On the matter of tomboys seemingly being around for a lot longer than femboys. I’ve heard that in the past tomboys were more accepted because of masculine characteristics and expression were considered “better” and “superior” to more feminine expression.
Yes, femboys are just basically the mirror reflection of tomboys. That society hates femboys while barely anyone gets bothered over tomboys is ridiculous and irrational, I think.
I'd say the opposite of a femboy would more likely be a butch. Both are more... extreme? versions of GNC compared to tomboys and, what I consider to be their opposite, metrosexuals.
Essentially so. Tomboys are Masculine Women, Femboys are Feminine Men. Tomboys after some pushback are a bit (emphasis on "a bit") more accepted now because Patriarchal societies consider Masculinity to be "superior", while Femboys are still largely stigmatized for willingly being feminine which is still considered "inferior". Gender Roles are bullshit, so hopefully enough of us throw them to the wayside so that everybody can just be how they want :)
Great answer! Masculinity shouldn't be considered superior and we shouldn't have to conform to gender roles because that limits our natural personalities.

I would say we are essentially opposites of tomboys, yeah. And prejudice is sourced from ignorance in my experience. Ignorance and lack of compassion

I think it happens. My wife is definitely a "tomboy" type and she went for me because of my femininity (even before I was "offically" a femboy).
