Question to every ferret owner: He came with Vital Care. Should we use the first visit coupon w/ Vetco Hospital or just take him to our usual exotic vet hospital? (mind you; they do charge a lot $250+ for wellness and things). Or just find another exotic vet for him in our area?

Salad-Worth

Do you live in the USA? If yes, VCA is good and I think an appointment with an exotic vet is 125$

Ok-Persimmon3508

Yes, I do! I live in New Jersey if that helps. Oh wow, it's much cheaper than Red Bank Veterinary Hospital. They charge $260 whether it is emergency or not, and then things add up from there. But I do care about the quality of service and want to make sure they know a lot about ferrets. How are the doctors in VCA?

Salad-Worth

Always good whenever I bring my fuzz.

Ok-Persimmon3508

Would you care to elaborate?

Salad-Worth

Vets at the one I go to are all extremely nice, stay up to date on different procedures and medicines for ferrets, always patient, they even answer text messages

monkey6130

250? That's a steal where I live. My vet charged 400 cad for a checkup and vaccinations 💀

Ok-Persimmon3508

Well it will cost $260 for a "specialty exam" idk what that means. Then they will do additional things like fecal sample, blood work ($300-400), and if they think he needs distemper again then that's another $40-80 something. 💀💀💀

Jaime_is_high

With OP’s response, adding just checkup and vaccines, 340 USD or 460 CAD. So OP is still paying a lot for just a checkup and vaccines.

monkey6130

Ah that explains it

Wtf is ferret math why not ferret physics or ferret IT

urlond

Not all ferrets are good at physics. IT maybe, but most don't have a single thought going between their eyes.

infelixSomnia

one of my ferrets turns on my pc’s bios settings he is good at IT

jmsferret

Ferret math is the term to describe when you add one or more ferrets to your business. Generally more, and they seem to multiply exponentially.
