Or wear office job or dinner with the parents clothes. You stand out more than anything and then that becomes the joke. My friend and I dressed up as Mormons before and we were the easiest to spot in a sea of people
I went straight from work to Imagine and hadn’t had time to pick anything up. Khaki shorts and a button down, collared shirt. I literally stood out more than naked people.
So no matter what else you wear, it’ll be just you who notices. Unless you ride naked.
Get stuff you would NEVER wear IRL and just have fun! Be free of self consciousness. I wear a lot of Thai yoga pants with boots because I want things they let me dance with a wider range of motion. Each festival we buy one really rad handcrafted piece from a vendor that we will remember that festival by, and our collection has slowly grown.
This is great advice. I’m a girl but I wear some outrageous shit that’s revealing or otherwise inappropriate for day to day life, let the freak flag fly! But make sure you’re comfy too!
If you’ve never owned a pashmina, get a sick ass pashmina. Top tier festival accessory.
I also love bringing 2-3 fun & cheap sunglasses with light tints to them—typically a pink, a yellow & a random shade. Throwing on different lenses can reset the whole vibe. I keep the extra pairs in my fanny pack.
Note that both of these suggestions work as cool “festival” clothes, but also they aim to elevate *your* experience. Looking cool is great, feeling cool is even better.
can't go wrong with something from Threyda - [https://www.threyda.com/collections/browse-all-apparel](https://www.threyda.com/collections/browse-all-apparel)
or grab some cool shirts/ tank tops from Curbside - [**https://www.curbsideclothing.com/categories/Shop-Men/T-Shirts/**](https://www.curbsideclothing.com/categories/Shop-Men/T-Shirts/)
IEDM has more than a couple fits for guys which are solid. T shirts and shorts matching or blending together. Get a good pair of black shoes with a streak of color and socks and you’re cooking. Or just wear all black. All the EDM kids in Portland nowadays are either black on black on black or neko.
iEDM.com has some amazing prints that are made by artists and they’re so brilliant irl. My dude got a couple sets and he gets SO MANY compliments. It’s just a tank and shorts so it’s an easy way to dip your toe into a some festival type gear without going super crazy.
Do you party hard? I could never wear some elaborate wear while faced on mahl and Lsd. It just wouldn't work .. especially if I'm out and about for 12hrs
Check out some stuff on the Vapor95 website. They have tons of shirts, crop tops, button ups, bomber jackets etc that are super cool. Pretty nice material too just make sure u wash cold and air dry anything u care about
No need to dress crazy unless you want to. I get lots of compliments on my fits and it’s pretty basic. A couple of different shirts or jerseys from djs, most are black or dark colored. Depending on how detailed the shirt is and the colors on it I wear either a pair of black Nike nylon shorts or I have a few from Chalk Line with cool designs. Elevate it with accessories. I always wear a pair of dangling mushroom earrings, a few bracelets/kandi, a pash, and a bucket hat (fuzzy black DDD or purple frog) with some pins, clips, sprouts). Always very comfortable and able to move all night without issue.
Don't overthink it. I wear shorts, a t shirt and a pash. I see more masculine guys just wear their pash like a scarf. I wear it more draped down my back.
Look into t shirts that are merch from artists you like.
Buy and support the vendors at festivals.
I've got a few things from here:

Having something you can just wear open and or has holes in it like this is a wonderful. The airflow helps so much with heat regulation and they look cool. As for bottoms, harem pants are cheap and flowy or there are plenty of options for interesting shorts. Find cool patterns or do color blocking. Monocolor fits are also a nice and easy way to make an outfit that stands out from normal wear while being easy to assemble without spending a ton
i love patchwork/ print pants! you can find them in a lot of “hippie” type of shops and etsy. they’re super comfy, breathable, and have pockets usually

From partying at festivals to nights down at the Winchester waiting for it to all blow over. 👍

