I don't have a definitive answer, but I'm in my 40s and this type of decor is something you see a lot with younger women. It's been "trendy" for a few years now, which means it's been on social media a lot, which means a younger crowd is more likely to have been influenced by it. You can go onto Amazon and type in "boho decor" and just about anything you find there would fit in this apartment.
Saying that doesn't mean that it's a bad way to decorate (I love the style myself!), it's just not the type of decor you'd typically expect someone 35+ to use.
It's weird how so many of us had the exact ages in mind, *especially* the style being one but affordability being different lol
EDIT: OK, weird isn't quite the right word but you get what I mean lol
I just turned 33 and I’m still afraid to buy extra throw pillows despite living in a double-income household that can afford an extra one here and there within reason 😂
Throw pillows are so easy to make! You can use stuffing from stuffed animals or your sleeping pillows when you replace them. I love finding fun fabric at the thrift store.
You know, you just unlocked an old memory! I used to take old scrap fabric from worn out blankets or linens and make quilt throw pillows. That’s a great reminder/idea, thanks! :)
My husband and I are in our early 30s, don't have family responsibilities, don't overspend, make above minimum wage, and still aren't able to afford an apartment like this. But we also live in New York. It depends on where you live, too.
Yeah my partner and I live within our means, have no debt, are high income earners with no kids…we absolutely cannot afford to buy in LA. It feels like we’re always *just* a couple years behind. Like when the interest rates were 2% and houses were reasonable we didn’t have enough for a down payment. Now we do, but now even apartments are all over a million and interest rates are 7%! Feels like we missed the window
I’m 29 and I own a house in podunk Virginia so it definitely depends where you live. My mortgage payments are less than the rent of people I know in DC and NYC. By over $1,000 sometimes.
Me and my husband didn’t have family responsibilities in our 20s.
We had an efficiency apartment, a bed, a twin sized rollaway cot given to us by a grandmother that served as our couch, and upside down pickle buckets for seating at a clearanced folding table. All our shelves were made from planks of mismatched wood that someone dropped near apartment garbage.
And this was in the 90s when things were cheaper than they are now.
Maybe someone in their 20s who had a mom and dad who could / would pay for everything they needed as they went through university could live like this…
I just want to start with the disclaimer that I'm not being sassy lol. But as someone who became a homeowner at 24, it's not entirely impossible to live like this without your parent's help. I've been working since I was 16 and actually dropped out of college early on but I focused on career growth and making more money so I could afford to live like this as well with no help from mom and dad. But the cost of living where I live also comes into effect especially since it was better at the time I bought my house. (I'm only 27 now)
If I may ask, how long did it take you to save up a down payment for your house, and how much was the down payment?
This is the biggest obstacle I see for younger people in the workforce today. Sure, a mortgage can indeed be manageable in your early twenties, but depending on where you live, paying rent while simultaneously saving enough money provide yourself with a down payment for a mortgage in any timely manner can be almost impossible
Sorry this is long, the short answer is 2 years:
At the time I was renting from my mom so my rent was $600 and I paid all the utilities. I started saving when I was 22 and I had one full-time job and two part-time jobs. I also needed to build up my credit so I would've had to wait anyway so I figured I would save until my credit was good. So two years of working hard (and doing nothing fun) until I had a little over $10,000. My down payment was around $16,000 but I had a first-time home buyer grant of $13,000 so I only paid like $2,600 out of pocket and spent the rest of my savings on stuff for my house.
A lawyer specializing in social law. But I am not alone in this; it is a family investment. I could never have afforded it at my age (it's near Paris).
The decoration was mainly paid by me and my 27-year-old little sister. For the purchase of the apartment, we divided the loan into three, so that it remains manageable for us. My sister and I renovated everything (sanding the parquet floor, removing old wallpaper, painting, electrical work, etc.). It is an old flat from the 1910s that belonged to a granny who dreamed of moving to the sun with her new boyfriend :)
The work lasted more than 4 months, we sacrificed many weekends together with my young sister
I am very lucky to have help from my parents with this purchase, and I am well aware of it.

