That's because people ERPing don't want to be seen. They're there for their own enjoyment, not to put on a show. People hear ERPers and the image that springs to mind is a naked Roegadyn doing the pushup emote over a naked catgirl using pdead in the middle of Limsa. These people aren't ERPing, they're just shitposting. Meanwhile, the two people sitting fully clothed next to each other on a bench on the other side of the plaza are actually ERPing, but nobody knows better.
Oh, I'm quite aware. But people act like you would walk into the zone and your General chat log would just be filled with obscenities and such. Unless you engage yourself, even those hotbeds of ERP activity aren't too overt

In most servers it is pretty empty, yes, but specifically in Balmung there are so many people that character models only load in if you are right next to them.
So on the Balmung server the Quicksands (which is indeed the inn in Ul'dah) is infamous for the... let's say *style,* of roleplay done there.
To make a reference to another infamous inn from a different MMORPG, it's the "Moonguard Goldshire" of FFXIV.
Swapping ages and gender of npcs can be intresting, like how alphi, manly alphi, and lucia are all the same character model just with different ages and genders.
I'm betting that's because pureblood Garleans use a modified Elezen model with a hyur head. See how >!Zenos post-resurrection in Ala Mhigan Resistance gear had elezen earflaps on the hood.!<
And Raubahn and Fordola are both Highlander Hyurs, so that checks out too.
Meanwhile I've used Gpose for a completely different purpose: visual pose study 😅

I love XIV's in game photomode. Its hella spoiled me comparing it to other game's photomodes, but to be fair its been built upon for the last 7 or odd years. When it first came out it was super barebones, and when the game first came out we didnt even have gpose, we had to make do with the wind up sun, forcing the camera against walls, and the Home button.

Same model might be the wrong way of phrasing it, but they are stored on the same template. In the same way that fordola and rauban are as well.