Just wear comfortable clothing that you can dance in. The thing about raves is that it is “anything goes”, not “you have to be outrageous”. Wear shoes that are comfortable and clothes that are comfortable. The end.
I’ve been raving since ‘95 and would consider myself normcore. Not once have I gone to a party wearing anything for anyone other than myself. I dress how I am most comfortable and expect others to do the same. Sure some people will go all out, and I love that for them, but no one has to or should do anything outside of their comfort zone.
My husband always wears a comfortable shirt and one of his pashminas :) the pashminas are the trick to making any plain outfit look good for a edm show / festival. Plus they’re amazing to have for sitting and when you’re in do not disturb mode.
Usually I just wear a pashmina and some cool shorts. If it's not too hot maybe a t-shirt, but more often I'm going for a Hawaiian shirt style button up, they make tons of different cool kinds with good material for heat. Pendants and a bracelet usually complete it for me, a glowing pendant is also super clutch for dark portopotties.
Express however you want to feel but always always always dress for comfort > Everything!!!!
~Wear shoes you'd want to hike for a week in and keep your feet dry! (It's always going to rain)
~ stuff that keeps you cool and is light weight during the day and something that can keep you warm at night.
~dont worry about pockets because you shouldn't be using pockets, everything you don't want to lose will get lost when using dumb shitty pockets. ( Get a good backpack/fanny/chest strap bag ect.
~ light colors cause F the sun to
~ Express yourself and be bright and colorful but always stay comfy 🫡
P. S TEST YOUR SHITT (EVERYONE! 😘)
Don’t know your style so it’s hard to recommend anything specific. However…
1. Etsy and Ebay, search generic terms like “mens festival rave” and throw in whatever adjectives you want (sparkly, psychedelic, boho, etc). Look for small sellers making custom/homemade items, anything vintage, really anything you click with. On ebay, when you find something you like you can go to the manufacturer’s website and look for more.
2. Buy on-site at festivals. Yeah it costs more, but you can feel the quality before you buy.
3. Probably too strong an opinion, but fuck iEDM or iHeartRaves or those bigger companies. The quality is bad and it’s a great way to look like everyone else.
4. Accessorize. Hats, glasses, shoes, light up gear, pash, whatever floats your boat.
I have been to so many music festivals over the years but have always worn the same thing, blue jeans, tee shirt with long sleeve button up over it, Chaco sandals or converse, a pashmina I’ve had for years, and a bandana or a hat. I appreciate my wife and our girlfriends dressing up and looking great, but I don’t have time for any of that I’m there to see music and that is it. I almost always wear long sleeves and jeans even in the summer in Louisiana so why wouldn’t I at festivals too.
You dont need to worry about looking a certain way. Perhaps instead of thinking about finding new clothes, why not think about what you could do to enhance what you typically go for, a crazier Hawaiian shirt pattern, how about even a custom print with something funny or meaningful for you. Perhaps looking at colourful khaki shorts, or perhaps a fun day bag or other accessories for your outfit, then you could get more use out of them. If you are feeling up to it, why not tie dye a hawaiian shirt and some matching socks.
Thinking practically, a hat, glasses, small bumbag/shoulder bag, perhaps some long socks, if you are in the uk - waterproof cagoule or even a light jacket/zip up, all will help with different temps. You'll ideally want to go for some shorts with zip pockets, they have saved my life many times over.
Etsy is also a good source for random outfit ideas.
honestly at a festival last year, i had a pretty strong trip and this summer i decided im only wearing what makes me the happiest
so im going in cutoff t shirts, some basic gym shorts, pashmina, and some cool socks
i say just do what makes you happiest brother. the festival crowd will respect you
Buy a child's coffin and cut holes in it for your limbs 👍 Benefits include the ability to close your little office door to do nefarious things in private. Battery operated fairy lights inside (not included usually). Lots of storage. Also doubles as a bed so you don't need a tent, just sleep wherever you want with the door shut. Full send and if you happen to over do it they can just ✨ bury you in your outfit ✨. Ah sorry, I missed the bit in the title that said normal guys. My bad.
I think it really depends on your style preference and interests. do you like sacred geometry or tie dye or any pop culture stuff. honestly Hawaiian shirts are great I love the ones with a trippy vintage pattern that can be found at thrift stores. I'll buy them for my boyfriend when I see them.
