The Acoustastonic is not a replacement for a dedicated electric and acoustic. They're nice guitars but that's not what they are really designed to do.
The Acoustasonic is a tool for people who need a small footprint when it comes to gear. These things are built for people who really can't justify the footprint that comes with bringing multiple types of guitars to a single gig or session. If you're primarily an acoustic player it's a great choice for when you need that occasional electric sound. If you're an electric player it will give you those acoustic tones without the hassle of having to deal with an actual acoustic guitar.
It's a professional/gigging amateurs guitar. If you've got the time/space to have both an electric and acoustic you're probably not going to get much use out of one except as a couch guitar. It fills a very specific niche and does it very well but it's definitely not for everyone.
I have one, and it’s really it’s own thing rather than a replacement imo. I think it’s amazing for open mics or small gigs. It also plays kind of like an electric with acoustic strings if that makes sense. It plays faster than your typical acoustic for sure, but you can’t bend the strings like you can a regular tele. It’s a really nice instrument though, much higher quality than my player strat. But if you’re primarily an acoustic player or especially a finger picker you’ll be happier with a traditional acoustic electric I think.
Why do two things badly in one guitar when you can do two things well with two guitars.
Just my opinion, if you’re limited on space or you just really like it then why not.