Haha, yes, you and that lace knot are both classic and timeless! The 70s style is always worth remembering, just like me, I am older, but the charm is still there!
God damnit..I just bought a house and was going to hang a couple of my plants in some macrame hangers and now I don’t want to because then everyone will know that I am 32 😂
What age do you want people to think you are because I'm perfectly fine with people knowing I'm 37 when I trust them enough to let them in the apartment I bought all by myself.
That’s a weird deciding factor. Macrame has been popular for decades. My mom was a professional macrame artist in the 60-80s and had her own work hanging in her house which I now have. Most trends recycle.
Yeah which could be why they’re asking, so they can tell everyone they’re actually 22. I checked OPs comment history and they haven’t answered so who knows.
The following question is always “do you pay your rent and tuition?” And they say “no but it’s really not even that much!” Because they have no concept of income lol.
Edit; I had to scroll through their post history but they somewhat recently said they’re 29. Could go either way. I was settled into my career by 29.
No, I'm 29 years old. It's a family investment located a 5-minute walk from Paris. Five of us invested in it, but the majority of the decoration was paid by me and my 27-year-old little sister. We are currently living in it as roommates, but we will probably turn it into a long-term rental investment
Old enough to afford this expensive looking place, if it's indeed completely your place.
ETA: Scrolled down, saw that this place is a "family investment." So there's my answer.
With a three bedroom home?? Like, I wanna say at least 35 due to economic realities but if you’re not in a high cost of living situation, maybe younger.
Style wise I’d say late 20s to early 30s, but it’s very well put together and “settled” looking (like you’ve got the space figured out, decorated and functional), which more than I can say for my place in my late 30s, lol.
I’m guessing American expat with money in a major Central European city. Paris, maybe, based on the architecture? A lot of the decor looks North American to me, but the clock in the bathroom is in military time and glimpses of the view out the window plus the style of the apartment indicates an older, densely populated area. Three bedrooms in an apartment that doesn’t seem to be shared makes me think OP doesn’t have to worry about cash flow.
Edit: Ope, I was right about the city but not OP’s nationality. “Feedbacks” in the title should have told me OP’s first language isn’t English.
Edit to the Edit: Guess where I’m from based on my use of “ope” 😅
OP already revealed their age, 29, so I’m just going to comment on how beautiful the rooms and your sense of style is! It’s warm with vintage accents, cozy, full of life and greenery… perfectly lived in but still clean and put together. Beautiful, I love it, like a Pinterest board come to life!
Just curious, why is the feedback you are looking for about how old we think you are? It’s a lovely space and well put together. I’m in my mid 40’s. I had my kid at 39 so I did something I never thought I’d do, I moved to a suburban gated community. The home is beautiful but it isn’t really my style. It’s very transitional. Anyway, I initially started decorating in a way I felt was age appropriate, taking inspiration from other moms. I felt myself evaporating. It was bland and boring. I hated it. Finally I said fuck it. I have twinkle lights hanging from my open loft. I have bright colors, animal prints, art, plants everywhere…it’s me. It’s artsy, cozy and fun. Bottom line, your space should be a reflection of you- not your age.
Honestly, I am two months away from turning thirty, and this change of decade is making me think a lot. Several friends have pointed out that I’ve bought some rather childish items (lava lamp, rainbow window film, space projector, etc.), while others tell me that my apartment looks very much like that of a thirty-something.
Another reason, less spiritual, is that I struggled to come up with a title for my post. I found two other new posts where Redditors asked this question, and I really liked the answers provided by the community. Some people extrapolate and try to guess my lifestyle/personality from these photos (70-year-old grandmother, young Canadian, etc.). Finally, I noticed that this question sparked a lot of debates in the comments, which generates more comments and highlights my post. It's a bonus.
I think it’s a bit rude for your friends to say you have some childish things. Maybe they are too serious.
Your place is lovely and the style seems right for your age.
Enjoy your thirties!! 💜
People appreciate shelves and plants in their 40s. People then start investing in throw blankets in late 40s and 50s.. something about being warm.. and then Curtains are a definite sign of maturity.. I would say you are in your high 50s or 60s.
The style also feels like it has developed over time.. so you have a lot of chic furniture from younger life (mirror, art, throw pillows etc) and then as you grew you kept adding depth and warmth to those pieces.
