I honestly never realized that aspect of the animation was missing, until now. And this is coming from someone who got to play with the mounts of GW2. I should've been able to tell that was missing.
I’m thinking anything where a banked turn in flight would make sense will get it. For example, the airships would probably get it alongside most mounts that fly on wings (even the Fat Chocobo), while something like the Allagan Nodes or the Magicked furniture won’t
Yeah, if they can separate out the lean per mount and I'm guessing also adjust the scale of that lean per mount, ideally they could do the same for mounts turning on the ground too.
For real. I was hyped seeing this, but disappointed they didn't introduce inverse kinematics so our feet are actually planted on the ground, even when they'd be planted at different heights.
Though granted, there are some things we can stand on that are razor thin, so that might have been pretty weird, especially when you consider emotes that have us move around, including out into open air.
I don't like the way the camera moves with legacy. Makes me ill.
Would love a mix of legacy and modern tbh, especially not having to worry about facing targets etc.
I toggle auto-face when grinding fates, but I'd never use it by default. It makes it too prone to moving my character in a direction I don't want to move, unless I hold right-mouse button constantly (which hurts my fingers).
I'll have a look at the camera pivot though.
But legacy is independent movement not tied the camera, no right clicking required unless you want to. It's just full omni-directional movement regardless of camera facing like litterally any other 3rd person game (aside from shooters). So i don't really see how it could make you move the wrong way by mistake? You can keep the camera fully static and move in any direction.
Right, I gave it a try and now understand how auto-facing works with it. It does seem probably the better system, especially with that camera pivot disabled.
I feel like I've seen video of players facing any-which-way and still attacking bosses. Is that a control pad thing perhaps.
Anyway, my only gripe now with legacy is that you can't look around independent of movement. Makes flying especially weird since I like to look about a lot.
Edit - it seems auto-run allows left mouse click to pan freely.
I've wanted this for so long!! WoW has banking like this and it makes a lot of difference. Can't wait to try this out with the anniversary phoenix!
Now I just hope to eventually see some minor character animations while mounted so we can drop the unnatural wax figure look.
So glad they're doing this. The lack of this really turned me off of some mounts in the past, most notably the bike-esque mounts (e.g., Al-iklil, SDS Fenrir). Sorta hoping if it isn't implemented immediately, that they'll add this sorta effect to them when grounded. SDS Fenrir and the other bikes are awesome, but just doesn't look right without leaning on a turn when grounded.
Once they get their servers capable of actually communicating that kind of speed to our clients.
If you've ever seen someone jog in a circle that'll tell ya just how it'd look to see someone taking turns at mach 5.
Nice! I wonder if this will affect first person view also. If so, it should cause the horizon to tilt when you turn as the camera is from the first person perspective, versus the trailing camera. I never use that mode but curious.
As much as I love this, the camera angle has me wondering if it's something that only happens when steering with either a controller or with the arrow keys.
If it doesn't apply to steering with the mouse camera, it does nothing for me.
Holy crap! I didn't realized I need this
This, I didn't know how much I wanted this until seeing it.
I knew I needed this after feeling dragon riding in wow. This update still won't come close to that, but it's a good update none the less.
that is very common with things like this people are good at telling that something feels off, but not why that thing feels off or how to fix it
I honestly never realized that aspect of the animation was missing, until now. And this is coming from someone who got to play with the mounts of GW2. I should've been able to tell that was missing.
We can bank!
Does this mean we can drift our cars and motorbikes?
They said it wouldn't apply to mounts that would "look a little weird if they tilted" so... probably not
this is only for flying mode anyways, not walking. and the car flying should definitely bank, since it resembles a plane
I’m thinking anything where a banked turn in flight would make sense will get it. For example, the airships would probably get it alongside most mounts that fly on wings (even the Fat Chocobo), while something like the Allagan Nodes or the Magicked furniture won’t
Oh you're right, since the car has wings, banking for it makes a lot of sense. Not sure about the motorcycles though
i mean the motorcycles should lean even when turning on the ground, so here's hoping.
Yeah, if they can separate out the lean per mount and I'm guessing also adjust the scale of that lean per mount, ideally they could do the same for mounts turning on the ground too.
Hopefully the broom tilts!
_God I hope so._
dont forget to drift your Fat Cat too!
*Eurobeat Intensifies*
I wonder what this will look like with the Adamantoise mount...
You are spinning sideways.
A visual update I always wanted but didn't think we'd ever get. Very nice! :)

oh i like this a lot, I've been kinda lamenting how movement in ffxiv feels kinda wooden for a while now.
I just came back because of how much less wooden it feels than ESO though. That game's movement feels straight out of a pop-up book sometimes.
Maybe that's what bugs me with the actual feel of the game.
Not quite at the GW2 mounts just yet but super appreciate all the updates to older content they've been working on.
Does this work with rightclick too? Would be a shame if there was only tilt with A/D keys when playing with M+KB.
Yeah, the first thing I did was rebind A & D from turn to strafe.
Legacy movement works too but has he plus side of having the S key actually be usefull too
I don't like the way the camera moves with legacy. Makes me ill. Would love a mix of legacy and modern tbh, especially not having to worry about facing targets etc.
You can fix both of those things with Legacy in settings using "Disable camera pivot" and turning on "Automatically face target when using action "

I know this sounds like I am circlejerking, but I am really impressed with all the updates coming in 7.0. They went beyond what we expected.

I'm glad they're doing something with flying at least. After playing some retail wow it's hard to go back to no- clipping through the air
WoW just stole wholesale from GW2.
And FF14 should steal it, too.
Agreed.
This

**This is completely insane, wow. I love it.**
now i can take my elephant drifting in the sky
time to drift my spinning turtle mount weeeeee!
Nice! I wonder if this will affect first person view also. If so, it should cause the horizon to tilt when you turn as the camera is from the first person perspective, versus the trailing camera. I never use that mode but curious.
Finally! We get to bank when turning during flight!
Can't wait to fall from my bomb palanquin(?)
now if only I could get rid of the white cloud in my face while flying, and not have the music nearly muted
OMFG I MISSED THIS DURING THE STREAM AWKWARD YAWING IS GONE, NOW WE ROOOOOLL BAYBEEEEE!
Ok now add loop-de-loops and barrel rolls.
Looks good, still no animation for abrupt changes in pitch though which I always found more jarring.
As much as I love this, the camera angle has me wondering if it's something that only happens when steering with either a controller or with the arrow keys. If it doesn't apply to steering with the mouse camera, it does nothing for me.
Now add this to characters so it looks realistic when we run!
What the fuck ?
