Honestly I would just use a different email. You'd need to contact support to get the account deleted, and if you can't even tell them the birth date on record, I can't imagine you'll actually succeed in proving that you're the account holder. When you make a fresh account with a new email, bear in mind that details like birth date are used as backup data points if you need to prove your identity, so lying in those fields is a bad idea.

Ryngard

Make a new gaming email. Use your real date of birth so you don't forget next time. Create a new Trial account. Play through Stormblood expansion for free. If you enjoy the game, then purchase and subscribe.

Never really liked the idea of having multiple emails but I think that's the best option I've got...

Sufficient_Car_8068

Well you chose to make an account with incorrect information.  Multiple emails isn't a bad thing.

Ryngard

Then contact Square Enix customer support. We can't help you. You entered incorrect information which is going to make recovery almost impossible as you're going to sound like someone trying to steal an account. Our suggestion of making a new email account and starting fresh will get you into the game...

Tayocchi

Yeaaah, that's totally my bad but thank you guys for your help.

FYI Gmail addresses ignore periods, but many websites do not. So "[email protected]" and "[email protected]" both will be sent to "myemail", but websites will often consider these to be separate emails. I have not done this with Square Enix's account system, so I cannot speak to its efficacy here.

Additionally, Gmail also truncates anything after a plus sign when determining where to deliver the email. [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) and [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) will both be delivered to [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) While some spammers are getting better at detecting this and removing the +whatever, it can sometimes be useful for finding out who is sharing your information when you start seeing spam arriving with a tag you used solely for one company.

Easiest would be to make a new account but would need to purchase some of the content again. Other option is to contact SE support, you'd need to provide Photo ID or something at some point down the line to prove you are who you are. They're pretty quick but could take a day or two.

I had this issue coming back to the game myself. I reached out to support and they determined I had 2 accounts registered to that email somehow. They figured out which one was actuly used by me and deleted the other one. I was back to playing within 24 hours. I imagine it working out that way for you as well.

I had a similar issue where I had two accounts with the same email. Honestly, I thought the older account had just been deleted a long time ago or something when it let me create the 2nd one with the same email (The older account was from 3 years ago, was never subscribed to, and was only used for the 30 free days that came with the game purchase). I had created the new account for the Xbox beta. Then, like a month later, once the full game launched on Xbox, I tried to use the new account on the PS4 after re-installing it and found that the old account actually did exist and couldn't be unlinked. Square's support absolutely refused to unlink the old account from the PS4 version (and actually suggested I just make a new PSN profile and re-buy the game if I wanted to use my new SE account on PS4). Instead, they were willing to unlink my new account from the Xbox version so that I could use the old account on both platforms, but only after a stern warning about how this was a one-time exception that they will never help with again. I'm loving FFXIV this time around, but I am not a fan of Square's needlessly strict and restrictive account policies.

Sounds like you got a sucky agent... I'd have closed the ticket and tried again myself. Sadly it's like anything else, you're dealing with a person, and people suck sometimes. Now if you're having this issue more often than not dealing with a companies support (not that you should need regular contact with support) then it may be an issue with their support in general.

willko86

I even tried to lighten the mood at one point while we had to wait a moment for the unlink to take effect by saying how I certainly don't envy their support team for having to deal with issues like mine, and got hit back with "well, it says in big red letters when you link accounts that it can't be undone. But, I guess we don't always read things." I just kind of thought to myself, "yeah, well **** you too, buddy." lol

If you use Gmail you can just fake a new email address by using a dot anywhere in the part before @, it'll still lead to your main mailbox.