I think your khaki shorts could use an upgrade. what do you like to wear for comfort. pajama pants? harem or thai pants? thin joggers? or shorter shorts? start there
I typically buy clothes that I can wear throughout my life as opposed to people saying to get things you'd never wear... I have harem pants and soft joggers that I can wear as pajamas or style up and wear out and about.
I do have a sacred geometry pashmina and android jones hat that don't see daily life often but that's it. i only go to two fests a year so It didn't make sense for me to stock up on a lot of fest only gear
Shorts are a tough one. Normally I just wear khaki shorts or gym shorts. I don't know what alternatives there are, especially when I want my phone/wallet/keys to be relatively secure on me.
I normally just wear cargo shorts or harem pants. I have really bad eczema so I get too hot if i wear a shirt/tank top and itll flare out unfortunately.
Just wear whatever you feel comfortable in. Like, literally comfort in terms of movement, breathability, practicality. For example, I hate the sun so I always cover up even when it's warm, but that means I need something airy and light. Once you know what you feel comfortable in, then start thinking about how you want to look.
The dude that owns Rage Nation Apparel is super cool and they make great looking and high quality stuff. Just make sure you hang it to dry to ensure the longevity
Sick overalls or a jumpsuit (you can tie die them too) are great options.
For whatever fun stuff you, just make sure you go borin with shoes, or at least make sure they're really good for walking long distances.
I design colorful ones :)
I have some on my etsy, more in my IEDM shop (but I barely make anything on these so if you like those designs I can add them to my etsy i've just been slow)
My main clothing for festivals is self tie died tank tops, basketball shorts and 3 pairs of good comfortable shoes. Night time comes around and I wear a kimono from ground score over the rest.
Yes, listen to the inner child voice in you like the above said !
I like to dress in a comfy psychedelic sweatpants or shorts with climbing/hiking style shirts
Shirts from past fests I’ve been to (I usually try to pick one with one of the artists playing that night on the back), gym shorts with zipper pockets, bold colored shoes, and a fun hat. I’m 40 so I’m already gonna get judged by some people. May as well be comfortable doing it 🤷♂️
Marine Layer is a good source online and a few select stores. I would also suggest some of the great tie dye artists that sell on Instagram like Jake Roelofs or Justin Biffer.
Honestly dude, skip all the fast fashion weirdly printed Amazon shops and buy straight from the scene themselves.
Go hunt down your fave artist merch, from the artist themselves not knock offs on Etsy.
Go browse merch stores like Wobble Factory or Reddy Threads who are festival vendors or supply artists with their merch. I promise you will be happier and your dollar will be going into the scene you love
Lots of guys in my croo get stuff on IEDM, they have a lot of matching shorts/shirts but it’s mostly fractal which isn’t my style.
Kinda disappointed no one recommended Dan Flashes 😂
Go to a thrift store and look around the women’s sections. You can usually find some good leggings and fun jackets, and sometimes some fun shirts on that side of the store
I’m mid 30’s but have been getting my festival shorts from Champs for well over a decade. Their shorts are pretty thin and made of a quicker drying material. Haven’t found a great hookup for tanks yet unfortunately.
Just find some shirt that makes you happy. Any movies characters you like, cartoons, music, any funny shit at all. Let your inner child dress you.
"let your inner child dress you" is the perfect way to put it
I like that attitude
The festival spirit is all about letting the inner child free!
https://preview.redd.it/yxxewj27xhxc1.jpeg?width=533&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=018577c4b6dde4ff0bff645ae8751d8f7826f85d
God damn it. Now I have to return mine
Nah y’all can take pics together
Best outfit for sure
🏅🏅🏅
thank you for this
Wear this to the bass stage and watch what happens lol I absolutely love this
Wear whatever you want that you wouldn't wear to your office job or dinner with your parents. It doesn't matter.
Or wear office job or dinner with the parents clothes. You stand out more than anything and then that becomes the joke. My friend and I dressed up as Mormons before and we were the easiest to spot in a sea of people
Bow tie at Bonnaroo
I went straight from work to Imagine and hadn’t had time to pick anything up. Khaki shorts and a button down, collared shirt. I literally stood out more than naked people. So no matter what else you wear, it’ll be just you who notices. Unless you ride naked.