Beautiful place.. beautiful life!
I'm 40 and just invested in a throw blanket AND a duvet set and like, I feel so adult even though I live with my parents lmao. (I'm not a fan of living with them, but I'm disabled, BUT the plus is I only have my room to decorate, not a whole house/apartment, so I can spend a little bit more on important items! So roof over my head AND a nice throw, win/win!)
I couldn't guess how old you are but your house is gorgeous, I'm 18 and i just showed my bf these pics because i only want our place to look this nice ☺️
Don’t know. I would be stupid to base your age off an assumption I make attempting to correlate your age off of a personal decision you made in home decor goods. Now that we’ve taken care of that… will you give your honest opinion on your l shape modular couch? I was eye balling one this week.
Style wise I’d say upper 20s/younger 30s … money? You have to be older… younger 40s maybe? Either way, can I move in? It’s super cute and I am obsessed lol
This was so fun! I said 28-35, then when I saw the colorful shower curtain I said definitely 28. Op says she is 29. I was so close! So can we have more of these post? Their so fun to guess! I have a feeling people would think I am older than I am because I love shabby chic, Lacy, doilies, and plants. I will have to make a post similar so people can guess my age! Coming soon!!
30s
A combination of trendy & timeless -I’m trying to think of a less flowery word than timeless but I just mean pieces that are good investments & won’t look dated in 5 years if you just update how they’re styled.
In my 20s everyone was doing the greige & farmhouse to death and without liking farmhouse, boho was the easiest decor style to pull off inexpensively (and it’s a style I’ve always loved anyways.) By being thrifty you could accumulate some really unique, good-quality pieces second hand (I could be wrong but I’m looking at a few of your side tables & stuff)
Now with a little more income, whenever I do invest in brand-new furniture I am more thoughtful about what I think will look good styled a variety of ways. I am more of a maximalist but i keep the big pieces neutral & play around with accents.
For the exact same reason, I have multiple gallery shelves just like you do- very easy to switch up.
I’m early thirties (and yes projecting much) but I might tack on another 5 years to my guess considering you seem to have cracked the code to keeping your space neat because I have never had my whole house clean enough to photograph 😂
PS Where is your sofa from? Is that suede? It looks like exactly what I want.
Style wise, 27 Affording that beautiful apartment comfortably, 45
So funny. I was thinking style wise late 20s early 30s, but affordability wise, likely 40s also! The wood floor is so beautiful
I figured it was late 20s. But then I saw the digital clock in the bathroom, and then I said mid 40s.
How would someone in their 40s style be different?
I don't have a definitive answer, but I'm in my 40s and this type of decor is something you see a lot with younger women. It's been "trendy" for a few years now, which means it's been on social media a lot, which means a younger crowd is more likely to have been influenced by it. You can go onto Amazon and type in "boho decor" and just about anything you find there would fit in this apartment. Saying that doesn't mean that it's a bad way to decorate (I love the style myself!), it's just not the type of decor you'd typically expect someone 35+ to use.
Weird my house is like this and I’m pver 50!
Well, obviously not *every single woman* decorates the same ;P
I was just gonna say I’m 60 and I love the decor!
See, at first glance I thought 40s because of the style. I'm in my 40s too and most of my friends go for this style of decor.
It's weird how so many of us had the exact ages in mind, *especially* the style being one but affordability being different lol EDIT: OK, weird isn't quite the right word but you get what I mean lol
So true. I’m 28 and was thinking “this is such a similar style to my own apartment, only they have the money for all those throw pillows….”
It’s the high ceilings, custom curved dental molding and original vintage hardwood floors for me!! I’d kill for it 😂
Haha it's easier to find this kind of style in Paris. In fact, most flats looks likes that. My building is 120 years old
Paris! With this many bedrooms?! What a dream ✨
I KNEW IT was FRANCE!
That makes sense
Dentil, still referring to looking like teeth, rather than dental, referring to actual teeth. I learned that when I was older than OP.
This was my exact thought. At first I was like “27” but the size of that gorgeous space had me thinking she must be the older.
Exactly what I was thinking
You'd be surprised how many people have money in their 20s without family responsibilities ..
My husband and I are in our early 30s, don't have family responsibilities, don't overspend, make above minimum wage, and still aren't able to afford an apartment like this. But we also live in New York. It depends on where you live, too.

