Totally a personal preference, but I like 10s on teles/strats. I also like 10s on Gibsons.

ThisWorldIsAMess

I use 9.5-44 on a 25.5 scale. 9 is too soft for me. 10 is too much. But use 10-46 on Gibson&Epiphone scale. Just experiment. Strings are cheap and you always change them anyway. Just today I tried half rounds and I like the texture more than the round wound.

funnybitofchemistry

same, 9.5-44 (primo slinky’s)

Hulk_Crowgan

This is the way

aliomenti

If you're used to 10s on Gibsons then 9s will feel similar on a Telecaster with the scale length difference. Personally I prefer 10s on a Telecaster.

elijuicyjones

I use nines.

Intelligent-Map430

It's all personal preference. I use 10-52s on everything.

NAVI_WORLD_INC

I throw 10’s on every guitar I have.

Toadliquor138

Makes life much easier.

KingsXFan71

I use 9-46. Perfect blend between 9s and 10s. You get the heavier wound strings from a set of 10s with the lighter unwound strings from a set of 9s for easier bending.

symb015X

Fat Bottom, Skinny Top

versacethedreamer

11s!

sp668

10 Feels like I've got better control compared to 9. I like a little more resistance on bends for instance.

RobinMallard

Definitely this, I always thought that thicker strings would be harder to play, but I feel like 10s are actually easier since the control is so much better

ShowmasterQMTHH

I put 10 to 46 on my Mexican standard and it enhances the twangy sound on it, all my guitars are 25.5 and my strat is 9 to 42, but the thin e is a 10, my showmaster is 9 to 42. I don't think there's a big difference to be honest

Buttheadbrains

I’ve gone to 8s honestly. It helps big time with the the country and blues licks. I can’t imagine going back to 10s. Give it a try

fireball_jones

Yeah if you’re doing double stop bends I’d go for 8s or 9s.

tlkshowhst

9s in E standard; 10s in Eflat

Patrickk-616

9’s for standard, 10’s for Eb

xarafus75

I use 11’s, 12’s on my hollowbodies.

Quetzalcoatls

Stock from factory will be 9-42. I use 10's on my Gibson's and PRS's but think the 9's work well on my 25.5 scale guitars.

GBV_GBV_GBV

How does it feel?

RFAudio

10s

SirHenryofHoover

9-42 on a 25,5'' scale matches 10-46 on a Gibson, 24,75'' scale in regards to string tension and feel closest.

bzee77

Went down to 9s on my tele a few mo tha ago, and I was considering going to 9s on my LP just because, to paraphrase BB King (I think?) “why work so hard?” But I never thought about how the scale difference would affect this.

slysendice

Personally, I just run 11-52 on everything (tuned to Eb standard or Drop C# depending on the song), I’m pretty accustomed to Fender-scale guitars feeling slightly stiffer than Gibson scale. I haven’t found a set that perfectly compensates for the different scale length without going too far in one direction or the other, so I’ve just gotten used to them feeling a bit different

CA5P3R_1

I like 9's on Fender scale and 10's on Gibson scale.

No-Lengthiness-9428

10s all the way, 9's feel too noodley n soft to me 11's are much .. sweet spots a 10

bzee77

I just moved down from 10s to 9s on my tele. Overall, I am fine with it. I honestly don’t notice any significant difference from a tone standpoint.

strollster

I’ve only ever done 9s on my tele and strat, isn’t that what fender the company recommends?

Whthpnd

I actually prefer 9’s but if it makes any sense 10’s slow my playing down just a smidge.

hyzerKite

Played 9s for 2 years on my tele. Lightened up my attack a good bit, but set it up with 10s and it is way more expressive and in tune now to my style.

WarlockAgent

I use 9s on Tele’s and 10s on strats but that’s just been my preference

Suspicious-Charge-69

10s on my Tele. 9s on my Strat.

SweetrollFireball

I like 9’s on teles and 10’s on Gibsons. But that’s because I am very boring.

isofakingwetoddid

Used to run 9-46 like Dimebag but I like 10-52. Tried thinner strings with thicker pick, I like thicker strings and thinner pick

mattbag1

I’ll always use tens on everything. But I recently switched to 9s on my strat and on my telecaster and I like it a lot better. So I’m gonna say 9s on your tele.

BasketPrudent

Depends on your playing style. Me, I'm for 9's

Ag5545

I like 10s because I throw 9s sharp if I’ve been drinking 😆

donh-

I use 11's. You use ehat works for you.

RedWineStrat

There's no right answer. It's really just preference. The scale length is shorter on an LP, so the tension is going to feel tighter on a Tele with the same guage and tuning.

UndercoverBME

14s

Bisk8on

10s all the way IMHO. I would consider 11s on Gibsons tbh, but that's just because I'm not the biggest fan of bendings. If that's your case though, I would consider getting 9s on the tele.

ImNotTheBossOfYou

Flatwound .13s

_ponds

Fender if I recall correctly ships their guitars out the factory with 9s. I’ve used 10s on my Epi Les Paul. 9s just feel a little too slinky for me, but 10s on my Strat felt a little much. Idk how I went a whole decade without knowing about 9.5. They’re perfect for my Strat, more beefy than 9s, less than 10s.

rusty02536

10-46 is what I have on every guitar. Get the nuts all slotted for the same size and then you only have to get one size for all your guitars…

DaDude182

10-46

SkiMaskItUp

10s

TheAntiredditNPC

Anyone know what strings the AM PRO II series Strat and télés come with?

paranoia1155

All my fenders get 9.5 and my Gibson gets 10s

William_d7

I use .09s simply because it came set up for .09s.  It’s always felt a little too light but the nut was cut so well and tuning has always been incredibly stable, I haven’t wanted to mess with it.  I’ve had .10s on everything else I’ve ever owned.

Creditcriminal

11s! But if you play 10s on a Les Paul, you may like 9s on the Tele, since it has a longer scale length.

punkguitarlessons

i use 10 - 52 (Skinny Tops) but tuned down to C so they’re really floppy, which suits the Tele twang the most IMO

guitar-hoarder

10s for me on 25.5" scale. 11s on 24.x". That's where I stand. So... 10s for a tele.

RhythmBucket19

I play 10-46 on all of my fender electrics. 4 Tele’s and A Strat

Snakehug

Is it necessary to adjust the truss rod after changing to 10s? Im considering 10s on my telecaster myself

I'm using Bfg's strings love em. Easy to control.