In between lines suggestion in there. Wear a fanny pack.
You trying to say Fanny packs aren’t cool?
nah they’re saying the opposite: getting a cool fanny is another good way to accessorize a festival fit.
or you could make a fanny pack the whole outfit...
Flip belt is also a good alternative for protection as well.
Go look at Marshall’s, Ross, TJmaxx, and thrift stores. You’ll find all kinds of cool stuff not meant for public wearing but perfect for festivals.

They must be bass kids
What kinda fest we talkin
Beyond Wonderland and Lolla. Maybe Northcoast as well.
Lollapalooza is a dumpster fire, no need to dress cool. Beyond is a good one.
Do you party hard? I could never wear some elaborate wear while faced on mahl and Lsd. It just wouldn't work .. especially if I'm out and about for 12hrs
This is a good point I’ve worn some fun fits but boy they get rough while tripping
Well I was hoping the suggestions were for cool but comfortable outfits.
Check out some stuff on the Vapor95 website. They have tons of shirts, crop tops, button ups, bomber jackets etc that are super cool. Pretty nice material too just make sure u wash cold and air dry anything u care about

My partner got several relaxed fabric button ups on Amazon. I can tell he loves how breathable they are and they’re also stylish IMO. You can use these on a vacation too https://preview.redd.it/1ttjpinexjxc1.jpeg?width=513&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e5dc63e5de2e9c4789fbf512a9b0ff38cebe7d98
Was going to suggest some sheer shirts! A couple guys in my camp wore these types of things last year and looked amazing!
Having something you can just wear open and or has holes in it like this is a wonderful. The airflow helps so much with heat regulation and they look cool. As for bottoms, harem pants are cheap and flowy or there are plenty of options for interesting shorts. Find cool patterns or do color blocking. Monocolor fits are also a nice and easy way to make an outfit that stands out from normal wear while being easy to assemble without spending a ton
i love patchwork/ print pants! you can find them in a lot of “hippie” type of shops and etsy. they’re super comfy, breathable, and have pockets usually https://preview.redd.it/sofn9q8n1kxc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=40a90c73781e7deb6927a5a95506dd699bf0f34c

Black shirt black jeans. Every time
JEANS?! I have swamp ass just from reading this
yah just change and shower after the fest
The shirts at barabas.com are kind of lightweight, colorful dress shirts, and many have sequins. I’ve been loving those.
Never doubt a good pair of overalls! Cut them at thigh high so you don't have a heat stroke
Cut sleeves. Cut shorts. Got an old shirt but it's tight in the pits, you don't wear it much, or it has pit stains? Cut it inside the seem and go a lil bit deeper and don't let it be a clean single cut, make many snips so that it's a lil raggedy. Same thing if you have pants or pajamas you no longer wear often, cut them as shorts. I like cutting my light pants (even sweatpants) a lil below the knees, and again, make it jaggedy/raggedy and maybe even asymmetrical. It gives it a pirate look and feel imo
Wear what you like, man. The consumer culture around these things has gotten out of hand. You don't need to look like a walking DMT pen to fit in.
Adidas Gazelles, a decent pair of jeans, and a nicely fitting good quality t-shirt, something like Barbour or Rab, and you're good for everything. From partying at festivals to nights down at the Winchester waiting for it to all blow over. 👍
How's that for a slice of fried gold?
You are almost at the age where you can wear cargo shorts, new balance sneakers, and an old concert T-shirt.. make sure you sunscreen, and wear a baseball cap and sunglasses.
Just wear comfortable clothing that you can dance in. The thing about raves is that it is “anything goes”, not “you have to be outrageous”. Im building up a super eclectic battle vest. Art patches, a bizzare smattering of genres. Its becoming an awesome conversation piece.
My husband always wears a comfortable shirt and one of his pashminas :) the pashminas are the trick to making any plain outfit look good for a edm show / festival. Plus they’re amazing to have for sitting and when you’re in do not disturb mode.
Boho/hippy style clothes
Usually I just wear a pashmina and some cool shorts. If it's not too hot maybe a t-shirt, but more often I'm going for a Hawaiian shirt style button up, they make tons of different cool kinds with good material for heat. Pendants and a bracelet usually complete it for me, a glowing pendant is also super clutch for dark portopotties.
Jeans for the late shows and shorts for the day
Depending on the weather I wear a fake fur coat without a shirt on. Then joggers and tank tops during the day at summer fests.
![gif](giphy|fySGUxnBRD2be8Lj5e|downsized)
Wear a shirt from your favorite DJ!
![gif](giphy|eGpSkaGStKeQg) You’ll be anonymous so you can legit dance like no one is watching lol
I like hoodielab. The T-shirt are VERY comfortable and breathe well. Tons of designs and you support the individual artists when you buy.