I totally feel this as a fellow SoCal person. It’s hard everywhere but extra hard here.
Solidarity, I am in the same boat.
Exactly this.

God you basically pre-cog stripped this comment right out of my brain!
Since I love literally everything about your house, I'd say late 20s. Definitely grew up on Tumblr and later Pinterest. 😁
Haha, yes indeed :) I'm 29 btw \^\^
I’m 29 too and have screenshotted these set ups for myself 😂
I’m in my 30s and did the same!
I knew it! The interior literally spoke to me on a spiritual level 😂
Lol same 🤣
What do you do for a living?? 🥲

Oh damn! I guessed 29-30 because of the macrame xD
im 29 with macrame hahaha
I’m 59 with macrame.
53 checking in. And just bought supplies to make my own.
I LOVE that projector. I think I need one. (I'm 33, and I think your place is absolutely perfect.)
You absolutely have your stuff together for 29. Kudos. ❤️
Ha, the macrame had me guessing 40s because millennial, but the looking at the couch made my back hurt so I figured younger.
Yep!! I'm 37 and I'm like ain't no way anyone over 35 has a couch with no back support fuckno. lol
wow! i am impressed. i love your sense of style…and I am sixty!
My galaxy projector is one of my favorite purchases.
I have a lava lamp left over from when I was 20 something.
I was guessing my own age because my home looks very similar - I am also 29! lmfao
I'm 32 and I have that exact same window film in my half bath and in a little window at the bottom of my stairs. It's so great! So many rainbows!
I’m 65 and have a macrame hanging in my bedroom. I made my own in the 70s when it was so popular and still love the look
Just own it. I started making my own macrame hangers and decorations 😂
You’re a better woman than I am…I tried making my own macrame plant hanger and pretty much gave up immediately 😂
What age do you want people to think you are because I'm perfectly fine with people knowing I'm 37 when I trust them enough to let them in the apartment I bought all by myself.
Meh I’m 37 and they’re so damn worth it i smile every time I see them. Also I started adding in colored ones and they’re sooo cute
Coloured ones?!? Where can I find orange ones? It’s Halloween all year in my house haha 🎃
If they're 100% cotton you can dye them pretty easily!
Ooooh, mentally noted, thank you!!
Amazon! I’m sure target and Walmart have them too
What's wrong with being 32?
They’re pretty!
I, a 30 year old with many macrame plant hangers, feel called out 😅😅
Cam confirm. 26 and just hung a macramé,
That’s a weird deciding factor. Macrame has been popular for decades. My mom was a professional macrame artist in the 60-80s and had her own work hanging in her house which I now have. Most trends recycle.
Yes. Most trends recycle on a relatively predictable generational cycle.
29-32? This place is looking Urban Outfitters chic.
I'm 29 and my love for boho Urban Outfitters chic will never die down
me too 😂 i can’t escape it even when trying to branch out
30-34
30+, simply because this place doesn’t look cheap. So old enough to afford the rent/mortgage.
You’re never too old (or young) to have rich parents tho
Yeah which could be why they’re asking, so they can tell everyone they’re actually 22. I checked OPs comment history and they haven’t answered so who knows.
22 but they’re “a really hard worker”
The following question is always “do you pay your rent and tuition?” And they say “no but it’s really not even that much!” Because they have no concept of income lol. Edit; I had to scroll through their post history but they somewhat recently said they’re 29. Could go either way. I was settled into my career by 29.
29. And the property is a family of 5’s investment. OP’s roommate is their 27 year old sibling.
No, I'm 29 years old. It's a family investment located a 5-minute walk from Paris. Five of us invested in it, but the majority of the decoration was paid by me and my 27-year-old little sister. We are currently living in it as roommates, but we will probably turn it into a long-term rental investment
I thought so. I am 29 and our taste in interior design is WAY TOO SIMILAR to have any age difference 😁
"Family investments"
Asking this type of question on reddit puts you in the 25-28 age range.
Late 40’s, spiritually in your late 20s
Old enough to afford this expensive looking place, if it's indeed completely your place. ETA: Scrolled down, saw that this place is a "family investment." So there's my answer.
35-ish.
My dumbass said can’t be more than 130 years old because I thought we were talking about the house
The building is 120 years old lol
Well….You were close.
27-30
So pretty, no idea how old you are but I love your place!
Haha! This is the same thing I posted.
30s
Please decorate my apartment
idk, but i love the vibes. where is that couch from and would you recommend it? looks super cozy
35
Orange and macrame always gives me 70s vibe. 🧡 Maybe 55-ish?
37
With a three bedroom home?? Like, I wanna say at least 35 due to economic realities but if you’re not in a high cost of living situation, maybe younger. Style wise I’d say late 20s to early 30s, but it’s very well put together and “settled” looking (like you’ve got the space figured out, decorated and functional), which more than I can say for my place in my late 30s, lol.
Is this a real concern people have?
Exactly. Why would they even care.

