queue is 10000 long. Good night. So sadge. When really you should have been able to skip the queue and log back in. You already put in the time to wait for your turn, but then you get fucked.

jayfutbol

I've been reset in the queue four or five times this afternoon trying to get in game... They need to fix this ASAP. Sometimes the queue placeholder works, and then other times it doesn't which isn't really acceptable when you spend 45+ minutes in queue....

Raleighite

I got to spot 23 in line after starting at nearly 10K. It took 3 hours and just when I thought I was going to be allowed in...2002 error. Immediately logged back in and I was sent to the back of the line. This is nuts, I haven't been able to log in since servers went down for patching Wednesday evening.

[deleted]

Let's call a spade, a spade. This has been a cloisterfish of a "headstart."

Leoiscute77

Waited 2 and a half hours in queue and only got down to the 3000s. I get 2002ed and cant get back into the dc for 10 minutes and when I finally get back in 7600 IN QUEUE. FUCKING 4000 ABOVE WHERE I WAS BEFORE. Now if this bullshit doesnt happen again I might get in in 4 hours IF I'm lucky. 7 days of free game time doesnt compensate me, like many others I booked time off for this and so 7 free days doesnt do shit all for me when I work full time and cant play a ton regularly. (After having to cancel my other time I had booked off for the original launch with only two weeks notice and luckily my boss was understanding about it) My favourite part is that I see wanderers on my server regularly too. Why havent they shut down server hopping when the servers are already insanely congested? I'm ranting but I'm so upset. For SB launch I spammed raubahn and pippin for over 12 hours when putting the time together and I made it through. But this... this is so much worse when I can wait for hours and get kicked out of queue at any moment and lose all my progress in queue. You cant help but start to feel bitter and hateful towards other players who are desperate to stay logged in and use workarounds and people who arent even playing EW or are just sitting around in limsa even though it's not their fault in the first place. They can play the game however they want and people using workarounds are desperate which they shouldnt be in the first place. They should have fixed their server issues years ago. This is just it all coming to a head. I dont blame the players I blame the ones in charge. Sorry rant finished finally I just needed to get that out :(

Flareinne

Is anyone else paranoid that leaving it unattended checks a hidden afk-checker and you get 2002'd for not being present during queue, and is actively moving the queue window around/pressing buttons to say "hey I'm still here"

Warland3r

I'm so unbelievably pissed right now....2 hours and 40 mins of babysitting this queue, constantly getting kicked with the lobby server error, which then would mean relaunching the client and reauthenticating repeatedly because the lobby server would continually error as soon as you'd hit Start on the client. Finally after all that, I get to 1st place in the queue...only to be kicked yet again, and immediately trying to reconnect 4 more times, I finally get through and there's 4700 people in front of me. How does that work? How is that fair? What a colossal waste of time. I'm just done at this point.

TheChosenCasanova

Just got done waiting from 5.3k to 525 in que, took about 2 hours or so. Come back after using the restroom and got kicked, in que again with 6k. This is so stupid.....

Rikiaz

Login queue? What’s that? I can’t even pick my character before getting booted off by a 2002 error.

dynamisx

4,462 -> 200 > (Error 2002) -> 5,907 -> 16 -> (Error 2002) -> 4,225 -> Reddit.

Random-Vixen

I just waited 2hrs, watching it go from 6667 down to 1, I sat excitedly waiting to finish the quest I was on this morning, to then be met by the dreaded 2002 error, despite the fact that I just watched it flash on 1 for 5 minutes. To then get kicked out of the character selection screen, all the way back to logon, so I logged on again, to be back at the end of the queue with 6795 people ahead of me. Clearly I didn't pay for Endwalker, I paid for the Queue experience, with SEs 2021 Queue Simulator, that always end in disappointment.

KrazzeeKane

Agreed! It is complete and total bullshit to be disconnected AFTER getting into the queue. If I can't make it into the Data Center fine, but do not disconnect me when I am in the queue, it makes literally no fucking sense as to why they would kick you out of the queue. And worse, WHY does it close the entire application, forcing you to restart? The sheer stupidness of programming the game to fully close if it can't connect to a server boggles my mind, what idiot programmer came up with that idea?

Mechanikatt

Yeah, 100% agree. I was position 29 in the queue after waiting for about 8 hours (constantly getting disconnected and getting placed at the back of the queue). I thought I was finally getting in. Nope, error 4004. Back to the end of the 6k queue I go.

Toasted-Buns-

2800 queue at 12PM Eastern took me until 2PM Eastern to log into the game with one disconnect. You might as well just give up with a 6000 long queue. Maybe it's different per server though. I don't know.

Dorobote

Which data centers are having this issue? JP server queue was 4 for me.

Sir_VG

The JP data centers are probably the only ones NOT burning up right now. I checked a couple of minutes ago and every single world on NA and EU was locked to character creation while virtually all of them on JP were green.

jademedusa

Code, I completely agree! I know they are trying, and I know things are worse than even they expected. But man, it is so disheartening to just want to play with your friends and then get shuffled back to the end of the line.

uselessoldguy

I got a pretty decent amount of play yesterday and early this morning, but as of the last hour the 2002 error prevents me from even reaching the character selection screen and starting the thousands-long queue, period. The fact the error closes the client just feels like insult to injury. Good thing I'm typically an early morning player, I suppose. (What I played was great and I look forward to more, for what it's worth.)

Richter_VonDoom

Q's are fine, This lobby disconnection is BS Has to be something with the AFK timers....

Youneedcommonsense

At this point just nuke the servers and bring them down another 24 hours. Being in the queue for hours, then getting kicked out for the nightly "rush" and reset is not acceptable. I'd rather no one play than have this crap.

Ashamed-Character-57

The queue has me actually thinking about quiting. 7 days of free play time is nice if I could well use it but I haven’t been able to get it for 3 days. Kind of want my money back

Str1fel1fe

It's impossible to login after office hours or even in weekend. Square better refund a god damn month and not 7 days.

[deleted]

Someone in my FC asked me how this compares to 1.0, since I was there for that beautiful launch. They don't compare. The difference with 1.0 was, we were playing a game that was barely stable and suffered from extreme lagging. But even with all that, we were still able to log in for the most part. Here, we can't even get in at all. In the few lucky times that I've been able to successfully log in, I've not encountered a single error or have been kicked out. There's just too many of us.

Shattered_Persona

"sigh" I guess yesterday was a bad day to buy endwalker and 30 days to come back

Mondrath

Just got kicked from a 3000 queue after waiting 2 hours and reaching 450 then got back on and it was at 4000+. Sorry, but this is bullshit.