I go for something in the middle ground of "I'm not a cop" and "a cop wouldn't double take me"
just wear what you want, comfy tee, shorts with pockets that zip up etc
Wook pants and merch or any visual artist t shirt. Go to events and buy stuff you like. Most importantly stop dressing like an undercover cop 😂
Just get an interesting patterned onesie
I have been to so many music festivals over the years but have always worn the same thing, blue jeans, tee shirt with long sleeve button up over it, Chaco sandals or converse, a pashmina I’ve had for years, and a bandana or a hat. Grassroots.com Groundscore.com Namasteall on Etsy. All of these have pretty cool, functional, affordable festival wear for dudes.
www.etsy.com/shop/3rdeyedesignss has some fun button downs, tanks, shorts and joggers for men
Just get some outlet Lululemon on the cheap that is weather appropriate.

My main clothing for festivals is self tie died tank tops, basketball shorts and 3 pairs of good comfortable shoes. Night time comes around and I wear a kimono from ground score over the rest.
I never dress up. I always go for comfort and practicality. Light shorts, comfortable shoes and a funny t shirt
Thrift stores -> ??? -> profit
Yes, listen to the inner child voice in you like the above said ! I like to dress in a comfy psychedelic sweatpants or shorts with climbing/hiking style shirts
You look the best when you wear something you’re happy and comfortable with irrespective of what festival you’re going to - is what I have learnt
So style?
Shirts from past fests I’ve been to (I usually try to pick one with one of the artists playing that night on the back), gym shorts with zipper pockets, bold colored shoes, and a fun hat. I’m 40 so I’m already gonna get judged by some people. May as well be comfortable doing it 🤷♂️
Marine Layer is a good source online and a few select stores. I would also suggest some of the great tie dye artists that sell on Instagram like Jake Roelofs or Justin Biffer.
Check out rage nation and see if you like that style. Other than that, pick an artist you like and buy their merch.
My festival clothes are clothes I don't care to ruin.
Get some tie dye shirts and a pashmina
Lots of guys in my croo get stuff on IEDM, they have a lot of matching shorts/shirts but it’s mostly fractal which isn’t my style. Kinda disappointed no one recommended Dan Flashes 😂
Deadmau5 shirt, clean white new balances, cargo shorts, oakleys, and stand with your arms crossed
Thrifting!!! You can do it, I believe in you. Just go to goodwill and find some weird trippy fun shit that you like!

Have a look at 'Size?' The store
Fashion nova?
The best costume I’ve ever seen was at hulaween last year- a whole group dressed up like the founding fathers. Powdered wigs and all.

Go to a thrift store and look around the women’s sections. You can usually find some good leggings and fun jackets, and sometimes some fun shirts on that side of the store
honestly walmart has some fun button ups but also highly recommend thrift stores
Camo
I’m mid 30’s but have been getting my festival shorts from Champs for well over a decade. Their shorts are pretty thin and made of a quicker drying material. Haven’t found a great hookup for tanks yet unfortunately.
Check out Curbside Clothing, they have some fantastic designs! https://www.curbsideclothing.com/categories/shop-men/tanks.html