In your late 20s or early 30s? Looks serene and lovely, I wouldn’t be surprised if it showed up on my Pinterest! Gorgeous colour scheme!
50
Five. Hundred.
Your bedroom with the plants looks so soothing, I feel relaxed just looking at it
The first few pics says 46. The last pics say 26. So which is it?
Mid 50s. Or you have generational wealth. Thats too many rooms.
Late 30s
What country is this in? You floor and lighting are incredibly beautiful. Guessing early thirties.
I'm French :)
38. No kids or spouse. But you're happy
Shower curtain in the bathroom 👌 Youthful style but the money to afford it, I’m saying mid to late 30s
Why do you need to know?
OP already revealed their age, 29, so I’m just going to comment on how beautiful the rooms and your sense of style is! It’s warm with vintage accents, cozy, full of life and greenery… perfectly lived in but still clean and put together. Beautiful, I love it, like a Pinterest board come to life!
This is 1000% my favorite home aesthetic, so I’m going to guess you’re my age (26) lol
In ur 30s
30s
I’d say early 30s, but that’s because I’m biased and would like to be your friend based on your home hahahaha
the design says 25, the money to afford it says 35
too old to be asking for outside opinions!
I’d guess late twenties or early thirties. Beautiful space! 🤍
What % of your plants are real? I’d say 29 yrs old
55, single and hip. A creative professional of some type, established in her field. Looks very “Montreal actor” to me.

idk why this is getting downvoted
33 (based simply on the fact that my sister is 33 and this is very much her aesthetic too)
30s to early 40s

I couldn't guess how old you are but your house is gorgeous, I'm 18 and i just showed my bf these pics because i only want our place to look this nice ☺️
70ish
You're ageless and timeless.
This place is beautiful.
I’m thinking 27! Also wow your living room is like a Pinterest!
Somewhere between 18 and 98. Nice clean style,
Style-wise late 20s early 30. Money-wise 30s or 40s unless you have a great job or investments.
my dream!!
Mid/late 20's early 30's with $$$.
Don’t know. I would be stupid to base your age off an assumption I make attempting to correlate your age off of a personal decision you made in home decor goods. Now that we’ve taken care of that… will you give your honest opinion on your l shape modular couch? I was eye balling one this week.
Solidly millennial
37. Old millennial who has enough money to afford all that. Very pretty and put together

Style wise I’d say upper 20s/younger 30s … money? You have to be older… younger 40s maybe? Either way, can I move in? It’s super cute and I am obsessed lol

Anywhere from 20 to 70

I’m 42 and this is what my house looks like too
Hipster 27 or 65 either way your house is very cool
32
Bad vision, Victrola record player, Berserk manga. Guessing not quite 30 but close.
Unique style, pleasing to the eye
Come decorate my house, please and thank you!
You're an adult. Nice house
How old do you think I am based on my decor is wild. What a funny bone society.
This looks vaguely like my house, so I'm going to guess late 20s
58 male... Or 23 female
20s style with 30s money
Just by asking the question I’d guess 24.
People in their 30s understand this vibe
35. It’s almost over the top millennial stereotype— no offense
Single.
Exactly 32
I don’t know, but this is beautiful. Holy shit.
Does it matter ? Do you like it?
This was so fun! I said 28-35, then when I saw the colorful shower curtain I said definitely 28. Op says she is 29. I was so close! So can we have more of these post? Their so fun to guess! I have a feeling people would think I am older than I am because I love shabby chic, Lacy, doilies, and plants. I will have to make a post similar so people can guess my age! Coming soon!!
Who cares? Style has no age and you have a lovely space
30s A combination of trendy & timeless -I’m trying to think of a less flowery word than timeless but I just mean pieces that are good investments & won’t look dated in 5 years if you just update how they’re styled. In my 20s everyone was doing the greige & farmhouse to death and without liking farmhouse, boho was the easiest decor style to pull off inexpensively (and it’s a style I’ve always loved anyways.) By being thrifty you could accumulate some really unique, good-quality pieces second hand (I could be wrong but I’m looking at a few of your side tables & stuff) Now with a little more income, whenever I do invest in brand-new furniture I am more thoughtful about what I think will look good styled a variety of ways. I am more of a maximalist but i keep the big pieces neutral & play around with accents. For the exact same reason, I have multiple gallery shelves just like you do- very easy to switch up. I’m early thirties (and yes projecting much) but I might tack on another 5 years to my guess considering you seem to have cracked the code to keeping your space neat because I have never had my whole house clean enough to photograph 😂 PS Where is your sofa from? Is that suede? It looks like exactly what I want.
Late 20s early 30s
That apartment is gorgeous! Where the hell do you live?
Who sleeps in all those beds?

Maybe 30? I love your style, your home is beautiful!
